Oh, this is a cocktail I have to make right away!! Fabulous choice, David!! Love the Dead Rabbit, by the way - totally worth taking a lovely trip to Manhattan - once this pandemic ends - and going to for some excellent cocktails!! You would love this place, David!! Spectacular bar!! This wonderful cocktail that you have made is pure artistry!! Gorgeous!!
Excellent job David! The flames orange peel adds a nice extra note of smokiness. Maybe you should have burned that spider too. They make great garnish.
I would never have guessed the pronunciation of this drink. Who does not like a little fireworks with there cocktail. Thanks for the cocktail and cheers my friend. One of the better outtakes. lol MEDIC!
Always love these drinks! My favourite Mezcal is Agua Santa as Carmen is a local to us entrepreneur that works with the farmers in Mexico to bring the mezcal.
Nice job on the flaming peel. You really need to try the Casamigos mezcal. It's wonderful and the very cool bottle is colored with the ashes of smoking process.
Very interesting! Phil Ward also created the Mezcal cocktail we posted a week or 2 ago called Division Bell. He definitely knows what he’s doing. I’ve been wanting to try this variation of an old fashioned. Looks fantastic!
Fire is fun! But this cocktail looks like a great variation of a old fashioned I don't ever thing about making it with tequila but I should open up my mind a little
Great video! I really enjoy your videos. Phil Ward came up with some amazing drinks. However, Phil Ward was at Death and Company when he came up with this drink. Dead Rabbit was not open yet and is owned by Jack McGarry and Sean Muldoon not David Caplan. I don't think Phil Ward ever worked there. Though I will say that Dead Rabbit is an incredible bar. Hands down one of my favorite. However this drink predates them.
Great looking Old Fashioned. I think I will make it for myself tonight! Cheers!
thank you Kevin. I hope you enjoy it.
One of my favourite Old Fashioned variations! I like to float half the Mezcal on top to bring out the smokiness! Cheers David!
I used the 1800 Añejo Tequila in mine, has a really rich deep caramel flavor.
The mezcal float really does sounds like a good idea.
@@RobsHomeBar I don't have one of those. I will have to change that/
@@boozeontherocks it’s probably the cheapest Añejo you’ll find but it’s good!
@@RobsHomeBar That is good news
... because fire is important! That is so so true. Great presentation of this amazing drink. Cheers David.
Thank you peter. I'm glad you liked it.
@@boozeontherocks yeah it was great. It's a pity what happend to the spider though. 🕷️😉

Thank you. It turned out better than I thought would.
Absolute classic, love the flamed orange.
Thank you very much Pete.
One of my fav drinks from one of my fav bars! I can’t wait till they reopen
That is a bar I would love to go to.
This sounds fantastic. Will make this for sure!!
This is right up you alley Karl!
I love this twist of Old Fashioned, but I love pretty much everything with mezcal!
Mezcal does bring a lot of flavor that is for sure..
Still remember the first time I had this one at Death & Co years ago. Awesome drink.
I agree its pretty awesome.
Excellent job David! The flames orange peel adds a nice extra note of smokiness. Maybe you should have burned that spider too. They make great garnish.
I need a full flame thrower for the spider.
I love how you include so much history with your cocktails
Thank you very much.
This looks great! First time seeing the flaming oranges peel idea. Thanks for sharing!
Your welcome. If you like tequila you will definitely like this.
This one should be on everybody's list of great tasting go-to cocktails.
You got that right.
The Dead Rabbit is on my bucket list for sure. I like this riff because there's just a half ounce of mezcal, really balances it.
It works really well.
I would never have guessed the pronunciation of this drink. Who does not like a little fireworks with there cocktail. Thanks for the cocktail and cheers my friend. One of the better outtakes. lol MEDIC!
Fireworks and cocktail are great together
Great history- nice shot of the booze going In The glass.
Nice with the flame orange. Here is 25 oranges.
Thank you very much.
I had one of these at a bar and instead of Ango...he added Xocolatl Mole bitters and a dash of orange bitters. It was amazing.
I will have to try it. Thanks for the info.
Loved it! Awesome drink, A big thumbs up 👍🐾
Thank you very Much.!!!

Casamigos anything is great.
@Brian Schotter, I will see if I can hunt a bottle down.
@Alchemix Bar. I agree.
Interesting variation on the OF! Bet that would go great on Taco Tuesday! 😁
I think it would be a hit on Taco Tuesday.

It is really good. I should try the Division Bell as well.
I’m really liking the close up shots, new camera?
Thank you. No I am trying to do things a bit differently.
