You're basically a sub-elite runner who is way, way ahead of even a keen runner like me who can do 5k in 19 minutes so the fact that you can only last about 10 mins at this pace just shows how superhuman Kipchoge and any of these athletes running a Marathon in under 2:05 are. I would really struggle to last 2 mins at this pace so that shows you how far ahead of a 19:18 5k runner a 15:30 5k runner is = 5 times as long!

I was 16 years old and was doing literally no pacing. I’m pretty sure that ESPN was there filming it for their Running and Racing TV show. I’ve always thought about contacting them so I get footage of me in that first mile keeping 1st place in the race. The thing is, there were pro runners there who went on to win the race and a 4:52 mile didn’t even phase them. I couldn’t believe how relaxed and calm they were. Anyways, you’re awesome dude. I'm not a runner, but as someone who regularly does half marathons on a rowing machine I find the idea of a 2 hour full marathon mind blowing. I can do a half marathon in about 90 minutes. I suspect a full marathon would take me somewhere between 3 and 3.5 hours. 2 hours? Holy crap... I don't know if that's even possible on a rowing machine. I could match that pace for shorter distances, but a full marathon? Not a chance in hell.

Yeah and at these speeds I think you also gain quite a bit of advantage from the treadmill pushing the pace for you, you just need to stay on there. Hard to compare to other sports. Athletes train their bodies so differently from sport to sport. Is Honnolds el Cap any more impressive than any other free solo endeavor, not really, because it isn't his skill that that pushed him through, it's just that no accident ( a gust of wind, some bird flying out of a crack) happened.
