- Today we take the new humminbird Mega Live 2 forward facing sonar transducer out on the water for the first time to see how it compares to Garmin Livescope and Lowrance Active Target. Do you think it’s better?
Love the unsolicited reviews! Keep them coming.
Honestly, you’re so creative. Keep sharing more!
His creativity is why they sent him one for free, create a narrative and keep saying it. Keep saying it and people will believe it, except for those of us who have mega live 1.
Lol ..these guys can't fish hardly without it FFS.....keep telling urselves you are a good fisherman without it... 😂 Clowns
So is she real …? Or a bot 🤣
@@curterygoodwin441she’s my girlfriend, totally real. You wouldn’t know her she goes to a school out of town 😂
@@MJ_Basslol😂
To be frank.. i'm not a tourney guy just a fun fisherman.. but I love seeing this hit the market. More and more used early gen units will be hitting the market and I may be able to afford it soon.
That's what I'm hoping as well lol
Good and bad more people using the worse lakes will get
Thanks, Ben, for a GREAT review Humminbird review. Humminbird has definitely gotten my attention back with the MEGA LIVE 2. I love the 360 & SI mapping technology they're superior with. 🍺🎣
They definitely stepped their game up 😮
competition between these companies is good for the consumer 👍
Don’t have and never used electronics when fishing, mine issue not against it, and I think that looks amazing. Crazy the detail you can see.
As usual, great content, Ben. I had Mega Live when I first ordered my '24 Puma STS. I quickly went with the Garmin LVS34, but this new HB Mega Live looks much better. I'm glad to see HB finally got it right, because I'm a fan of most of their products. By the way, your "causal" casts are deadly accurate!
So glad I found this, absolutely worth watching!
😂
She must be on here fishin for a sugar daddy 😂❤❤
Impressed for sure. But since they’ve always been a leader… It was a long time coming. And who knows how fast Garmin and lowrance will come out with one better, and stay ahead of the curve.
Watching fish not eat your minner makes me feel better about my day 2 on Lake St Clair Bassmaster Open, much appreciated
Different type of lake with different types of fish that forage on different types of baitfish. Do better
I watched a review that Tyler Berger just put out on the Mega Live 2. He used his in the Doppler mode and all of his baits were extremely clear. Looks like Humminbird did a pretty nice job on this upgrade.
I can't seem find that video
Look for BassFishingHQ HUMMINBIRD Live 2. It will be the first one that pops up.
His baits were extremely clear because of the size jig head and jig in general that he was using. The fair comparison would be to use that same bait side to side with Garmin.
Hummingbird is one of Tyler's sponsors, take that into consideration as the bias will be hard to ignore.
I really don’t care about that. I’m going by what I watched. In the Doppler Pallet that Tyler preferred all of his baits were extremely clean.
Awesome video. I enjoy the back and forth with showing the live also you’re probably the only one I’ve watched that actually interacts with the viewer while using live. Keep doing you bro.
Hummingbird has stepped it up definitely
Hey Ben, mega live has a feature where it shows you on the screen the area you transducer is covering so you always know where it's looking. You need to be using an external gps sensor but it works great. It's a little icon in the cornor of the screen showing a gods eye view of the coverage. Setup depends on which graph you have but it's pretty easy ...
huge improvement from ML1, love the review man
We enjoy your instructional videos. Your great at it.
Thanks Ben I just got the HB. Live this was really helpful
So cool, I can’t wait until all the new Hummingbirds units drop I’m all in with this upgrade
thanks Ben love the unbiased review and it looks pretty good for an alternative to Garmin plus no black box.
Ben, thank you for posting the process of working through all the settings and shit. *edit: also Ben, you should rock dreadlocks for the next tour season.
Something tells us you bank fish LOL
@ sometimes, but rarely. Mostly fish out of my skeeter or xpress.
Does look way better than original one they came out with
Let’s see side by side comparison to the garmin!
Amen, he has a garmin in the boat and never turned it on... smh
@@jeffmatura3957there would be interference with the two
Thanks.. I like that landscape myself
I grew up fishing the lake you're on. Still one of the best lakes in East Texas.
The bot comments go CRAZY 😭😭
Honestly surprised it looks pretty good love when bird makes a new transducer
Good job, thanks. I have ML1 and had doubts to buy new ML2. 70ft forward to see the bait is enough for pike fishing. I probably go with with new ML2.
Love the content Ben and support ya 100% 👍🐟
Looks good, thanks for the review.
Yeah well that will do me, I’ve been waiting for a decent review on this. I was pretty happy to see you doing it. I live in Australia, I fish for giants in rivers and the occasional perch. I already have a Solix G3 for the clearly better DI/SI images. It will save me a tonne and keep the wife off my back 😂
Great video it was very informative. I have mega live 1. Have been semi satisfied. Now I need 4k to upgrade.
What an awesome honest video bro!!
Would be awesome if only you could run both at the same time in order to check if there would have any beam interference between them.
Regards from Spain.
Thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching it.
Looks good dude hope all is well keep pushing forward bud
The Ozzie is now available on Tackle Warehouse, but not on 6th sense website. Merry Christmas!
Thanks Ben . Good video.
Wanna see more w this ML2!! I Haven't bought yet but I run all birds so keep them coming. Maybe some glides wanna see how they look once u get it dialed
Excellent video Ben !
Can you do some more landscape mode please. In around that 6-15ft depth range.
Really hopping this unit pans out and makes the market a little more competitive. I'm hoping to get one in the next couple years and this could help bring the price down.
Great honest review. Thanks.
I don't know if they changed it but the transducer is always on when it's out of the water, it gets really warm to the touch ,and i'm sure it will burn out if left on for a long period of time.I shut off my battery every time i'm done using it for the day . That is the weirdest part of the whole thing , i think it should shut off when you shut off your graph.what do you think or know ?
From what I have seen on other channels, the new ML2 transducer automatically senses the water and turns itself on and off; it also automatically senses the transducer angle, so you don't need to make that adjustment on your graph.
Weird you can run full Sens, does this mean the garmin has more gain or does contrast play into that as well. Can you see behind you as well? Also compare both if able.
Awesome review Ben, i hate i just got setup with my ML1 a few months ago, guess I'll be saving up for a solix or apex to where i can get the ML2.
Thanks nice video man. I’m thinking of buying one, this helps
The graph image looks good early in the video
I have a mega live one and that definitely looks a lot better
Merry christmas to you and your family.
hey, why didn't you show the Garmin in a direct comparison, that would be cool. The image appeared crisper directly on the display than on the small display.

Do you use Garmin? There’s an auto orientation feature you can turn on.
Good solid review, Ive had the gen 1 and this one looks better and more comparable to the Garmin for sure! 😎🤘
Great vid! Yeah, the FFS haters Think it's like using Dupont spinners.😅😅
Dude that would benefit elite anglers especially with the rule of one transducer! They could switch back and forth landscape easily
What did the whole set up run with the screen? Did you have to add another battery or is it ran off your 24v?
Good video Ben!
Garmin switches between forward, down and perspective automatically too!
Great video MFer. Never seen you go long without a bite. Do you think it's from a different noise ? I fish out of a Kayak in northern AZ. Catch Bass in a clear Northern AZ lake with no graph. But you are definitely teaching others how to fish with awesome technology.
Love the tech stuff
So play a computer game.
@@JanoyCresva If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck!
Can you turn both on so we can see the difference real time
And pretty quick Garmin will likely introduce the LVS 36 transducer lol! None of these manufacturers will be outdone, they always wait on each other to play their cards!!
Looks promising. Does this one require a separate computer/box or is it still a single unit in the transducer?
They may have been in 3rd for live but Mega360 is an amazing concept that no one else is doing
All the forward facing in landscape/prospective view are the 360 but just live, without having to wait 30 seconds for an area to be updated
Great video 👍👍👍
Milliken can you do a AT2 video the same way for us?
Do they still not have a black box? Might explain the reverb
Please do more of these
I wonder if humminbird will make it less costly, to try and get their customers to return from garmin?? A side by side would have been interesting since you are running both units. Also, is it really worth buying a humminbird and selling the garmin when garmin is still producing great unit with great results.
Glad to see this real time test! Solidifies my decision to stick to the Garmin for sure!
Lmao “that guy doesn’t agree. He says I’m not eating it, he doesn’t care what livescope I’m throwing”!
Tell em Ben!
Good job ben😊
Nice. Thanks Ben
I didn’t know that thank you Ben
Love this review stuff
I think it would be Cool if you could get Zona in the boat with you to go over the features and make a show of it.
I'd pay to watch the comedy.
What do you use to record the screen
Yep, this Humminbird Live 2 is an improvement for them. It now is more comparable to my Lowrance Active Target 2.
I’m impressed. Im gonna have to try it out. Thanks for the review.
I fished on a boat with a quest. That thing was huge and heavy. It’s bigger and heavier than the Force and 3 times heavier than the Move.
How did you zoom in at 3:53 on that message?! Or was that a screenshot?
Looks like a screen shot of a text and he pinched and zoomed into it.
I was getting super bright tall streak returns on big fish and would throw at them with a glide and it would be like they didnt even see it but then i would get the same fish to where they were less “hot” and they would see it and come up and crush it. It only happens on fish that are like 5+ which is weird. Ever experienced this? I use garmin Lvs 34
Been running Humminbird for years ... Doppler is clearly the best palette by far ....
it would be nice if your bait was a different color wouldn't it? So you can quickly tell fish from your lure
Please show us both at the same time
Hard to do. Can’t run both transducers at the same time aiming the same direction. It causes interference on both units. Would have to graph a route with 1 then turn around and re graph the same route with the other ducer & 50% of what will be on screen will change in that gap of time
@ Just wanted to see a comparison between the two of them
Is this the G4N?
No
Looks comparable to the lvs32 but might be a bit more clear further out.
Thanks Ben. Going to be upgrading the front of the boat this year. Needed to see this. But we all know that Garmin has stuff that would blow your mind. They are just not going to bring it and leave that slow upgrade money on the table.
Great video, I think a different color palette might provide better results. Based on how yours looks, I still think my LVS34 looks better in forward mode. Perspective mode isn’t something I use much since I have 360 but I would agree that it does look good on the ML2. ML2 is a huge improvement but I’m not impressed especially with running the sensitivity at maximum. Great video though
I have AT1 paired with an HDS Live 12 and i’m honestly struggling to learn it (fish identification, what to cast to/what not to, etc). Should i “sell out” and switch to Garmin or hummingbird, or should i stick with it and give it more time?
How long have you been using it?
@ I’ve had it a little over a year. That being said, I haven’t been using it for a year. I’m a shallow water guy all the way, just trying to learn the deep stuff by using FFS. Usually wind up going shallow if it’s not going well with the active target.
@@dylanwarren2746 I gotcha. AT is good. Definitely takes a little more time with the eyes on a screen compared to a garmin.
The best thing I’ve learned from looking at it is bass are like 95% always moving and the returns are gonna be throughout the body. Trash fish are usually grainy and look like a zebra lol. Crappie can look like bass(especially the big ones) but once you start catching bass on it and throwing at them you’ll learn if it’s crappie or not. Crappie tend to be stationary and don’t move.
Plus bass like space when they’re grouped up. Fish that are super tight together are more than likely going to be crappie or hybrids.
Try to keep settings the same until you can start dialing them in with confidence. No noise rejection and contrast to preference. (“2D look”) like he was saying. Pop the contrast until you can see more around the fish (his aurora glow) then you can see their full body plus kicking of the tail. That’s usually a telling sign of a bass. Like I was saying, once they get in 50-70 ft, if you still see a full return on the fish it’s a bass 95% of the time. If it gets In that range and it’s a grainy zebra it’s a trash fish.
Honestly when you’re still learning just toss at everything you think is a bass with those mental notes I gave and you’ll learn it with ease.
Some other notes from preference:
Throw at least 10 ft away from fish if they’re a high roller(high in water column) and reel it fast to them. They’ll feel that with their lateral lines and you won’t spook them off. I haven’t had good experiences yet with fish being on the bottom. I only throw at the ones that are suspended.
Single fish are harder to catch than if you see a wolf pack of 3 or more (competition is good for the angler)
Target fishing (brush piles, trees, etc) is what I do the most. Like he mentioned in the video always keep your bait above the fish. And learn how to retrieve steadily. That’s the biggest thing, presentation is everything. Especially now since everyone has one on their boat.
Hopefully this helps a little!
@@danielcheshirefishing8916 Awesome advice, appreciate you typing all of that out!
With that HDs 12, you should upgrade to AT2. The images Ben is getting on the megalive 2 in this video are pretty similar to what I get with my AT2.
Mark Zona has a great fishing show
Can’t get Zark Mona out of my head 😂
Nice! Almost as good as Garmin livescope plus
Any word on garmin releasing a new transducer?
Great video thank you Ben have been looking to get a forward facing sonar
I'm still happy with my mega live, I don't need the upgraded one
Catch'um up Ben!!!!
IMO not as good as the lvs34. Great video, thanks!
BIRD IS STILL THE WORD!
Ben, thank you for this!
Man can I take the transducer once you are done with it!
