Given the circumstances, Windsor's TV was pretty limited on the Canadian side without cable. They only had CBC (CBET 9), CTV (via CKCO's Sarnia transmitter on 42), TVOntario (32) and Global (22).
Thank you, there were always record collection commercials back in those days. For $16.95 you get 25 years worth of Dick Clark’s best hits on 3 8-tracks or cassettes. 😅
For a long time, Toledo never had a real independent station to call it's own, so 50 (and a lesser extent, WXON 20) was the go-to channels we had prior to WUPW TV36 in 1985. Of course that's all in the past since Fox and other newer networks dominated these indie stations soon enough.
Sooo strange, to know that I MUST have seen at least some, if not all, of these, but not to remember a single one...the only thing that's familiar is the ubiquitous blue screen with the toll free numbers and "C.O.D" on them! Equally funny to think that these all came out the same year I first saw Empire Strikes Back...
I wouldn't know. most of the tapes have inaccurate labels for the shows, and i don't keep records of what commercials are where. if you know when they aired, keep an eye out for the dates, as the youtube community has been really great at pinning down recording dates for me.
Born and raised Detroit girl here! I remember a lot of these commercials! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! Thank you! These brought back great childhood memories!
We could only get channel 50 on clear days out in Onsted, but I loved being able to watch cartoons on weekday mornings.
6:31 OH WOW I MISS THE WHOLE BOBOLO EXPERIENCE SO MUCH 😢
My earliest tv memories are from 1981 when I was 4 years old so I may have seen these just don't remember well

I forgot they showed Canadian Ads as well as the US ads (since 50 also served Southern and Central Ontario)
Curtis Livingston needless to say WKBD sign-on/sign-offs had both US and Canada national anthems.

Yeah, Toledo got WUPW, which almost instantly turned into the Fox affiliate.
Do you remember Patches and Pockets?
@@faulltwYes, watched it every Saturday morning.
@@ChristopherSobieniak Was it Saturday? For some reason was thinking it came on Sunday morning. Oh well, kind of crazy all these years later
I would recreate the coast soap commercial as a kid when I was showering. Crazy
Thanks so much for these great memories!!!
Oh man, Boblo Island. That takes me WAY back.
You're awesome! Thanks for these!
I used to stay on Mansfield between 7 and 8mile road

These ads ran on June 25, 1980.

I wish it was 1980 again. Just about everything sucks today, it was a lot mellower back then.
Now you understand how we Gen X'ers feel.
I don’t. It wasn’t a good year.
Right with you, graduated high school this year…ahh to do it again with what I know now…
Can someone show WKBD-50's EBS test?
Dear 1980, we're sorry.

Oh my god, BobLo was still open!
Until june 93
I watched Channel 50 alot years ago.
YESSSSSS
Me too, I feel wasted.
Loving all these uploads! Any chance that you have any of the WRIF remarkable mouth radio station commercials in your video collection?

@@imacjason Thanks. Pretty sure they aired in late 1979 and early 1980, with others from spring 1992 and fall 1998. Will be keeping a look out.
