    A detailed step by step guide showing the entire process of rewiring the kelvinator F&P (kelvinator) smartdrive washing machine motor stator to produce free electricity for off-the-grid living. Suitable for most 12 - 30 volt applications. Once rewired, all you need is a way to spin the motor to produce enough power to run the average energy efficient home or supplement a solar powered home. Attach it to a windmill, hydro turbine, water wheel, biogas engine or even a bicycle. The power from the motor will charge a battery bank connected to a 120v or 240v dc-ac inverter to run ordinary household appliances, lights, heating etc. Follow this link to see how to make a water powered generator using this motor • Free power- How to con... This has been powering my house for over 2 years & is still running as strong as the day I built it.

    Tip from an long time certified solderer - always run the iron across a wet sponge to remove excess (it has lost its flux and is now more of a drossy burden when using with flux cored solder), next _always_ heat the work first, before touching the solder to it or you burn the flux up too fast and it can lead to connection stability problems. Then introduce solder to the work, not the iron - it should flow freely like a tight skin hugging the metal (the sign of a good melt) and cool shiny (which is a good join, as opposed to dull which is a cold solder joint). This should all happen quickly so as not to overheat the work and once the solder sticks don't linger with their on or you lose the antioxidizing effects of the flux. If you get a situation where the solder is heading but not sticking either apply flux paste sparingly or flood the area with solder to coax new flux on to it then tap the area quickly to remove excess (if it didn't drop off on its own) or sponge it off immediately after removing the iron (you just want to get rid of the excess solder without lingering. Lingering oxidizes the underlying metal and solder starts to flip as it contains dross now and nothing wants to stick.
    I've personally taken to just sticking a q-tip in paste flux (I prefer rosin as it is only acidic when hot and won't degrade wire when below soldering temps) and dab everything for jobs this size and larger (size as in wire that's this heavy).
    Anyway, nice job - I know nothing about these alternators and am trying to learn. This was very helpful, thanks!d

      yeah I liked his video myself, but the soldering needed some work...My brother is a great solderer and was amazed when he saw me solder...its because i am a welder mig,tig,stick, brazing fusing metal is my job lol I once soldered a tank back on a radiator and it looked like it was formed and not soldered

      "Then introduce solder to the work, not the iron" yes, but. This is also the right moment to put a little(!) bit of solder to the iron so it will make a solid thermal connection to the work. Just lightly touching the iron's tip while moving the solder to the work works fine.
      Another thing to watch is that you want the work to wick up the solder, not press a blob of solder onto it. When working on clean electronics with a low thermal mass and a good iron, one can do this directly from the tip, but one needs to keep in mind that this is a special case, not the norm.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I don't know much about electricity but after watching this 3 times and reading some of the comments I am considering having a go - but using wind to turn the stater. I followed up and watched the other video regarding the water wheel and inverter and such. Wish I could get my hands on all the other stuff for free so I could go ahead with the build. Cheers.

    Excellent use of an old washer, bravo man! Like Frank Resists

    hi ! Love the concept and everything.
    If you want your tin to stick to the copper. You have to clean it up with a chemical product (plumber product)
    1 apply product on the area.
    2 Heat it up
    3 remove heat source
    4 apply tin.
    That's how a plumber do, by the book.
    About that there is 2 types (or more) tin.
    take the one without lead. That's the one allowed in drinkable water.
    You might end up in trouble if you don't.
    lead path : tin => water => fish => humans => hospital
    Just thinking to this.
    An old plumber I had as a teacher told me that water looses speed when it turns. Even into a pipe.
    Therefore you might have a better output because you have two 90° angles. (if I remember correctly)
    Once again I'm just triing to help.

    Best soldering iron/gun I ever owned... Was an adjustable/variable pencil purchased from MCM Electronics back in the 90's. I paid 13 dollars for the thing and it lasted me until 2015! it still works, but the entire point is ate up... Not sure if I can find replacements. It was brown with a little white dial that you used your finger nail to adjust temp. A 1000% times better than any soldering gun or pencil I have ever owned.

      If your soldering with a tip with enough thermal mass and the soldering iron is over 30W, it should burn right through the enamel. I solder magnet wire all the time without removing the enamel first. The issues he's running into in the video is his tip has practically no thermal mass; his solder seems to have too low of a flux ratio; and he is feeding the solder onto the iron, not the wires, which is burning off most of what little flux there is before it can help mate the solder to the copper.

      Buddhanz
      I'm going to make a few stators and see where they lead. First one will be hooked up to an excercise bike and whatever my friend who is keen to engineer can engineer. A rotary tool makes it easy to strip the wires, as I learned after trying to manually join the each series of coils by sanding them manually with sand paper. I joined the 3 phases to every 6th coil like a dream with the rotary tool to remove the enamel off the wires. At the moment I have plans on a power supply for an advertisement billboard trailer for a fellow activist friend that is currently in the make. At the end of the day we are looking at building many modifications such as hydro electric to keep a self sustaining aquaponic setup and more. Looking at building affordable setups to help the everyday man and woman break free from the slavery system ;)

    I was taught to solder by touching the iron to the wire and getting the wire itself hot enough to melt the solder. By touching the solder to the wire instead of touching the solder to the iron it is drawn onto the wire to get the strongest connection with the least resistance. Your iron doesn't get as messy that either.

    • @AngryRambro
      @AngryRambro  8 років тому +2

      +Ralph Hernandez Yeah I usually do that too but if I had used that technique for this job I would have been there all day, the iron was really too small for the job. I A butane torch would have been better. In saying that, I've Never had a failed solder joint so that''s good enough for me.

    How did you manage to have water with so much pressure? Is it just with the river water and its gravity? What is the pipe diameter and total length and what is the difference in level, or an estimate, between the point where the river water is collected and where you have the turbine?

    This is great could do with some audio though. though i can see what you are doing based on the diagram at the start. When you are actually cutting wires it is hard to see and would benefit for some audio description.

    Woudn't be better to do phase 1 then 3 and then 2? So the 1 and 3 would be better separated and then last 2 would be easy to isolate from the 3 because it's on the top?

  • @WoodmanFFM
    @WoodmanFFM 6 років тому

    Interesting Video. May I suggest, however, that you use heatshrink tubing for insulation instead of hot glue?
    Sure, it's a bit more work to get the soldering joints just right so you can still slide the heatshrink tubing over the joint, but it's just so much better from a safety point of view. Also, there's heatshrink with an integrated layer of hot glue which will even seal the soldering joings airtight - might be a big plus when going for water power.

    • @AngryRambro
      @AngryRambro  6 років тому

      You may suggest it but I won't need heatshrink, the turbine has been running 24/7 faultlessly since I built it all those years ago

    It maybe a stupid question, but do you have to re-wire it and furthermore are you able to have the magnets rotating over the coils instead of inside the stator? Thanks.

    • @AngryRambro

      MOHD FAISA Osman With factory wiring it can produce 400+volts, you should be very careful if using it this way, it can give a good zap.

    You can easily get rid of the laquer by burning it off with a small blowtorch. or bunsen burner.

    Hello,
    Very intersting video, I am working on a turbine project and I wanted to know if you knew at which speed the generator you madein the video is the most efficient ?

    • @emilee172
      @emilee172 3 роки тому

      the motor original top speed was 1000rpm, you can also do some more type rewire for higher voltage bit less current BUT a watt is a watt no matter how you dice it so at 48 volts you could get 10 Amps easy or 480 watts or 24 volts at 20 Amps and still 480 watts, if you wanted a long run and power center back at base you can leave or set to 96 volts and current would be 5 Amps then do a transformer and then the bridge rectifier AC to DC conversion lower voltage and higher current, if have his setup the inverter is on site of generator with batteries, then a run of 120VAC to house

    yeh im an eleco and wondering have you tried multiple motors on one shaft as i have miles of pressure to burn
    if so are you running a rectifier between them or can the parallel

    • @AngryRambro
      @AngryRambro  9 років тому +1

      Steve Simmons I guess you could run 2 on 1 shaft but you'd have to get a special shaft made, I'd be more inclined to run 2 separate turbines in case 1 fails you still have a backup
