I remember building and flying these years ago. It was cheap fun

Yeah, it was something that was easy to build and easy to repair and cheap enough to push the envelope and challenge yourself. I think having a 26 year run speaks for itself

I recently purchased a gremlin from a friend, very indestructible, my one has a LA 25

Mark Shelden they were the plane of choice to take out in winds too strong for most. Always took one to the field. It was the first to fly and many days the only thing unpacked. Enjoy!!

The first R/C airplane I ever SOLO'd! I love the Combat Gremlin! I belonged to a club in Warrensburg, MO, in the early 90's while in the USAF and we had Gremlin Combat every Tuesday through the summer months. I'm now in Mobile, AL, and the club here does Open Combat with any and all airplanes flying at once, any design, any power class! I don't think it's as much fun as the Gremlin Combat though. I just ordered another kit from RA Cores! What's the favorite right now for power?

For stock power we have been using .28GP motors but my fvorite is still a .32 with an 11x4 prop. Tons of torque so it doesn't slow down in the turns and has unlimited vertical yet won't tear your own streamer. For electric most people are using a Power32 motor on 3S with about a 3000mah battery

.28GP? I've been out of the loop for a little while, what brand is that, and who sells them?

They WERE Thunder Tiger and were sold through Tower and Hobbico. I got it about 4 years ago at my LHS. Googling seems to indicate they are discontinued and no longer sold through Tower. There are some eBay listings but I don't see anyone in the US distributing them. The Stock requirements was a plain bearing (bushed) .25 class motor. I don't know who makes them anymore, I haven't been flying glow in probably 3-4 years

@MrCommonlane Thanks. We had a professional camera for the day and other than some autofocus issues against the featureless sky, it came out really well. I really love the .32 and 11x4 combination

Bought 3 of these. We flew bushing .25's in them. Still have 2 beat up wings and an intact pod that just had the mounting bolts sheared. They were a hoot and my go to plane when it was too windy to fly. haha

Always fun to take them out and get stupid when nobody else is willing to get in the air. The kits are still good sellers

RA Cores (coreman) So you still sell them? I have enough to part one back together, but I've been tinkering with electrics since I don't have a large spot to fly at the moment. I built a smaller electric foam board copy (and gave you guys props for the inspiration in the vids) Couldn't make it fly tho. I think I noticed an electrified Gremlin in one of your vids. Maybe I should get a fresh kit and try that lol
We blew a few up combating, but most of our motor mounts got eaten doing low inverted passes and stuff. If the antennae tube wasn't ticking the grass you weren't low enough haha

Yep, 22 years and still getting orders. I'm just finishing up a large group order for 16 to ship out tomorrow. been able to hold the price also so it's a great deal these days. And if you select the electric motor mount (free) you get one of our X mounts
