Fountain pens (and writing utensils in general) are often purchased with both form and function in mind. Do you ever decide which pen to carry based on what you're wearing or in which setting you'll be using it?
Q) Would you upload your (Tom’s) actual home office tour video? I love to watch desk set up, how organized your fountain pen! There are some partial but old one and like to see entire room if possible 😊 I cannot wait to watch your next episode 🎉
I have recently been watching your Goldspot channel and I really look forward to it! Given all of the colors, features, and brands of inks, how would you recommend the best way for organizing and tackling the "ink exploration" journey over time? I have spent more time on fountain pen exploration, but my ink journey has been a little haphazard. I would like to hear a more thoughtful "bigger picture" approach to fully experiencing ink for my fountain pens.

Given the variety of new pen companies in the market: What does it take to make a lasting impact, like the Esterbrook J-pen or the Lamy 2000? Do you see any particular pens that are starting to make that impression?
Hi Tom - What are your recommendations for how many pens are practical to keep inked up at once? I find myself wanting to ink up more pens than I can reasonably use, so I’ve limited myself to pens with red, blue, green, and black as daily use pens and one pen for inking up samples to get some variety. Just curious about the best practices you recommend. I’m considering doing a preppy eyedropper conversion so I can have the full rainbow available and not have to worry about cleaning up a bunch of piston fillers or vac pens.

Love the Pokemon pen! That’s super adorable. Especially the box My question is: What pens do you think play nicely with shimmer ink, especially in a F nib? Would a Benu, be a good one to try for this? I have tried my Twsbi eco with one, and a Platinum Preppy that I bought to use exclusively with one color. the Twsbi eco worked for about two days. The preppy lasted about ten minutes. I write very tiny so a Broad is just not an option.
Very cool new format! Can't wait for next week's episode! Is goldspot going to be picking up the gioia brand since the previous mystery box featured them, or was that a one off deal?
Lovely pens. My son's birthday is Thursday and he has been a Pokemon devotee for years. It would make a great gift for him. So many traditional and popular fountain pen brands closed after the advent of the ballpoint, but the names are now being used for new pens. The material is different, and the prices are far higher. Lots of pen brands now have manufacturers in China. What's your opinion on the "new" P51, the Esterbrooks, other pens back from the grave? What about Chinese pens that are similar to other brands, whether they are counterfeits or just borrow some design elements?
TFS Tom. Glad to hear the Paul Smith series is on sale. Heading over now. Wondering if you'll be doing an updated video on pen refills, converters, ink cartridges & what pens they're compatible in?
I use my fountain pens to keep family/current event journals for my sons. I started when they were infants: they're now 27 and 25 (so yes, lots of journals and storage). I've used, and still have, pens from Lamy, Pelikan, Waterman, Twsbi, Sheaffer, and more. I'm looking to add another. Looking for a fine or medium size nib, $250 or below. What would you suggest?
The Benu pen has wonderful warm colors but I already have the Talisman Venus's Hair Pen, and the colors seem similar. I also have the Skull and Roses Smoulder pen and it's one of the best writing pens I have. I think if Goldspot collaborated with Benu to produce a S&R pen in a translucent turquoise, that it would sell well with us ladies. I do expect a complimentary prototype sent to me, if you use my idea. 😊
