@@rexibhazoboa7097it's not explained when tbh, but it had to be before aegon fired him, the accountings of what actually happened in the books can't really be taken as fact because they're just retellings from other people that were compiled into a story
Harrenhal the most important place in the Riverland.Harrenhal Castle was damaged because it was burned by Balerion and caused all of Harrenhal's descendants to die, since then Harrenhal was handed over to Lord Strong. In the book it is described as a very mystical place
I think at the end of the conversation, when she was saying that her father is gone, Cole is away, Aemond is what he is = she has no power to now avoid it.
I think a lot of people misinterpreted that last scene. If Alicent could stop the war, she would definitely do it. But it was punctuated, especially at the council we saw earlier that episode, that she is powerless now. There's no stopping Aegon. There's no stopping Cole and the army. And after being shamed by Aegon and always being that second son, there's definitely no stopping Aemond. Especially after Otto was removed. On the flip side, Rhaenyra can't stop Daemon either. The war is inevitable.
It's crazy how the two sides talking to each other might actually have been the final catalyst for this war to kick off and not the assassination attempts. It undoubtedly affirmed Rhaenyra's claim to the throne by clearing up the last words and made Allicent dig into her own views so that she doesn't have to admit she fucked up majorly.
It's not about Alicent admitting anything. The Council didn't believe her anyways. I think she was he only one who really believed it, and maybe Aegon a little. It's literally too late.
Daemon in Harrenhal was easily my favorite part of this episode. I already thought it looked like something out of a Gothic horror movie during the earlier seasons of GOT but damn they really amped it up here.
Yeah GoT really downplayed Harrenhal. Aside from the ruined state and an increased prestige it wasn't treated much differently from any other castle. HotD is doing really well to capture the horror and gothic aspects of it that make people believe it is cursed.
The director confirmed that three of the eggs eventually become Daenerys Stormborn’s dragons. A change from the books, which imply that Helaena’s dragon Dreamfyre laid them.

Everyone forgets that Alicent didn't just believe Viserys' last words, but that he specifically told her earlier that he had a dream of his son sitting on the Iron Throne. And alicent was right, it is too late
Harrenhal is important from Aegon's original conquest. Aegon rolled up with 3 dragons and burned the entire castle, killing everyone and ending the House of Harren in like 2 days or some shit. That's the battle they talk about in GOT
Only once did Aegon fight with his 2 sisters and use 3 dragons at once during the war against Stark, Tully, and Lannister. In Harrenhall he conquest alone with Balerion not with 2 sisters
@@mostlytrue3150 I know he bends the knee but before he bends the knee he wants to fight Aegon with the Lannisters and House Gardner. @boniperman6092 it never says that torrhen stark went to fight with the gardners and the lannisters in the book. He went south to fight the targareans, he realized it was hopeless and chose to kneel instead of seeing all of his men be burnt alive
No. Aegon The Conqueror showed up ALONE with Balerion to Harrenhal and burned the castle, Harren The Black and his bloodline. You're getting confused with the Field of Fire.
Daemon was standing by a Weirwood Tree. I think it a vision. Targaryens are know to have visions. The Old Gods inhabit the River lands. Harrenhall is near the Gods Eye. An island in a lake where the Old Gods and maybe the children of the forest still reside.
Sylvie was Aemond’s first bc Aegon took him there as a little boy. He goes back to her bc in their dynamic, he’ll always be a little boy. Listen to how she talks to him, both seasons. Paid worked or not, she’s far too comfy with this Mary Kay Letourneau-esque relationship. She had sex with a child and his sexual development is forever owned and controlled by her/that experience. See how he doesn’t even really want her kissing him? He really only knows how to get motherly soothing by giving her something in return: sexual contact. It’s a common thing with adult survivors of sex abuse. Sad.
So, Alicent at first was dead set on the fact that they are going to war anyway because Rhaenyra doesn't have an army and she had Jahaerys killed, which Rhaenyra disputed. But AFTER Alicent realizes that she heard Viserys wrong, the reason she is still saying "it's too late" is because she doesn't have the power anymore to change anything. That's why she said her father was gone from the Council, Cole is on the march, and Aemond and Aegon don't listen to/obey her. Basically, she's telling Rhaenyra this boulder has already been started rolling down the mountain and there is nothing Alicent can do to change that. And honestly, there was never anything Alicent could do to change this outcome. Otto and the Council had already had a whole plot and plan in motion behind Alicent's back; the were set to usurp the throne already, they were just thrilled that Alicent brought them this tale of Viserys changing his mind at the last minute to give their plan some legitimacy. Really, Alicent gets a lot of hate as being the one who set everything in motion when it was actually Otto who did it. What we _actually_ hate Alicent for is her self-righteous holier-than-thou attitude while being a total hypocrite...which most holier-than-thou people I've ever known are. She sets my nerves on edge because I've dealt with people like her in real life with their performative virtue, acting like they are the holiest people in the world second only to JC Himself, and all the while they are cheating, lying, and doing all the the things they condemn others for. Alicent wears that crown to church like it's her halo, and in the meantime she's sleeping with Cole. And to be clear, she is a widow, a single lady, so she can sleep with whoever she wants. But she can't condemn others for sleeping around, AND she's doing this with a man who took a vow of chastity. SHE considers this a sin, but she keeps doing it.
