  • On our first trip to France I had heard about reverse polarity on electric hook up, this made me look in to this as I didn't want to fry my electrics!
as far as I'm aware reverse polarity won't damage your van but could leave Some electrical items live even when they are switched off.
This video shows how I check for reverse polarity and how you can use a second reverse plug to change the polarity.

    Thanks

Good advice. I've not come across any foreign sites with 2 pin plugs yet they've all had the standard blue type 3 pin plug. My motorhome's Sargeant power unit has a reverse polarity indicator light, it doesn't swap polarity though. So, maybe I need a reversed 3 pin blue adapter.

Thanks Bob, I haven’t been to a site in France with a 3 pin plug yet. I better get one of those as well, just in case!

Great video! I'm loving the channel, please keep the videos coming. I subscribed and have been giving you the thumbs up but this is the first time I've made a comment on UA-cam despite watching several channels for over a year now. I usually watch on my smart TV, but the last few of your videos won't load up there. No issue on the PC though. Thank you for giving us the content.

Thanks for the support, it’s still early days for me with this UA-cam thing! Keep the comments coming, good or bad then I know if I’m on the right track. Thanks again 👍

Thanks, we have been 2 years on the trot and loved it. We are staying in Devon this year for our main summer holiday but will definitely be returning to France again.

Booked a couple of sites for May over in Brittany. I've got a plug and Socket spare, so I'll get a foot of cable and make my own reverse adapter just in case. The sites I've booked don't say whether they have RP, but I'm also taking the 2 pin adapter as well, but hopefully they will just have the standard set up. Thanks for the info! Cheers......

Hi John, as long as you test it first you will be fine. However we went to one site and the polarity somehow changed whilst we were there, not sure what happened there! Some sites have it listed but a lot don’t bother. Thanks for watching 😊

good video sir. I need some information tho. Thing is after realsing that we have been running 2 freezers for past 8 months on a switch with reverse polarity we have also noticed that our bill has gone up almost 80 to 100 pound. Dont know yet why because our consumption is still the same so why bill has increased??? Can this be the reason??

Sorry I have no idea, this clip is in relation to caravan hook up.

The Caravan Nut thanks for your reply and yeah I understand. But since the issue was same as reverse polarity I thought u must be good with electrical stuff overall hence asked. Thanks again. If you can ask any expert for us as I am looking still that ll be appreciated.
