Yeah it seems overthetop and forced the way they cheer sometimes. Every new show that came back had almost fake reactions. American GLadiator, Fear Factor, and a bunch of other trash shows I'm too lazy to think of. Family Feud with Steve Harvey shows it's possible to keep a show running but you need a good host!

If you mean the Doug Davidson version with Burton Richardson (who, incidentally, filled in as announcer on daytime TPiR after Rod Roddy took ill or died, can't recall which), I personally recall it being an early evening show, but then I don't remember if it was syndicated (meaning individual affiliate stations could choose any available time slot) or not.

@@TheTambayansClub No. TPiR daytime has been on the air with only rare exceptions for almost 50 straight years on CBS. The “New” Price is Right, not to be confused with what the original, daytime version was called from ’72-’74(?) ran from September 1994-January 1995. It suffered in ratings because it wasn't very faithful to the classic format. For example, sometimes they’d use the big wheel for the Showcase Showdown and other times, the daytime show was taping and it would be unavailable and the day’s 3 contestants would play The Price *WAS* Right, in which they tried to come closest to the actual retail price without going over, of a vintage product, such as a 1957 Chevrolet vehicle. Another change that was disliked was the Showcase was only one contestant who selected a price range and had to be within it using a giant version of the Range Game, without going over to win the Showcase. It was weird. I’m sure you could probably find an episode or 2 on YT. Sorry if this is tl;Dr.

The price is right looks for people to act like nut cases. It’s for entertainment purposes. This way you get more people to tune into the program. Did the price is right back about 10 years ago with Drew. Waited in line at the studio at 4 in the morning. The whole day from start to finish was almost 12 hours. They specifically look for people that act like that. They know who there going to call up before the show starts. The whole process was a joke. What a wasted day. Never will do that again.
