All colin needed was an ounce of objectivity to realize baker is a good (not special) player. But the way Colin talks about him…he literally said baker should retire last summer. That’s pure hatred
Baker will be making under 10 million this year, so Bucs are definitely getting a great bargain on him. If they sign him for 2-3 years and overpay him a bit, it will even out with the low amount he got paid in 2023.
On the point of the other guy who said “you got to give the guy who’s calling plays and dialing up a lot of credit” has to understand that you still have to execute the play. Receivers have to win their routes, the line has to block, the qb has to diagnose what the defense is doing and execute the play under pressure, and whoever is getting the ball needs to do their part too.
Yet again, my message has been consistently correct. I knew Baker turned the corner last year with McVay. Then again this year after the typical 6-week grace period for a quarterback to learn a new system, baker has thrived. Just as he did as a rookie, just as he did last year in limited play. Baker was hurt the last year in Cleveland and still played anyway. Baker was widely criticized for playing through pain. Players get criticized when they don't play through pain and they get criticized if they do play through pain but play poorly. There's a lot of double standards in the assessment of Baker Mayfield
What is comical is that the other guy witih Colin is quick to say that Baker has "weapons" etc. Well: Lamar is on the field more predictably with that defense, and he has weapons, too. The "let's just discount Mayfield for whatever reason" impulse is still strong in a lot of people, for no particularly good reason. And yes, he does throw a better ball than Dak.
Trey Lance had a great supporting cast. A QB who can't process the plays won't succeed. Watson is the same. He couldn't hit his back foot and rip it. He had to scramble around to buy time and find breakdowns in coverage. Why he took a lot of sacks. Can't do that against sound defenses.
Let's give Baker some love now he did a very good job , coming in with a new offense coach and a new team mate, he play his as off pay the man for next 3 yrs 105 million with 70 M guarantee , that is all I have to said.
Let's see who Baker has played against in the past 4 weeks (all victories) before we declare him a good QB. Carolina, Atlanta, GB and Jacksonville were the teams Baker won against. Are you still impressed???

@@nathanielburkes4987 That Texan game hurt. Baker threw TD pass to give them the lead with 45 seconds left and Buc defense could not keep Texans out of the end zone. If the defense had made a stop, Bucs would have already clinched playoff berth.
I’ve been saying baker is a top 10 QB. Always has been. He was stuck on the browns and then went to Carolina. It was never on him. He had 26TD 8INT in 2020 too
Baker is having one of his better years but to really establish his value you have to look at all his work and Baker's biggest issue has always been consistency. Look for him to score a decent contract and then have a down year compared to this year. He seems to be one of those guys that when he is on, he is great, he has toughness and accuracy, but when he is off, he has tunnel vision making him easy to read by the defense and he gets rattled easily. He is a roller coaster.
Bizarre that when there qbs came up it was they don’t have mike evans or this doesn’t account for their rushing. Like didn’t realize this took account for some of bakers rushing and not there’s bc that boys lowering the hit stick this year
Baker has the most head coaches in a 5 year period (2018-2022) than anyone since 1950. Brownies - Hue Jackson, Gregg Williams (interim), Freddie Kitchens, Kevin Stefanski Carolina Kitty Kats - Matt Rhule, Steve Wilks (interim) Rams - Sean McVay Now in 2023 we has the Buccaneers and Todd Bowles. That is 8 head coaches in 6 years. He has now had, including 2023, 5 offensive coordinators is 6 years. One does not simply walk into Mordor with that many coaches and destroy the NFL to take possession of the One Ring with that many coaches. No consistency in a system. Baker may have had a bit of a boost though. He probably learned a lot along the way. He seems to be putting that to good use this year. Keep in mind that Dave 'Canless' Canales is a first year OC and play caller. Canales was too conservative early in the year which restricted not just Baker but the offense. Bucs were limiting the field they were using. In the past few weeks, Canales play calling has been using the whole field approach. When a team limits the area of the field they attack, the defense can pinch down. By opening up the entire field, we see the headaches Baker can cause with this receiving corp. Part of the early failure could also be attributed to the poor play of the O-Line. Matt 'Flyer' Feiler was terrible. Cody Mauch was not used to the speed of the game. Luke Goedeke was getting re-acclimated to Right Tackle. Wirfs transition to Left Tackle has looked smooth, but he has said he still isn't comfortable. Isn't comfortable yet he says? And he's been playing at a Pro Bowl level all season! The recent success of the offense of the Bucs can be attributed to several factors. Aaron Stinnie has come in at Left Guard and played well. The game is slowing down for Cody Mauch and we are seeing why he was drafted and what he is capable of. Goedeke is playing much better. Robert Hainsey is helped out by having Stinnie and Mauch playing well. There is still work to be done, but the O-Line has been vastly approved. This helped Baker and the run game. I would bring back Baker. Who better to throw biscuits to the Bucs receivers than Baker? I would bring back Mike Evans. That is a must. As far as Evans goes and why the Bucs did not give him a contract extension. I was on Contraxia talking to an expert, Rocket. We discussed Mike Evans. He thought the Bucs wanted to see two things. One is how Mike Evans plays this year. Tenth year is when a lot of players start to lose a step. Evans looks like he has gained a step. Number two is the front office wanted to see how the Bucs did this year. If the Bucs stank up the joint and got a top ten pick it would indicate that this team was going to have to be rebuilt. Out of respect for Mike, they felt that he might deserve to go to a contender so he could have a better chance at another ring. With the success of Baker Mayfield and the chemistry he and Evans have developed coupled with the fact the Bucs are on the verge of winning the NFC South (4th playoff birth in a row with the last three division championships) and Evans looking as good as ever, the Bucs will want to resign Baker and Evans. The only time Tampa has four consecutive playoff births was from 1999-2002. Until 2022 the Bucs never had back-to-back division titles. Division Titles (8) 1979, 1981, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2021, 2022, 2023? Wild Card 1982, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2020

Baker will be making under 10 million this year, so Bucs are definitely getting a great bargain on him. If they sign him for 2-3 years and overpay him a bit, it will even out with the low amount he got paid in 2023.
2:44 VALIDATION.
Good to see Colin change his mind based on new data
I think the term is called 'Flip Flopping' mate 😆.
Gotta respect that impressive live jib camera float on the monitor for that long. Smooth as silk
Glad colin highlighted this. Baker has had such an improvement and nobody has really credited him.
He was on a panthers team with CMC and DJ Moore. That just goes to show how terrible of a coach Matt Rhule was
CMC was traded to SF after playing 6 games last year with the Panthers.
@@robertdiepold2242 yeah those were the only 6 games baker played
Jason Mcintyre still hating while literally looking at the numbers lol. gotta love it
As a browns fan im happy to see him doing well in an inferior division. Im also happy he is no longer with the Browns.
Bucs are actually hella smart giving baker the chance he definitely showed glimpses of being a solid qb in Cleveland
The comparisons are amazing.
As a Browns fan i still root for Baker. He only had one bad season with the Browns and he was hurt
I'll say it he is every bit as good as any of them.
I’m still trying to figure out how Colin is going to use this to dunk on Baker later.
He'll just wait for a bad game..Then, he'll be 1 of Baker's biggest haters again
"New leaf" it's called flip flopping. It was screaming at the top of his lungs that Baker should retire.
Love when Colon’s wrong😂
If Tampa wins the Division they're going to have to pay Baker
Keep that same energy Colin!
Love how Collin just sweeps under the rug how much he hyped up Sam darnold
Love how dude started stumbling over his words when they saw he was toe to toe with Matt Stafford lmao
HAHAHA YESSSSSSSS!!! I’ve waited for this day for years!!!!!!!!
Baker plays much better when there's no pressure on his team to win or any crazy expectations
And then when you expect something, he folds. Maybe he figured it out and will be consistent.
@@theymademepickaname1248 yep, exactly 💯
He plays much better when he isn't injured and doesn't have a coach trying to sabotage him.
@spaceracer23 yes, obviously. But my point still stands. It's been a trend his whole career.
Like to beat his team’s arch rival in a playoff game on the road for a team that ain’t won a playoff game in 20 something years?
Great segment
I always liked Baker .. I thought Cleveland blew it with him .. But I'm very Happy with Dak and what he brings the Cowboys ..
JMac won’t answer who throws a better ball, Baker or Dak. Real bold, guy
QB play is ultimately about reps & Baker has played a ton of games & gotten better
Give baker his 💐
In other words, any NFL-Level quarterback, surrounded by a good line, team, coach, and support will succeed in the NFL.
Jamis Winston
Daniel Jones
Russel Wilson
Go baker!!!
Jason man shut up 😂
Baker is who you want at QB if you are happy with a 9-10 win ceiling and 0 Title Aspirations.
Baker is BALLING right now. I love it
Colin dunked on Baker for years. Baker appears to have matured and has become a pillar for the Bucs. Glad Colin has changed his tune.
Baker Mayfield has earned the respect he deserves
Cleveland did him dirty. The dude played injured. If Tom Brady did that. Every sports show would cover it.
Let's give Baker some love now he did a very good job , coming in with a new offense coach and a new team mate, he play his as off pay the man for next 3 yrs 105 million with 70 M guarantee , that is all I have to said.
Go Baker Go!!!
Lets gooo Tampaa Bayy
Glad for it.
Baker is progressing good on you Colin
And playing at this level with the worst rushing offense in football. They ran for 1.9 yards/carry vs. JAX. It was all Baker.
Let's see who Baker has played against in the past 4 weeks (all victories) before we declare him a good QB. Carolina, Atlanta, GB and Jacksonville were the teams Baker won against. Are you still impressed???
They have a bottom 5 rushing attack they haven’t been able to run the ball at all ..The record would be better as well if the Carlton Davis didn’t give up 5 tds to cj stroud also Mike Evans alone has 3 td drops I’ve watched every game
Clearly you have never played the QB position..yes, I'm impressed...by far, the toughest position on the field..ESPECIALLY, a 1st season with a new team. If u aren't impressed, then u are just a hater..end of story
@@nathanielburkes4987 That Texan game hurt. Baker threw TD pass to give them the lead with 45 seconds left and Buc defense could not keep Texans out of the end zone. If the defense had made a stop, Bucs would have already clinched playoff berth.
@@robertdiepold2242 exactly i know i just didn’t want to type all of that 🥴🤣😭
@@robertdiepold2242 Bucs just last Sunday had 30 carries for 50 yards 😭🤣and you wonder why they can’t beat a team like Philly,Detroit or the 49rs
Baker is the 🐐
Never thought I would see a video like this coming from colin
MVP Baker
I’ve been saying baker is a top 10 QB. Always has been. He was stuck on the browns and then went to Carolina. It was never on him. He had 26TD 8INT in 2020 too
Comeback player of the year
Baker is having one of his better years but to really establish his value you have to look at all his work and Baker's biggest issue has always been consistency.
Brownies - Hue Jackson, Gregg Williams (interim), Freddie Kitchens, Kevin Stefanski
Carolina Kitty Kats - Matt Rhule, Steve Wilks (interim)
Rams - Sean McVay
Now in 2023 we has the Buccaneers and Todd Bowles.
Division Titles (8)

Love to see Colin supporting baker after his dislike for him over the years
Baker easily having better numbers than Lamar is wild
