  • When my father was dying, every day on my way to his nursing home I listened to the Trio from Brahms Cello Sonata No. 1 Op. 38. It fortified my spirit. I knew then that after my father died, I would learn to play this piece on the musical saw. I created this art-music-video in my head on those long walks to the nursing home, to express my identifying with my father and what he was facing. I hope this video will bring solace to people facing similar situations.

      It makes me so happy that you think that, dear Michael! This is why I titled my 1st album "Hark! An Angel Sings" (it is a Christmas album and the title is a play on the Christmas carol 'Hark! the Heralds Angels Sing'). I'm so happy that you have the same association for the sound as me!

    הייתי ממש רוצה לשמוע את המנגינה של הסנדק על מסור, כל פעם שאני שומע את הצלילים המדהימים האלה זה מזכיר לי את המנגינה של הסנדק. חיפשתי, ואין מישהו שעושה את זה כמו שצריך, בבקשה תעשי לזה ביצוע🙏

    Schön und bewegend as Johannes Brahms might have said. Filmed at a beautiful time of the year. Is this where you performed the Chichester Psalms? x

    • @SawLady
      @SawLady  Рік тому +2

      Thank you dear Neil! And - you speak German! You are very perceptive - it is the same cemetery as my Chichester Psalms, except for the very last scene - that was filmed later at a cemetery closer to my home. I filmed Chichester in winter (we were all freezing during the filming) and this one, obviously, in spring. I filmed the ghost in the forest video in summer, so I guess I still need to do an autumn video :)

    I asked my violin teacher If I could learn Saw after violin, he said that Saw is just a tool putten onto orchestras so people can make fun of It like veggie Instruments, I felt attacked, Saw is a real Instrument right?

    • @SawLady
      @SawLady  Рік тому +3

      Unfortunately your teacher doesn't know much about saw playing... Great composers wrote for saw, in total seriousness: Aram Khachaturian, Arthur Honegger, George Crumb, etc. - serious composers who were not looking to make a joke.

      @@SawLady thank you for enlightening me, now Im gonna bombard my teacher with facts. I watched your ted talk and made a research about Saw, but unfortunately there’s no musical saws in my region so I am planing to make one with Smith. Is there any critical and compulsory details I need to know to make a playable Saw? Or would a super market saw do the job?

    • @SawLady

      Where in the world are you? Are there no hardware stores where you are? If you can find a non-electric, full-bladed handsaw that is at least 26" long (a bit longer is better) that is not rusty - you have a musical instrument. Also, you can order a saw made for music on line.

      @@SawLady I live in turkey and people here are not that cultured here, many people dont even what the word “chord” means, and the becouse of the economic state of the country and culture Its really hard to order one from europe and get one here, so you say any saw that is atleast 26” long and not rusty can work right?

    • @SawLady
      @SawLady  Рік тому +1

      Yes. I started by borrowing a saw my landlady's husband used to cut wood. It was rusty, so it only had 6 notes on it, but it played! By the way, did you see this on Turkish TV ua-cam.com/video/8tEeZTzbTPQ/v-deo.html ?
