this song makes me so emotional its all about self worth and realising that elle doesnt need warner that shes going to harvard for herself now instead of him and im so happy and proud of her i just really love this song dude omg
And then MTV: Will Elle be able to get Warner back now that he's working with Vivienne? Right after she sings a song about not needing him anymore Like MTV
Though i feel sooo bad during this song when i remember the only reason she won the internship on the first place was because of a professor wanting to hook up with her. At least I am glad she used that chance to show her worth
I feel like this song is as difficult as Defying Gravity. Both are extremely hard on your vocal cords and the women who've sung them are talented as hell!
feefifofum Also "The Phantom of the Opera" from, well, Phantom of the Opera. Christine's is also exhaustingly hard, but she doesn't have much intense choreography, not like Elle. I'd even put up her role on the same league as Elphaba.
Hell Nah! Defying gravity goes from vibrato, to head voice, to belt throughout the whole thing. You don't hear the vibrating of notes at the end of that last huge note. In DG almost every note is belting and the hardest thing to do is to make all the BRING ME DOWNS vibrate at the end. You really have to place your voice in a specific place to make all your notes have the right pitch, placement, and then vibrate at the end. This song is hard especially with how much breath that last note takes, but theres a little more technique in DG. The role is a less spontaneous and wacky so the sining should be superior for Elphaba.
"Hey mom, look at my name in black and white. Your daughter's doing something right". I don't know why but that line in the song always gives me the chills and makes me want to cry lol.
This may very well be the hardest female song in contemporary MT. I'm in tech week right now for LB as Elle and lemme tell you THAT SONG IS NO CAKEWALK. If anyone thinks anything less of Laura bell bundy for breathing halfway through the last note I will personally fight you because it is SO JUSTIFIED. First of all this is not a power ballad where you just stand there and sing. There may not be much dancing, but the level of energy required to pull off this number is otherworldly. I'm out of breath before I even get to the last note. It's INSANE. Laura bell is still the best Elle I have ever seen and can't imagine anyone being better than her.
It might be the hardest song... but it doesn't stop me from singing it as a 14yo with exactly no belting skills and no vocal training! Sorry neighbors!
I've finally decided to stop running away from going to law school and I've begun studying for the LSAT. Trust me, you're not the only one who gets choked up by this song. This is pure motivation to me, it's so empowering. Especially the line "You thought I was dumb, but I think that somebody's judgement was poor."
Arianna Quiero I know!! And people said she had no vocal range. I just link them to this or take it like a man whenever I see someone comment that on UA-cam lol.
BUT THIS ACCOMPANIMENT THOUGH! like, this orchestra is really amazing and I'm sure they had fun. props to them for doing everything as well as to LBB for singing this super hard song.
Kayla Morello I'm pretty sure they do it in chip on my shoulder around the line "I got a chip on my shoulder, let's see him knock it aside" it's so cute 😂😂😂
I've listened to this song constantly for several years and as I get older I feel more connected to the lyrics. "Your daughter's doing something right" has such a deep meaning behind it that I completely skipped over for years! As a uni student, this is constantly my go to pick-me-up song!
I love this song.. it starts with Elle being cautious and questioning that they really chose her, ”does someone know that i exist”, ”is this s mistake” and then her confidence just starts building up until she know she’s the boss ”and soon you all gonna know much better”. The energy is so unreal!! I always listen to this song whenever I need a boost to my confidence. Not to mention how hard this song is to perform on stage, it’s so high energy it’s crazy!!
This song HITS especially when she sings “you thought I was dumb but I think that’s someone’s judgement was poor”, I LOVE Elle and her personality!!!! 💞
i almost quit law school a few weeks ago. watching this I realized this battle will continue and i will be so much better.💚 Legally Blonde was one of the reasons why i entered Law School. kudos to all those students who struggles just to finish the school and pass the bar 💚
At first I wasn’t so sure about this musical. Then when I watched the live version I still wasn’t sure until I got to this song. This song was so fucking powerful and gave me a boost of confidence and goosebumps. And then I got to Is He Gay or European and it completely sold me
I have been playing this song for quite a while, its one of my motivational song whenever I had hard time, work stress, graduate preparation stress, and even heartbreaks. I always cried myself to sleep while listening to this. Last month, I listened this song and sung it out loud because I have been admitted to my dream school. Truly, it feels so much better.
My roommate in college and I had a love of musicals, the day I found out I got into my school’s nursing program she sent me this. Perfectly described everything I was feeling 😂
I admit that I cried over my failures / over people and get up on my feet with new level of self worth again after hearing this (for the 127 times already. ). I feel it. Now let’s crush 2020.
When my ex boyfriend dumped me I thought my life was over. But, two minutes after he broke up with me,I got a phone call saying I was accepted to work in my new job.6 months after we broke up my career keeps getting better than before.
It's all pink and bubblegummy, but now for the first time I can see that there's a deeper meaning to this song. Also, it's obviously a pain in the ass to perform. Everything requires a strong belting, every second bar introduces a new key… Laura Bell Bundy is just such a powerhouse.
The song I sing everytime my name is on the cast list :') this will be definitely sung all day on Thursday if I pass my exams! :) I love Legally Blonde far to much, but I really don't care, it's so inspirational! :D
I love songs from musicals that relate to musicals! I think of Something About This Night from Finding Neverland every time I'm backstage preparing before a show
just this friday, for the first time, i saw my name on the honor roll list any instantly THIS SONG came into my mind! i really wanted to dance and sing on the spot to let the whole world know wat happened! :)
sweetie buttons i think the double "love me again" was to get the point across and the double "working with you" was definitely a pun!!! Two different meanings when she says it.
I think it's pretty common for them to do this in musicals. It can be hard to hear the words clearly so important plot points need to be in the songs several times so the audience knows what's happening.
Yes! Normally rhyming something with itself is really bad, especially in musical theatre. However, they are doing it in such a way that makes it purposeful. As stated above, the first one is repetition, which is super common all throughout musical theatre history. The second is for wordplay which is also valid. The only reason this works is because they rhymed the whole phrase. If they just rhymed "again" with "again" or "you" with "you," it wouldn't have worked.
Alex S. It was tie-in they did with a reality competition show they had to see who would be the next person to play Elle Woods; that’s why they should the musical in full!
My school is doing it next year during the spring. I was so excited when they announced it because it's one of my favorite musicals. Is the Jr version just as good as the original one?
Can't believe I'm playing this song right now, after I got passed my entrance exam in college T_T which it's been a year already I've been waited for so long to start college. So much better!
Laura Bell Bundy is so talented! My best friend played Elle before and she nearly lost her voice in this song. I also got to take over the role for the second show, she came back on closing night, we had a cast party and it was so fun!!!!
On tech week for this show right now and I seriously started paying so much attention to the lyrics “maybe she’s what you prefer, but hey last year I was her” and I had to take a step back cause I just went through a break up a few months ago and saw my ex get into a new relationship and I was just like “W O A H”
Even after all this time, this song still pulls my heartstrings and encourages me to keep moving forward. Thank you Laurel Bell Bundy for being the best Elle woods ever 💜
Lyrics All of this time I planned I'd be patient and You would love me again You'd come to respect my mind and at last you'd find You could love me again And I have turned my whole world upside down Trying not to let you go Watching you walk away is like a fatal blow Whoa! Hoo! Wait, where's my cell? Mom will fall on the floor Hey mom! Look at my name in black and white Your daughter's doing something right I feel so much better I'll be there on Monday, 9 o'clock And we will see who walks the walk No, no, I can't wait, I will be there at 8 When they unlock the door Oh, oh! I'll even dress in black and white See, I have not begun to fight And you'll go, oh, much better and oh, much better And soon all y'all gotta know much better I am so much better I am so much better I am so much better than before!
I am about to be in my 4th semester of music grad school and just now going into vocal lessons to improve my range (Yes I've been in show choir). And my mom passed, the "your daughters doing something right" got me feeling some way ❤🥺
We just did this show for our spring musical this year and today was the last day of performing it. This show is so much fun to do. I loved being involved in ti
Really? Personally I like the original British casting of Elle for this song as she has a much more powerful voice and is slightly more energetic in the cast recording (a live one) than LBB here
Also LBB messes up quite a few notes here ie the "doing" in "doing something right" and the backing vocals aren't that great but it was probably MTV cutting costs by not having the backing cast or something of the sort
This song resonantes with girls everywhere. My situation is nothing like Elle's. I'm a brunette high school student, I don't want a career in law, I've never been in a relationship, and I spent years hiding behind glasses and heavy clothes. But I feel this song with every fiber of my being. People have doubted me and my abilities, sometimes because I'm a girl, sometimes for other reasons. I've doubted myself countless times when pursuing my passions. There's plenty of times where I totally considered giving up everything I've worked for because people didn't think I was good enough, so I internalized that. But then we all have that moment when we realize our potential and our growth. I first heard this song when I was 12. I've changed so much in the past 5 years and I'm so proud of that.
honestly that "Your Daughter's Doing Something Right" line always sets me crying
CLzzz same I was like getting choked up sksk
Me too!
YES
Same I cried in the theatre
SAME
this song makes me so emotional its all about self worth and realising that elle doesnt need warner that shes going to harvard for herself now instead of him and im so happy and proud of her i just really love this song dude omg
I know!!
And then MTV:
Will Elle be able to get Warner back now that he's working with Vivienne?
Right after she sings a song about not needing him anymore
Like MTV
Gwen McArdle PREACH
Though i feel sooo bad during this song when i remember the only reason she won the internship on the first place was because of a professor wanting to hook up with her. At least I am glad she used that chance to show her worth
Bro I’ve seen it 3 times and I cried in the theatre every time😭
I feel like this song is as difficult as Defying Gravity. Both are extremely hard on your vocal cords and the women who've sung them are talented as hell!

I’m a boy and sung this
I'm also a boy but I can also sing it and belt it and memorize it(Note:This is not Jona Guillermo)
SlipperyCats I can sing it as well
My acting says yes but my vocal range says no.
Sincerely,
Sad alto female
Same
Lol I just belted this whole song in quarantine and then was like “what note did I just hit? Did not realized I could do that.”
My passion says yes but my talent says no
Some One
Same though
same
"Hey mom, look at my name in black and white. Your daughter's doing something right". I don't know why but that line in the song always gives me the chills and makes me want to cry lol.
Same, and her expression while she says it, happy and like about to cry

I know! And she did such a great job too
she's great ... it's amazing some high school students handle this role as well as they do
There's a video of me doing it on my profile you should check it out :)
It might be the hardest song... but it doesn't stop me from singing it as a 14yo with exactly no belting skills and no vocal training! Sorry neighbors!
hannahxoxo423 wow, you did an amazing job
Am I the only one who consistently gets choked up by this?
This song makes me feel so confident. Girl Power!
I'm always on the brink of tears when i watch it lol
only when LBB does it.....everyone else isnt good enough
Coconut ScienceGirl92 very true!!
I've finally decided to stop running away from going to law school and I've begun studying for the LSAT. Trust me, you're not the only one who gets choked up by this song. This is pure motivation to me, it's so empowering. Especially the line "You thought I was dumb, but I think that somebody's judgement was poor."
LBB.. she is the best casting of every elle woods..
My thoughts exactly. Laura Bell Bundy rocks
yeah she was! I liked her country music too
Arianna Quiero I know!! And people said she had no vocal range. I just link them to this or take it like a man whenever I see someone comment that on UA-cam lol.
hands down...the rest arent her....
서성우 very true!!
The fact that she was clearly sick on the day of the recording and even then she KILLED it!!!!! Laura deserves a lot more love!!!
BUT THIS ACCOMPANIMENT THOUGH! like, this orchestra is really amazing and I'm sure they had fun. props to them for doing everything as well as to LBB for singing this super hard song.
Danielle Reid yes I know right! The instrumental to this song is just AMAZING
I also like the instrumental that I want to remove the vocals from it
JUST GOT CAST AS ELLE!!! never been so excited in my life
devon matthews I know I'm 2 years late 😂 but congrats
I know I’m late too but congratulations! I was cast as Paulette back in October for our performances in February, Bend and Snap girl!
I'm obsessed with the handshake they do at 0:58 😂
Bridy Palisi same. when in the show does that start? it's so adorable and funny.
Kayla Morello I'm pretty sure they do it in chip on my shoulder around the line "I got a chip on my shoulder, let's see him knock it aside" it's so cute 😂😂😂
Same. OTP goals😅😀
I love it when he just points at her name on the list and just stands there, awkwardly haha
isn't that the delta nu hand shake?
I've listened to this song constantly for several years and as I get older I feel more connected to the lyrics. "Your daughter's doing something right" has such a deep meaning behind it that I completely skipped over for years! As a uni student, this is constantly my go to pick-me-up song!
this and chip on my shoulder are my theme songs, like, honestly. It makes me ready to punch a man and succeed in life
Rachel Lee i love that so much
Mood
I love this song.. it starts with Elle being cautious and questioning that they really chose her, ”does someone know that i exist”, ”is this s mistake” and then her confidence just starts building up until she know she’s the boss ”and soon you all gonna know much better”. I laugh so hard at that
+Lucy Beckett Well no, because she says she loved it. She was just moving him.
HAHAHA YESS!!! I've watched this video a thousand times and I just saw your comment.
Livie Chance Lucas nope, lucys right
DizzyDJ she was
This song HITS especially when she sings “you thought I was dumb but I think that’s someone’s judgement was poor”, I LOVE Elle and her personality!!!! 💞
This is my anthem at the moment. I'm 33 and back at college. Certain people believe I can't do it so this song helps me realise that I can!
I'm 30 and back at college too! Good luck to you Heather! I love this song
This song takes the breath out of you... probably one of hardest songs in the show.
shaqman145 well, tbf she's singing a high C for 5 bars
Honestly, this song makes me cry every time especially during the part where she calls her mom. Ugh. It gets me every time.
The visual at the end of the 9 people mirroring the Supreme Court is such a cool attention to detail. What a wonderful show
It’s also just how the name is spelled. Now, if they did that because of the number of letters, is a good thing to ask.
How you just gon cut that last note in this video.
Mel T probably so it won’t fall flat
@@gracejennings9034 they meant the video, it ends before she stops singing
I love how you can actually feel how happy she is.
this is incredibly moving. LBB ROCKS as Elle

She is a fantastic singer; that voice is so beautiful and powerful.
I get chills every time i hear laura sing.
This is probably my favourite scene from the Musical, the song, the energy, what I would give to be able to even have an ounce of LBB’s talent
I have been playing this song for quite a while, its one of my motivational song whenever I had hard time, work stress, graduate preparation stress, and even heartbreaks. I admit that I cried over my failures / over people and get up on my feet with new level of self worth again after hearing this (for the 127 times already. ). I feel it. Now let’s crush 2020.

This aged badly
You jinxed us
Well.
omg someone check on this person
2:14 That chorus after the bridge just hits so dang hard in the feels 😭
That’s my favorite part of the song, where the chorus backs up Laura’s vocals
My favorite song from my favorite musical.
Molly Donahue right
THE LINE “I DONT HAVE THE TIME TO CRY IM TO BUSY LOVING MY NAME UP ON THAT LIST” ALWAYS GIVE ME CHILLS
seriously. No one competes with Laura's version. No. One.
Laura's last few notes= Mega chills! I almost cry every time !!!
This is the absolute best song to listen to after a breakup. I needed this shit!
I think the song sounds better with a breath in the last note
So much better
same!
Anders Johnson hello much better
This is just so iconic and you can hear how proud she is gah I just love it
the hey mom part gets me everytime
This song just gets powerful to me the older I get.
This song is so empowering.
I got Serena for this! So pumped bc our first performance is tonight!
I'm about to start singing this for choir, I'm very excited :)
sammy brill YASSS!
When my ex boyfriend dumped me I thought my life was over. But, two minutes after he broke up with me,I got a phone call saying I was accepted to work in my new job.6 months after we broke up my career keeps getting better than before.
2:52 god, chills!! every single time!!🩷
It's all pink and bubblegummy, but now for the first time I can see that there's a deeper meaning to this song. Also, it's obviously a pain in the ass to perform. Everything requires a strong belting, every second bar introduces a new key… Laura Bell Bundy is just such a powerhouse.
I love the look on Emmett's face.
The song I sing everytime my name is on the cast list :') this will be definitely sung all day on Thursday if I pass my exams! :) I love Legally Blonde far to much, but I really don't care, it's so inspirational! :D

THE LAST NOTE I HAVE C H I L L S
Gonna audition for Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray with this song
+Mackenzie Lynne at least spell her last name correctly if you were auditioning back then! Lol
+Kimberly Lee what? That's how you spell Tracy Turnblad.
+Mackenzie Lynne oh shoot sorry! I read it wrong I thought u wrote turnblat! My bad :)
+Kimberly Lee yeah maybe next time don't criticize
It was not a criticism. It was a correction gone wrong.
You guys can say anything, but the chemistry between LBB Elle and Emmet is SO FREAKING GOOD, they did really well together
Gives me chills every single time
it cut off the jump! :(
I know I got so mad at that
Singing 16 bars of this for an audition next week, hairspray.
Oooo good choice! Gonna use that idea next time
You can't stop the beat girl
just this friday, for the first time, i saw my name on the honor roll list any instantly THIS SONG came into my mind! i really wanted to dance and sing on the spot to let the whole world know wat happened! :)
I always lip sync this then i try to sing and no
The abrupt cut. DX
The way that this song cuts off makes me sad.
...Did they just rhyme “love me again” with ”love me again” and ”working with you” with ”working with you”?
+sweetie buttons No and it doesn't have to rhyme
sweetie buttons i think the double "love me again" was to get the point across and the double "working with you" was definitely a pun!!! Two different meanings when she says it.

i never thought of it as rhyming, i think they do that to emphasize the meaning behind the line
Enid clapping and Sundeep holding his stomach gets me everyone 😂 @ 1:48
the fact that her big notes at the end were cut off is a national crime
LAURA KILLED THIS!! FOR SURE MY FAVE SONG OUTA THE ENTIRE MUSICAL I CANT STOP LISTENING TO IT😨😨
wow they showed Legally Blonde on MTV? Wish MTV still aired musicals!
Alex S. It was tie-in they did with a reality competition show they had to see who would be the next person to play Elle Woods; that’s why they should the musical in full!
*showed the
she is amazing. best Elle ever
I have a lot more appreciation for this show now after doing the junior version of Legally Blonde.
My school is doing it next year during the spring. I was so excited when they announced it because it's one of my favorite musicals. Is the Jr version just as good as the original one?
+hopeful filter oh god no. The junior version almost ruined this show for me. The took out all of the best parts.
Aaron Wachs like what? :0
HLGamez The entire gay or European scene was cut and all of the songs in the show were cut in half. And that is only to name a few.
***** that is basically a crime imo
Best song in the whole musical change my mind
I'm using this to get energy to study and honestly I feel so much better
I wish there’s a production of Legally Blonde I can be in. Elle Woods is one of my dream roles.
trust me one will pop up for u lb is rly common musical for schools and what not
Can't believe I'm playing this song right now, after I got passed my entrance exam in college T_T which it's been a year already I've been waited for so long to start college. So much better!
Laura Bell Bundy is so talented! My best friend played Elle before and she nearly lost her voice in this song. I also got to take over the role for the second show, she came back on closing night, we had a cast party and it was so fun!!!!
i love her she was in the OBC of hairspary
she has such a powerful voice!
Laura bell bundy is a legend.
Honestly, I think the orchestration of the MTV proshot sounds so much better than the album, even if the audio quality is lower
On tech week for this show right now and I seriously started paying so much attention to the lyrics “maybe she’s what you prefer, but hey last year I was her” and I had to take a step back cause I just went through a break up a few months ago and saw my ex get into a new relationship and I was just like “W O A H”
This song is so much cheaper than therapy
Even after all this time, this song still pulls my heartstrings and encourages me to keep moving forward. Thank you Laurel Bell Bundy for being the best Elle woods ever 💜
Lyrics
All of this time I planned I'd be patient and
You would love me again
You'd come to respect my mind and at last you'd find
You could love me again
And I have turned my whole world upside down
Trying not to let you go
Watching you walk away is like a fatal blow
Whoa! Is that my name up on that list?
Does someone know that I exist?
Is this a mistake? Am I even awake?
Pinch me now to make sure
Ow! Yes, that's my name in black and white
Maybe I'm doing something right
Wow! I feel so much better than before
Warner, sorry I've been a pest
But I guess my best was not working with you
But looks like I've found a cure
And I so look forward to working with you
What? Working with who?
Hey, remember when we spent spring break
In the hot tub every night
We said nothing else could ever feel so right
Well, this might!
Seeing my name up on that list
That beats the first time that we kissed
You thought I was dumb
But I think that somebody's judgment was poor
Seeing my name in black and white
It's like making love with you all night
No wait, it feel so much better, hello, much better
It's oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, much better
'Cause I am so much better than before
Yes, she's so much better than before
Yes, she's so much better than before
Maybe she's what you prefer
But hey, last year I was her
Maybe you will change your mind
But you might look up to find
I've gone on to better things
Better jobs or bigger rings
I don't have the time to cry
I'm too busy loving my name up on that list
Kind of a cool, ironic twist
Who else can I tell? Hoo! Wait, where's my cell?
Mom will fall on the floor
Hey mom!
Look at my name in black and white
Your daughter's doing something right
I feel so much better
I'll be there on Monday, 9 o'clock
And we will see who walks the walk
No, no, I can't wait, I will be there at 8
When they unlock the door
Oh, oh! I'll even dress in black and white
See, I have not begun to fight
And you'll go, oh, much better and oh, much better
And soon all y'all gotta know much better
I am so much better
I am so much better
I am so much better than before!
I am crying.
I just love this song it's the best Legally Blonde song
This version and this version only! LBB is flawless
Minhas preferida do musical, essa música é perfeita !

I loved being involved in ti
now this song is stuck in my head
Love this song
my fav elle
anyone know what dance move the turns she does during 'cool ironic twist' is?
it's kind of like a chainé turn in ballet but all she's really doing is spinning around in a circle
Piper Thomas wouldn't she get dizzy though as she's not spotting?
TRUE HOW DID SHE DO THAT I GET DIZZY WHEN SPOTTING SOMETIMES LOL
@@KatInventor no she is probably spotting very quickly....I took dance for 12 years....they train you to do it quickly so it looks seamless haha
"is that my name up on that list" my fav line. Reminds me of my name in the top students
This is my favourite song of all time. I feel so much better than before 😢😢❤️❤️
This is the best song! The american version is the best even though I am English!!
Really? Personally I like the original British casting of Elle for this song as she has a much more powerful voice and is slightly more energetic in the cast recording (a live one) than LBB here
Also LBB messes up quite a few notes here
ie the "doing" in "doing something right"
and the backing vocals aren't that great but it was probably MTV cutting costs by not having the backing cast or something of the sort
I still like the American one the best
Mary McClerklin To each his/her own I suppose
Mominaodiji LBB was sick and tired, also that doing was ad-libbing im pretty sure, and Sheridan Smith does not have a more powerful voice lol
I play this song everytime I get something I want
amazing and emotional. Laura Bell Bundy is a wonderful actress
