Jade is a threat to Rupert - he knows she can see through his bullshit and so made a play to try and get Jade out of Nate’s life, like putting Nate into a situation to destroy his relationship. But Nate saw it too, and backed out. You could see the light change in his eyes, EXCELLENT acting from Nick Mohammad.
This is the first time I actually liked jade or cared about her and Nate. “He seems wealthy” She clocked Rupert immediately. Colin finally getting recognition he deserves. He doesn’t have to hide anymore so I’m guessing he’s going to be a much better player now.
What I loved about the Roy press conference was that he showed Ted’s influence on him. That story that Roy told was something Ted would do and has done in the past to explain a situation. It was great to see Roy grow and Ted is having a massive influence on Roy which will lead Roy to happiness. I wouldn’t be surprised if Roy takes over for Ted and Nate returns as an assistant.
Watching Jade’s interaction with Rupert made me realize how much I would like to have her as a friend. She gives Rupert her “hostess” look and says her name is short for Jaded. Ha! About Rebecca: she ripped into Roy because of her genuine affection for him. She sees he is holding himself back. Guess now that she finished mentoring Keely she needs to find a new mentee. I love the ending so much. Isaac looks so sad when he thinks Colin didn’t trust him, his actions makes sense. Their conversation while playing video games is so funny but sweet, too. As for watching Rebecca walk away, I am a straight woman and I can’t stop looking at her, her figure is just amazing!
Rebecca also is pissed off at Roy for sabotaging his relationship with Keeley and thereby hurting her friend. What she says to Roy applies to Roy's life in general but also specifically to when he pushed Keeley away.
The writers were brilliant choosing the Richmond opponents to be Brighton and Hove Albion today. It was not by accident. Brighton the city, and its people is known for its openness and inclusivity, and has a large gay population as a result. Lovely choice by the writers to recognize that fact as well. Plus, Brighton and Hove Albion are an amazing football team. Up the Albion!
Also Rebecca wasn't talking about football when she was talking to Roy about what he wants. She made a comment earlier about Keeley going with someone who appreciates her
just finished the episode myself, on to watch you react. I was close to tears and nerver bored. thats the ted lasso show I fell in love with. left me feeling happy :D
This is the episode that won me over in regards to Jade. I also was really apprehensive to her relationship with Nate because of her mean girl-esq introduction. But when she meets Rupert, unlike every other woman who comes across him she's didn't pick up what he was selling once. And I totally respect her for that
Didn’t think I could love Rebecca anymore and then this season she blows me away. Love her telling Roy exactly what he needed to hear. Hannah Waddingham is a powerhouse and an absolutely stunning woman. Loved loved the support the team shows Colin. We’re not just going to say we don’t care and look the other way, we are embracing everything he is and going be there with him. What a show 💖
Second best episode of the seaosn after Sunflowerrs for me, like you said it was much more focused on the team which is where the show is at its best imo
If I remember correctly, Colin and Isaac were bbf’s in season 1 when they use to pick on Nate and were Jamie’s goons- so it makes sense that Isaac would take it so hard that Colin wouldn’t confide in him
Love the devolpment of Nate and Jade's relationship. Also, great to see all the team getting behind Colin and supporting, even if he is gay. Am loving Season 3, can't wait to see how it'll end, though, I don't want it to, either
Being a guy that has trouble using the 'L' word with my mates, it absolutely tore me up to hear Isaac and Collin's last few lines this episode. Made me love them both all the more.
Beautifully done. The A, B and C plots all. I liked that the writers were smart enough to leave us wondering about Isaac's motives, but then SHOWED us the reason, through his interaction with the loud fan, rather than simply telling us (although he later also told). Then in the B plot, the show was brave enough to have Roy be clearly wrong, clearly even a bit cowardly, then make up for it later in spectacular fashion. I even loved that REBECCA was the reaction the camera focused on in the press conference rather than Keeley. And the Nate plot was very minor, but still very edifying about his changing priorities. Great great episode. Almost as good as Ep 6.
This episode and the comments are reminding me that some day you should watch The King of Hearts, a fantastic film set in WWI France. This episode brought me to tears several times. The best was realizing that Isaac was angry but not about Colin but rather at him for not telling him sooner When he attacked the fan, I knew and it was amazing especially when Roy explained things to the press with his story. Amazing f'ing writing!!
I am on board with Jate! (Nade?) I loved their hug at the end. It was the type of hug that someone needs after something bad happens to them. It was also Nate choosing to be the person that Jade wants him to be and brings out in him, rather than the person that Rupert is trying to mold him in to. I still think that Jade's character was originally never meant to have any arc. So she was introduced as a one dimensional nemesis character to show how weak and meek Nate was in not being able to get the special table in a meaningless restaurant his family frequents on their special night. And then her scenes were so good they expanded her role. Showing her cold to Rupert was a smart attempt to try to show why she might have been cold to Nate that she has that side of her personality but Rupert deserved it while Nate never did.
I think his plan was finding a way to cut her out of Nate's life by getting him to hook up with one of the ladies at the bar. Glad to see Nate say to himself, if not out loud, that he knows he wants Jade over everything else.
Some subtext a lot of US folks missed in the Rupert-Nate-Jade interaction: there's a lot of anti-Polish sentiment in the UK. They're seen by guys like Rupert as lower class.
"La cage aux folles" is a 70s French play about a gay couple that was later made into a musical and 2 movie adaptations (The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane is the American version). It literally translates to "The crazy women's cage", but in this case, "folles" is used as a French slang for gay men. And, yes, you did butcher its pronunciation
Jack White for best rock guitarist. My explanation for that is just subjective conjecture but it feels like the right choice in this moment. Thanks for the speedy and positive uploads.
i love this episode, the only thing i wish ; the episode was about 40ish min long but i wish they added like 10 more minutes of it to add Colins assists that led to Richmonds comeback win
As a Denver resident, can confirm. However, Denver (while quickly becoming unaffordable) has metal as fuck elements. Like our mascot, Blucifer. The giant blue horse sculpture at our airport that killed its creator. And our rugby. And green chile. (Think that’s it tho)
There were some great moments in this episode, but I think some of it probably simmered just a bit too long for it to feel natural. Like Isaac giving Colin the cold shoulder for such a long time without saying anything. He waited a bit too long to just be... hurt that Colin didn't trust him enough to ever say anything. "What is there about me that would make you think I wouldn't be okay with it?" Is a VERY valid thing to feel and to say... but Colin gave him every chance to come out with it before he did. Maybe... is that the lesson, here? Was that the entire point? I feel like that might EXACTLY be the point of that conflict in this episode. Isaac is hurt because he thinks Colin wouldn't accept him as an ally... and Colin didn't tell anybody because he thought Isaac (and the team by extension) wouldn't accept Colin as an ally. Like Walt Whitman said... "Bicurious. Not judgmental."
Speculation among my friends is that Rupert will try to have Jade deported, since she's from Poland. A couple of my friends from the UK have reminded me that after 'Brexit', he can do that now. Oh, and as much (as an American) as it pains me to say it..guitar player is Brian May.
There is no best classic rock guitarist. I’m not going to choose between Hendrix, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour… There’s so many greats, it’s impossible to choose. Clapton, Harrison, Springsteen, Brian May. Van Halen counts as classic rock. Seriously, too many greats to pick.
Yes, that's the literal translation, but folles is an old French slang for gay men. The play the title is based of (La cage aux folles) is about a gay couple
In spanish, the movie title was translated to “la jaula de las locas”, the cage of crazy woman. But “locas” was also a way to talk about flamboyant gays (don’t think is derogatory now, cause at least in Spanish gays embrace terms that once tried to be derogatory)
I wonder if Rupert mixing up the names is him having neurological issues, in addition to being a colossal ass. With Jade, I think it's supposed to mean that he doesn't rate her as important based on her job and who she's dating.
The first time I watched this ep, I thought Rupert was going to make a play for Jade. Then when I just watched again with you, I wonder if Rupert may know her. Or he’s her father. Knowing her name and background. I could be overthinking
ufff mate, that would be a big twist. I think he slept with her and never calls her back. That´s why she was so cold towards Richmond´s people or general people xD. She felt betrayed so she put her defenses way up to avoid pain.
I agree. Him guessing she is from the South of Poland is what clinches it for me. Her accent in English is almost imperceptible, no way he can place her based on that.
I love that everyone accepted Colin but can I play Devils advocate for a second? The one issue I sometimes have with this show is that everyone on the team is okay or not okay with something. On a football team like this, at least one guy isn't going to be comfortable with a gay teammate. The odds that an entire team is cool with it is slim. I might just be thinking too much.
no your right, and that was something i have thought about since we learned colin was gay statistically, there would be a player or two who would not be cool with it, or at least would need more time to get cool with it, especially players form country's where homosexuality is less accepted. However, Ted has made the expectations of exclusivity, and team togetherness very clear with these players. How close this team is together is realistic but also not super common, and the show spent 3 whole seasons building this team's trust and acceptance of each other to a whole new level. So in the world of ted lasso, It is possible that everyone on the team would accept Collin simply because of the unique family like culture that has been built. Also because of that culture, even if a player or two does need time to accept collin being gay, they would not be vocal about it because they would know their view goes against the team culture.
And the seminal number from the show, "I Am What I Am," is what is playing at the end. The movie The Birdcage (Robin Williams, Nathan Lane) is based on the same source material.
He called her Kate. And the subtle inference about her accent. Wondering if she was one of his conquests at one time.
This is the first time I actually liked jade or cared about her and Nate. “He seems wealthy” She clocked Rupert immediately.
Colin finally getting recognition he deserves. He doesn’t have to hide anymore so I’m guessing he’s going to be a much better player now.

That's what I thought too. Very Ted thing to do.

You knew Nate saw what Rupert is. He’s now released he’s a complete opposite to Rebecca and Ted. What changed halfway was Zava leaving

Instantly subscribed.
And Coach Beard's press conference was a hell of a watch!
"Its not a competition! Its art you Neanderthal!" has not left my brain since I watched this episode lol, an amazing line lol

Same
Being a guy that has trouble using the 'L' word with my mates, it absolutely tore me up to hear Isaac and Collin's last few lines this episode. Made me love them both all the more.
Jade is the best in this episode.
All the characters are nebulous, as are people in general.
As an American guitarist, I never laughed so hard at a debate in a show.
Also the answer is of course is Hendrix for best classical rock guitarist.
I can only imagine how much you enjoyed that 🤣🤣
Where does Harrison rank in your opinion?
@FWCI Etc in terms of classical rock guitarist, he's in my top 10, but as a musican/songwriter, he's in my top 3.
@zbennalley I like hearing that lol.
I did a reaction to all 3 episodes of Get Back if your interested
Stevie Ray Vaughan too
Beard absolutely slaughtered that scene. He was so funny
Rebecca did get the question correct btw. "The guy from Cream"... Eric Clapton, best classic rock guitarist
Sooo happy about this episode... everything about it feels like its back to its roots now. Just wholesome & ♥️ & light.. :)
And not a moment too soon!

Came for the Ted Lasso reactions, staying for the apparent wide variety of other cool stuff here and the brilliant intro...Subscribed! 👍✌❤
The perfect comment. Welcome aboard Bob!
Another banger episode. I feel unease with Rupert like he is flirting with Jade and will try to steal her from Nate.
I think his plan was finding a way to cut her out of Nate's life by getting him to hook up with one of the ladies at the bar. Glad to see Nate say to himself, if not out loud, that he knows he wants Jade over everything else.
and Jade is way too smart for that tactic! She genuinely seems to love Nate. and the music playing in the background!! Perfect...
Rupert immediately flagged her as someone he couldn’t manipulate, which makes her dangerous to have in Nate’s life.

The football scenes are hard and expensive to film. I wonder if they did try to film that and weren't happy with the footage and scrapped it.

In the end, any guitar players that had the Pick of Destiny is worthy of the crown. To me is Angus Young by far.
