Otis, you are such a lovely human. I played a horn band gig in Sweden (in a gazebo, in a park--so American) many decades ago, and while most young Europeans have English in their front pocket, this guy didn't. We couldn't understand each other and he left. He showed up with a sax, sat next to me, and we read the same charts (our shared language) and had a blast, smiling at each other and speaking the same language.
I absolutely love your HONESTY Otis. You're a real human. A citizen. A person. Kind. Considerate. We need more people--well maybe we have a lot, but they're too shy to say--like you. Keep on keepin' on my friend.
I've had a beard 30+ years. Folks are always suggesting dye or oil or some other fashionable product. Nobody understands I'm avoiding facial maintenance.
Hi Otis, This is Miguel from Mallorca. I remember you mentioned once Micah Schnabel. I love Two Cow Garage and I think they haven't put out an album for quite some time. So here is the question for you: since I asume you know them, do you know if they are still active as a band? Nobody ever talks about them, at least in Spain... Pretty sad. Your channel is just heaven on earth for us freaks
' me two. in Lakota, i use word, Ishma- man with hair on face'.. i have been clean when married. but most of adult life grew a brew. or few. i wish can just play me guitar and be appriciated, maybe motel room paid..
I've had a long beard since 78, the whole beard care thing was funny to me, too. Man I enjoy my coffee with you outside and today was no exception, great way to start the day . Even if you ain't no Limp Biscuit (which by the sound of it might be a good thing!) Have a great week, Otis!!
I last shaved in 1983. I had my 2 year old daughter in the bathroom while I trimmed it off and finally shaved so she would know what was going on. Well that lasted for 2 weeks. She would hear my voice talking in another room and would run in looking for me. She didn't see "me" and ran out calling for daddy. Haven't shaved since.
Good mornin Otis. Good chat today. Just chillin in the wild west, abit east of Joshua Tree waitin on some rain for the weekend. One thing i Love about being out this way, it sure is a big deal when there is some rain. Well thanks man and make it a good one. Peace
I SOOO get those folks never wanting to put on another event again. We’ve had many many band events here at the farm. I’m cooked. Done. Jam sessions & practices only. 🫣🫠 I’m the band hostess/mom & I’m tired.
Catheryndenton, get some rest, and please continue putting on shows. Without people like you what would musicians do? The music “business” is unfortunately is a necessary part of keeping music alive. Musicians are having a hard way to go as the “business” is going through changes. If you just can’t do it anymore, please pass along the knowledge you’ve learned along the way. It could potentially help some amazing musician struggling to be heard in a meaningful way. Thanks for doing what you do! Best,
Sunshine - I too had a wonderful time putting on all our events - don’t get me wrong- I had a great time. And I too have some stories best left untold 😂
Ha, we're telling beard stories. ... I had a great friend (R.I.P. Bobby) told me he just one day quit shaving, (in high school!!) after about 10 years he wasretty scruffy lookin ,...his mom, dad, sister's and grandmother would constantly tell him he needed to shave that mess off. One thanksgiving he decided to surprise them and shaved it off, when he walked in they all said at the same time .... GROW IT BACK!!

Morning Otis. Can't wait for Fall to start in Georgia. Thanks for the Beard Philosophy. Walt Whitman, Ha-ha-ha! May we all go natural! Mine needs taming, so I'm going to keep on with the beard butter!! Ya-Hoo!!
Otis, this was maybe my favorite video by you that I've ever seen, great video! I loved to hear you share about playing other people's songs and them playing your songs, plus the beard commentary was awesome! Most interesting last five minutes of a video I have seen in a long time, and no, you don't sound like a smart-alek at all.
Yes, I remember the video you did from Sweden. Can’t tell you when or what you talked about, but it was interesting and entertaining as all your videos are.
O.G., do you ever play North Carolina? Id love to see you. BTW, Richard Lewis has a new channel on UA-cam called Alive and Unwell and he featured Todd Snider, who is a friend of his, good friend they said. Thought you'd like to know that folks.
givne how often the topic of any aritst promoter event producer etc whatever winds up if the gig is good as i say someONE is exhausted and often saying im never doing that again but winds up doing it again....so i wonder if those promtoers ever didnt do it again actually
I'm probably doing it wrong but I just use the same shampoo and conditioner as my hair. My beard varies from short to full Santa depending on my mood and this gets me by.
I would love to see Taylor, cover one of your songs, and have it blow up! I think that would restore my faith in the music business. Local boy makes Good! I love your song, about ol’whiskers, and realize it puts a smile on my face every time I hear it.
I have a question for Otis: A lot of songwriters have creative process that's sift for ideas/first draft/rewrite/final version... Mine sift/sift more/write final draft first/final version. What's your songwriting output process?
Otis, songs seem to take on a life of their own. They’re written, and rewritten. Then they’re sent off into the world to find their way. They travel on long after the writer is gone. Any thoughts? Best,
Otis, you are such a lovely human.

He pulled the Limp Bizkit card. That's harsh! Lol
I agree … Limp Bizkit ?😂
I absolutely love your HONESTY Otis. You're a real human. A citizen. A person. Kind. Considerate. We need more people--well maybe we have a lot, but they're too shy to say--like you. Keep on keepin' on my friend.
Thanks brother, you're appreciated.
“Walt Whitman starter kit.” What a great line😅!
Matt Boyer is from Zionsville. I met him in high school once. He played with Sun Kil Moon at one point
You know- there's a guy in Bloomington called 'Jason Wilbur' who played guitar for John Prine.
But I can't find an interview on your channel.
My friend and I are in a beard-growing contest. It's neck and neck right now.
I've had a beard 30+ years. Folks are always suggesting dye or oil or some other fashionable product. Nobody understands I'm avoiding facial maintenance.

Funny how a photo can change your mood. "Pictures from a Box", a song I wrote in 2020, captures that sentiment.
I’ll look it up. The title sure grabbed me with memories of doing just that at family gatherings and such.
@@melodymakermark jd Wilson original songs is where to find it, on UA-cam
You talked about being the first guy they promoted

i think the video you did in Sweden was about travelling with guitars on flights cv.
I think you played a Guthrie song the first time I ever saw you (Bristol, 1000 years ago give or take).
Otis, WAY better than Limp Bizket, I too saw the Falkenberg vid. Great stuff!
Get yer coffee!
Love listening every Saturday morning with my coffee. I have a question. Is there a place in North America that you would love to perform at?
Enjoy the cool weather. It's not going to last. It was cool here in KS yesterday, and it's 110° today.
Morning Otis. Can't wait for Fall to start in Georgia. Thanks for the Beard Philosophy. Walt Whitman, Ha-ha-ha! May we all go natural! Mine needs taming, so I'm going to keep on with the beard butter!! Ya-Hoo!!
Hey Otis, can you talk with Amy once in a while ? I'd like to see who you refer to with the stories.
Amy probably has Otis stories. Otis my favorite pod cast
Songs should sung. You're sounding like Pete Seeger . . which is a pretty fabulous thing.
id play otis music proudly howver not so well....careful i may just figure something out lol.....ill take all the blame and ...conswuences
Walt Whitman! Too funny 😁 😂. I saw that video you made when you were in Sweden.
Good morning everyone! Good show Otis and I remember the show by the river. Thanks
I’m now waiting for a new record called “Not as good as a Limp Biscuit”.
Otis, this was maybe my favorite video by you that I've ever seen, great video! Fond memories for an artist's life are treasures monetary wealth and fame become vacant doing time on a dark night of the soul.
Limp Bizkit - HAHAHAHAHAHA - uh....
O.G., do you ever play North Carolina? Id love to see you. BTW, Richard Lewis has a new channel on UA-cam called Alive and Unwell and he featured Todd Snider, who is a friend of his, good friend they said. Thought you'd like to know that folks.
Saw you at Falkenberg this spring (yeah, March) and a couple of times before also. Hope to see you there again.
givne how often the topic of any aritst promoter event producer etc whatever winds up if the gig is good as i say someONE is exhausted and often saying im never doing that again but winds up doing it again....so i wonder if those promtoers ever didnt do it again actually

I love your song, about ol’whiskers, and realize it puts a smile on my face every time I hear it.
Happy Saturday, Otis
Thank you for being you and doing what you do.
Be good to you 🙏🏻🤍
I saw the Falkenberg vlog
I have a question for Otis:
A lot of songwriters have creative process that's sift for ideas/first draft/rewrite/final version... Mine sift/sift more/write final draft first/final version.
What's your songwriting output process?
Stop trimming your stash. Go Jeff Skunk Baxter with it.
We must meet so much in common. Love your content!
not as good as limb biscuit but were ok...story of our lives
Otis, songs seem to take on a life of their own. They’re written, and rewritten. Then they’re sent off into the world to find their way. They travel on long after the writer is gone.
Any thoughts?
Best,
You didn't play in Gothenburg last time you were in Sweden, did you? Why? You were at the west coast.
Thanks
👌☕️😎
Hey Otis..
I totally remember that walk you took. Beautiful place.
Johnny Cash would’ve been a great person to cover Old Whiskers. You remind me of him when you sing it.
Yes, you were here in March.
Enjoyed todays visit, much love
Didn’t you talk about your airline troubles by the river?
Great episode Otis!!here’s my beard advice , I don’t do anything to it but let it grow 😂 and Otis I too hate shaving with a passion!! 🐿️😎🐿️
I would give anything to see Taylor Swift record and perform your song "Big Whiskers"!!
Good Day...life wont wait...
Morning Otis
