Karrar Striker Tank

- For years, Iran has avoided developing its own technology by simply copying the most successful weapons from other nations, and it recently put its eyes on one of the world’s most powerful tanks in order to bolster its defenses and deter the West from trying to influence the Islamic country.
The Karr or Striker heavy tank is a highly modified Soviet-era T-7 tank that has been updated with state-of-the-art technology to perform at the same level as the Russian T-90.
Iran claims that its so-called “domestically designed tank” is as powerful as any other main battle tank in the world, and they have built a massive manufacturing industry around it, having allegedly produced over 800 Karr tanks in an aggressive move that seeks to drastically increase their defense capabilities and their technological military prowess.
Several military analysts doubt that the Karrar can perform similarly to the T-90 as the Iranian regime claims, but if only a fraction of what they promise is true, the Middle Eastern nation could grow to become one of the greatest threats to Western democracies… - Наука та технологія

As much as I love the T-90 series, I can't help but be mildly infuriated by 1 major flaw in both the A and M variant (yes, the ammo carousel is also a flaw since it's obviously going to cook off from most hits, but I'm overlooking that) and that is the atrocious *_reverse speed_* of only 4 km/h. If the Iranians managed to give the tank an upgraded transmission that can go faster than that, tactically it's already a huge improvement. However, considering that some Chinese MBTs reverse engineered from the T-72 series maintain the same reverse speed... it's likely that the Karrar Striker still has that 4km reverse speed...
This 'bug' of old soviet T-72 and early T-90 was already fixed on newest T-90M and modern versions of T-72B3M, they both do have new gearbox that provides them with ability to reach reverse speed about 15 km/h or more.
@@sailorf585 Only a handful of T-90Ms and all T-80s have different than "4km/h" transmissions which allow reversing at speed. All T-72s and all T-90s still use the old transmission. No, it is not an easy feat to pull off.

If it's anything like the tanks currently being used in the Ukraine by Russian forces., the Iranians have just developed their first suborbital spacecraft if Western anti armor has the same effect. Can you imagine a company of these being hit by a artillery Counter-Strike mission?
LOL, the world's first Suborbital tank turret
It depends, if they actually train and maintenan them.
The Russians would have the exact same problem they're having now no matter if they used T34s or M1A2s.
A mostly broken down, out of fuel tank with no infantry support and a crew that barely knows how to drive it, is near worthless, weather it be a obsolete WWII tank or a modern Western tank.
A Javelin would knock out a Abrams just as easily. The diffence is, American likely wouldn't send lone tanks to combat with no fuel and wouldn't bunch them up for artillery to nail.
@@SilverStarHeggisist I disagree, the root of the problem regardless of maintenance or tactical considerations is Russian design philosophy. The rounds are stored in a circle close to the hull and the autoloader. Even a non penetration round like a HESH will kill the crew and spark the ammo inside. The over pressure inside will send the turret skyward. Abrams's ammo is stored behind blast doors, so rounds will not cook off. Iraq, Iran, and china all use this same design gleaned from the T-72
@@brentdallyn8459 the tank was perfect for tank to tank engagement because of its low profile, making the ammo rake at the bottom was a good idea since it would'nt usually get hit,the m4 sharman also had a bottom ammo rack.

Air superiority trumps any armored force. Rommel learned that lesson. Lack of it is what Russia is experiencing. If you can see it, you can kill it. Birds eye view always brings the advantage.
Dont forget about the Turret can fly very high
Yeah those auto loaders make the tank a driving bomb
It looks like it copied the west's armored ammo storage, if so it's far less likely to fly.
After all, the autoloader is mostly fine, it's storing ammo throughout the crew compartment that sends things flying.
Iranians can claim their tankers are Irans first astronauts
Every turret tank can fly
The Iranians would have to do quite a bit of upgrading to turn it into the wonder weapon this video is making it out to be. In 91, the US military coined tank plinking where they turned Iraqi tanks in to smoke holes with 500lbs GBU-12. That tactic still works today
The JDAM has both SAL and GPS allow it be dropped in GPS mode then guided by SAL which gives the target very little warning even if its moving
The Israel made Spike NLOS can perform a 90 drop vertical drop on target. Again bypass APS
The Hellfire like the JDAM fired in GPS mode then guided by SAL
The US is not going waste time trying bring armor when their aircraft can easily overwhelm Iran's forces at any range
You talk about Iran and you forget others nations have nuclear weapon in region
Tanks aren’t much use against top kill drones. Tanks need something to shoot at to be of any use.
T72 now destroyed M1A1 with AT-11 missiles 😊
The HM 12 Fateh (or Hadid) is an Iranian mortar. It is a copy of Israel's Soltam 60 mm mortar that was sold to the US, who then let them get captured by the Iranian militias in Iraq who gave them to the Ayatollah.
The Soltam has a very high fire rate which is why the US bought it from Israel.
Even if it was close to being a T90 what shoulder launched weapon is eating them alive in Ukraine? I don't think so. They have a third gen look with possible 2nd gen tech. Yet you lost those wars in most humiliating ways. Your Tanks and Technology didn’t help as they are turning to scrap Metals in Ukraine.
I stand corrected, the most humiliating defeat was leaving Kabul Airport in Haste leaving behind billions of dollars high tech JUNKS. You are slave to your arm manufacturing complexes that are laughing their hearts out.
You should talk to Peter Zeihan.
Because of recent events, many platforms are close to obsolete. How will tanks survive against new anti tank weapons? It doesn't look good.
I don't think tanks are any more obsolete than helicopters. But Ukraine is showing I was correct back in the 1980's. The Warsaw Pact was adding hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles every year and the US was wringing its hands on how to repel the iron tsunami. My idea was to make every soldier a tank killer and the WP would be choked by its own piles of wreckage. Back then we had the TOW a rather cumbersome, heavy unit and the light duty LAW. I forget what the Brits had.
Today, 2022 that idea is FAR more a reality than 40 years ago. I've really been impressed by the much lighter weight and much much higher lethality of anti-armor weapons. Throw in the greater accuracy plus fire-and-forget aspects and having thousands of tanks is no longer a guarantee you'll bulldoze anyone.
Tanks/heavy armored vehicles will never be obsolete, think about it man lol. They can get outdated tho but its better then anything without armor or just using infantry which would be quite dumb. Ofc tho AT weapons will definitely get more and more better at taking them down, Also the way they were using their vehicles/armored vehicles were horrible…
