    Hi Emilie. I love your bug macro shots. I’ve been practicing on small items indoors this winter waiting for spring. Popcorn is fun in macro! But I never have images as big as yours. I have em 1 Mk 2 and the 60 mm Zuiko lens set at 1:1. Do you crop in post to make them even bigger? The eyes on your bugs are huge!! Thanks. Scott

    Nice video. Thank you. I have observed that you use a quite closed aperture: f/14, f/16

    • @EmilieT
      @EmilieT  Рік тому

      Yes when I do macro and don't use bracketing or stacking, I am often using f/14 and even higher. Depth of field is key.

    Nice video clip as usual Emilie. I have been out with an addition LED Constant Light / Flash unit. The best configuration I found is to have one unit on the camera bracket and one as a mobile unit which can be used with a ground spike, handle or on a light tripod or monopod. There is the facility to also mount the second unit onto the camera bracket with a small bendable arm. And yes, getting the light correct is important. I am able to control the colour of my units which can be useful in conjunction with the camera WB. Like you I still have my 60mm macro lens which with the OM-5 , that I do not have, must weigh virtually nothing !! My system is considerably heavier😏🤨. Keep on posting. Great to see how you operate and hear your opinions 🥰🥰

      Thank you my friend! The most important is that you feel comfortable with your system and found something that works for you. Would love to see you set up when you have time. You should post it on instagram!

    As an EM5 mark iii and 60 mm macro user your video and images were great! Excellent information delivered in a clear manner. Decided to upgrade my diffuser so I hope this will improve my macro images.
    Would you consider doing a video on how you process your images?

      Decided on the Cygnustech in the end, the ability for it to fold flat was a factor. What flash are you using? I have a Godox TT 350o perhaps the V model would have been a better choice. Looking forward to your editing video, simple works for me! Best Peter

    Awesome timing! Tomorrow morning I'm heading for a macro walk at Sydney botanical Gardens with my workmates from the Photo Club. I have my 60mm macro on EM1.2 and 26mm extensions tubes. My friend is also bringing her Raynox250 so I'll try some extreme magnification 😂 unfortunately a great deal on Godox V350 and a bespoke diffuser for this flash/lens combo fell through, so will have to rely on the natural light 😂 let's see what I get 😀

      Have fun! natural light works well too and if the sun is too bright just make some shade. Hope you capture great images!

      @EmilieT thanks so much! It was a nice session, tried to play around with the dew drops, but got nowhere close to your waterdrop masterpieces. Also tried adding a 16mm distance ring to my 60mm macro, but it makes the workable range of close focus so narrow that it's almost unworkable hand-held :) I'm happy with some hand-held focus stacked flowers though!

    • @EmilieT

    Nice photos and useful tips. I am also using the OM-5 and 60 macro for macro photography. I also use the 90 Mscro on my OM-1. Both are very good. I do like the smaller size of the OM-5 with the 60 Macro. Yhen again I get more success with the OM-1 and the 90 Macro, plus the ability of going closer than 1:1.

    • @EmilieT
      @EmilieT  Рік тому +1

      Yes I agree I love the barrel on the 90mm and having more control on the magnification and composition. But for a small set up the 60mm macro is brilliant.

    Emilie you seem to use diffusers rather than the olympus macro stf 8 dedicated flash as do many olympus ambassadors doees this mean that they diffusers are much better and cheaper.

    • @EmilieT
      @EmilieT  Рік тому +1

      It is just a preference. I know a few people who love the stf 8. I think AK diffuser might actually be working on a diffuser for the stf 8...

    Nice photos. Nice neighborhood. Those tabs/reflectors on the bottom of the diffuser supposed to be down farther to push light up to the sides of your subject? Thanks for any replies. The new Oly’s are great for macro as far as I can see on you tube.

    I think with the flash and diffuser it still looks bulky, which I assume is why you didn’t include them in the thumbnail. I’m sure it’s quite a bit lighter though so that would make a difference if you’re walking for a while without putting it away. But then there’s also the thing of having multiple cameras, which if you’re semi-pro or pro makes sense, but for me wouldn’t. Especially when I’m trying to reduce my consumption as much as I can. And on top of that, I don’t like how they didn’t change the OM-5 interface to match the OM-1. That’s the biggest thing that is really unacceptable in my book. That should have been the bare minimum thing they did with the company rebrand.
