that's funny - i've never realized that the time limit might be a problem in the newer versions of the super mario games. nevertheless: in super mario bros 1 (NES) you usually can complete all levels within the time limit. but there was 1 level (i think in world 8?) which kills you if you don't run the level. (at the nearly end of the level there was 1 big and a small hole leading to kill yourself)

I was today years old when I realized that SM2 (Doki Doki Panic) didn’t have a timer.
For some reason when I was little, having the timer was as frighten as the underwater timer in the Sonic games.
Meanwhile, Sonic games gave you 10 minutes to finish a level.
(They removed that limitation when the 3D games came out)
