Amazing Grace Solo Vibraphone | EZVibes

Funny story with this one - I had just recorded playing along to a funky backing track of Inner Urge and had even just finished editing the video, but something just didn't feel right about it. I just say whatever, some weeks are better than others, and tear down my recording stuff. I go to do my daily play-through of a folk song, this time Amazing Grace, and on-the-spot come up with this little arrangement. So of course I re-setup my recording stuff and get this (after a few takes). Pretty cool what spontaneity can do!
It's easy to forget to just focus on melodies, and, even further, melodies that everyone knows. It's also easy to get caught up in all the complex theory and notes (trust me, I still am). I like doing stuff like this bc I can use this theory knowledge to make those reharmonizations that bring out certain parts of the melody. After all, theory is just a toolbox of colors available to use. Dig?
