    We have a red 2017 Micro Minnie 2106DS (towed by a red pickup) and it’s been working out great. The layout, size, and good workmanship is what sold us on this trailer. I’m glad your modifications have worked out so well for you. Have fun on your travels. 😃

      For the first three RV trips we made, we were in a 29' fifth wheel. For those three trips, we got pull through sites. After that third trip, Sharon said she thought backing in would be easier than trying to get the fifth wheel straight enough to unhitch it.

    I am happy to hear that you are loving your RV. It seems that a big part of it is that you modified it to suit your needs. You were talking about getting rid of the RV table. It always amazes me that you have these tiny little campers with huge dinettes. My Casita dinette would sit 4 or maybe even 6 if I used it instead of making that my bed space. Safe travels ladies.

      The companies need to realize there is a great need for twin bed plans. Even married couples might not always want to sleep together, and travel mates are often not going to sleep together. I shudder when i see reviews with one huge bed after another. Besides, like you two did, twin beds can be another place to hang out. The wardrobe cabinet between the beds was genius.

    Just saw this because I’ve been looking at the Micro Minis. If I ever get another camper I think these would be at the top of the list, however, I suspect they cost more than the other brands. BTW, propane tanks are designated by their weight not volume. They make 20, 30 and 40 POUND cylinders, not gallons. I think a lot of the new small campers are using 20 pounders. The best size is 30 which last a lot longer - which is what I had with 100 pounders when parked stationary at my long term site.

    • @TwoTiredTeachers

    • @TwoTiredTeachers
      @TwoTiredTeachers  3 роки тому +2

      @@invaliduser1d You ask a hard question. With Covid RV sales are up. Dealers can ask whatever they want. Tomorrow I'll ask Sharon if she remembers how much we paid, but just know that it's a really different market now.

    • @TwoTiredTeachers
      @TwoTiredTeachers  3 роки тому +2

      Dan, I asked Sharon how much we paid, and we discussed it. Our best recollection is $21,000. I don't know if $25, 000 is a good price for today's market. Remember, you will probably want to replace the tires on it, and that's another chunk of change.

    Been following you lady's recently and you have too many liquid containers/cups lol But love how you're keeping it real. That one item you mention "the extra counter space in front of the sink" I would have never thought about that THANK YOU! We are leaning towards the Winn 21 (2020)due to quality for the price and width " I like that it's only 7'ft wide. Less wind resistance and easier maneuvering. A foot can mean allot for some especially full-timers. Also, it's not that heavy for a camper of its size. The Winn lacks some interior style and lame placement of the LED, the interior is little dated for my taste but yet that's OK. The exterior is really nice. I'm not there yet, another 7-8 years God Willing? Or may not since I love boating /fishing. Maybe spend summers way up North inside a camper and winters right here Miami, Fla/South Florida. And as for the stuff, just kidding; you're loving retirement. Blessing from Miami, Fla

    • @TwoTiredTeachers
      @TwoTiredTeachers  4 роки тому +2

      We do have a lot of cups, glasses, and pitchers; we are sipping tea, water, or sodas from the time we get up until we go to bed.
      You would be surprised how much difference one foot less in width makes. No one likes road construction, but having a 7' wide trailer makes it so much easier.
      .I will tell you that our gas mileage increased once we traded the truck for the van. There is less wind resistance with the van.
      Finally, we are loving retirement. It's the best job either of us has ever had.

    • @jesserevilla992
      @jesserevilla992 4 роки тому +1

      2 TT would had never thought about road constructions Another Great Point 👍 Just think once National infrastructure funding gets approved; The 7 wide and smaller trailers will have the advantage. The van sounds great and I get that it cuts allot of wind resistance to the front of the coach and makes sense. Your two are a wealth of information. Thank you .. Tks for review after a year of use. Glad its worked out well for you.This model with queen bed is our top pick. My one hesitation, can I do the setup/ hook unhook etc Solo when hubby can’t join me? and Why considering a Class B. (I’m thinking long haul trips)but like the extra space the Micro Minnie gives. Agree prefer 7’ width. Happy for you two, great to see sisterly love😊 enjoy your channel Tks.

    • @TwoTiredTeachers
      @TwoTiredTeachers  4 роки тому +1

      About hitching and unhitching solo, Sharon does 99% of our hitching and unhitching by herself. It is very doable.
      If you decide on a Micro Minnie with a queen, I need to tell you that you will have almost no room on the wall side and the end of the bed. Also, whatever you decide on, stand in the shower to see if it's tall enough to accommodate your husband. The ceiling is not at all high. Sharon and I have no trouble, but we're only about 5'6".
      Class Bs are wonderful and roomier than you might think. One reason we didn't consider one is the cost. They don't come cheap. We saw a great used one, but it was more than $80,000.
      We hope you find your perfect RV.

    hello from the snowy ozarks milena and sharon! awesome camper! love the spacious room inside with the sides in. just pull over and easy access to frige and toilet. now with covid toilets are tricky to find. love the double axles with 14in. tires that gives extra support. i agree having the step ladders in front of the axles is an asset. how are the bath vinyl curtains holding up? and the shower exhaust fan. i like less is better with bed arrengement. i like being able to segregate between beds! great set up! tight lines and grace be with you!

      The shower curtain did have a small tear. We don't know if it was caused by dog, cat, or human. Sharon got some gorilla tape, I think, and repaired it. The exhaust fan is working like it's supposed to. It's the perfect set up for us and our animals.

    Any reliability issue with the slide so far? I prefer no slide but cannot get a murphy bed in a smaller unit (20 feet, 1708FB) that has no slide.

      We had to reset it once, but that's the only problem we've had. This past year we have been gone for the equivalence of 4 months, never staying in one place for more than 4 nights (except for one stay of 6 nights). After resetting on the first trip of the year, we've had no problem.

    Would you still buy it again or recommend the Micro Minnie 1708FB? Is the quality holding up?I got rid of my 2018 Sale Cruise Lite by Forest River, very cheaply made! Very poor quality.

      For the originals, go to the beginning of the video. See the little "i" in the upper right corner? If you click on that, we have two videos. The first is the trailer as it was when we first bought it. The second is the modifications. Bates Handyman Services did the renovations. Billy had never worked on an RV before we took ours to him.

    So glad we found you! We are 2 tired soon-to-be-retired grandparents of 12 with a dream of touring the country in a travel trailer. After viewing this video we think we have found the perfect trailer for US. You did a really impressive job of explaining the how and why of the layout and modifications- we would have passed this trailer by because of the bed and lack of counter space, but now we see that simple modifications can make a huge difference.
    Would you mind sharing how you found someone to do the modifications?

    • @TwoTiredTeachers
      @TwoTiredTeachers  4 роки тому +1

      I worked with a woman whose husband does renovations on homes. I felt sure he could do the RV, and he was willing to try although he had never done an RV. We are very pleased with his work.
      Ask friends for recommendations. I'd do that rather than randomly calling someone.

    when purchasing an RV for the family I had two main criteria. 1st was I wanted to be able to purchase cash. Second, I did not want to have to purchase a new vehicle to pull it. ( I have a 1500 chevy truck I use for home depot runs for work.) I was able to purchase a 16 foot trailer (was surprised that the smaller the trailer the more it cost in many cases!) We love it. I hadn't thought about a small trailer being an advantage until I started booking sites. Our trailer and most times truck too can fit in any spot including tent sites.

    We have the same model (color too) and are at the one year mark as well. I like a lot of the modifications you made. Now you've got me thinking about removing the oven and microwave and putting in more storage. A comment about the color - we mostly camp and in very woodsy campgrounds. While it is obviously and very different color for camper, it's fun to tell people "the blue camper" and they know right where you are and being a dark color, it blends into the background .
