As a 14y/o wobbling round on a TL125 then a TY I idolised his dad Martin. Along with all the great trials riders of the time. Took the day off work to travel up to Yorkshire for his funeral. I sat on the wall outside the church but plucked up the courage to venture closer. I’m glad I did now absolute legendary family in the trials world 🏆

A lovely man. I've had the pleasure of watching him compete and several occasions. What a star and what a rider. But, perhaps more importantly what a nice, modest and easy to speak to chap. We saw him riding the Trial Urbain de Cahors and spent some time with him and Martin before the event started. Just nice folks.

    Great interview, Taylor. Thank you.
And thank you for letting your subject talk. So many interviewers seem to like the sound of their own voice too much, or try to rush the subject along. You just let the interview develop. Well done for that!

Did a bit of trialing on a BSA Bantam back in the early 70s and remember his Dad, Martin being about and was a guy we looked to emulate. I was never any good and the Bantam was so unreliable. Didnt have the money when at school to get a proper bike. Then discovered beer and girls and that was the trials career over :) Was always popping in to see Barry Rogers in his shop in the Derby and admiring the Bultaco's etc . Sammy Miller was riding his Hondas back then also.

Remember the six days international trial in the fifties and we had a day off school to go and watch. What excitement. Tried to follow the course with my mate on his BSA Bantam 125 and me on the back. We fell off more than we stayed on.. A grest sport that's somehow fallen out of fashion. Who decides these things I don't know..
