- Exactly 3 weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine, I was at Birmingham Airport where I filmed this rare Boeing 777-200ER of the Russian airline Red Wings taking off. 🛫 Of course, I wasn''t to know this would be the last time filming a Russian registered aircraft in the UK for, well, who knows how long. 💭 My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this terrible war. 🙏 What was the last Russian jet you saw in the UK? Let me know in the comments below! 😀
Red Wings Airlines is a Russian regional leisure airline based at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, providing both scheduled passenger and cargo services. This particular flight was a cargo charter, and was departing to Zhukovsky Airport (ZIA/UUBW) as RWZ8828. The aircraft is a 25 year old Boeing 777-21HER, registration VP-BSJ, originally delivered to Emirates back in 1997. ✈️
This departure includes full ATC (Air Traffic Control) communications. 📻😀

One of 3 Boeing 777-200ER's belonging to the Russian airline Red Wings seen here departing Birmingham Airport exactly 3 weeks to the day before Putin invaded Ukraine. Little did I know this would be the last Russian jet I would film for...well, who knows how long...💭 Of course my thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this terrible war. Thankyou for watching the video, if you enjoyed it please consider liking the video, thanks very much! 👍😀
Fantastic stuff from my local as usual Mr AG. Keep it coming, once again adding crystal clear ATC makes you such a great channel.
Side note: for those not aware, this and all RedWings' 777s used to be with Emirates and were frequent visitors to BHX. Funny how things work out.
Thankyou very much! 😆🙏 Really appreciate the kind words. 👌 Oh I didn't know they ALL used to be with Emirates, nice fact! ☺️

Enjoyed watching this. I didn't even know this airline existed. You learn something every day. Thanks for sharing this! I love aircraft and flying but I sadly will not be flying again thanks to Covid.
Thankyou, glad you liked it. 😀 You certainly do. Ah that's a real shame. ☹️
Managed to catch one of these at BHX too! Great clips 😊✈️

1:42, Red wings is not own by Russia because of the registration, VP-BSJ is own by Bermuda.
