Sammy Halbert Rides A Speedway Bike

- It's May 6th, 2011, a warm sunny day at Inland Motorcycle Speedway in San Bernardino, CA. Two motorcycle racing greats, from different motorcycle racing backgrounds, collide for an amazing display of talents from both.
The teacher, semi-retired Billy Hamill, Speedway World Champion, gets to teach student, Sammy Halbert, AMA National #7, current leader in Grand National points, who, thanks to winning races is pointed towards another championship, how to ride a speedway bike.
As you watch this short video, you will see a guy go from instant Second Division rider to competitive First Division rider in about three hours!
Talented teacher, talented student equals results.
Thanks to Joker Machine, Hagon Shocks, IMS, Shawn McConnell, Jason Bonsignore, Benny, Benny's Turtles, Billy Hamill, Geoff Arnold and Slammin Sammy Halbert. Also thanks to Neil Facchini for not blowing-up the new bike first time out. Very special thanks to MK for really bothering me at the wrong time, but I hope things worked-out. And a special heartfelt thank you to anyone that was there that didn't point and laugh at the Cameraman. He's a hard working man, oh, he is.
Stay very closely tuned because we are creating an epic, cool, motorcycle-nut video that will mark a milestone in the brief but spectacular burst of brilliance that is Trick Video. This upcoming video is sponsored by Joker Machine and Hagon Shocks, co Produced by Geoff Arnold.
If you subscribe to this channel, this stunning, never before imagined extravagnza of shoe-string budget geniusness will be delivered to your pesky Inbox for absolutely no monies, foreign or domestic.
However, if you enter any of my work in a contest and it wins more than $599, send me that and keep the difference and the 1099.
Cheers,
Andy

Never seen anyone adapt to a speedway bike so fast, and so good! Very impressive!
That person thinks that speedway is all about drifting
Billy "The Bullet" Hamill good job , a great rider , a great man , a great coach . Maybe one day I'll see you in Poland
This is Great, Billy.
Keep up the good working on converting those Flattrackers over
to the Fun Side of Racing!
Hope to see you and Geoff this Fall, at the Big White Place.
See Ya

Really good to see the progression through the sessions from tentatively riding round to attacking the bends and getting the back round. Really enjoyed, will watch again.
Very impressive Grasshopper.
I used to live a few miles from the Alf Hagon store in Leyton, England. I also was a regular at nearby Hackney Speedway for a few years. Great times.
I wish we had more places to race in the Midwest. Perhaps I need to move to CA ..
Awesome Job Sammy ! Clearly bulk talent there ! looked classy as !
Wow !. Very impressive. This guy is natural !!!
nice video :)..Billy you are the best..Falubaz Zielona Góra never forget :)
Impressive learning curve. I wonder how the Shawn McConnell poster and decals got posted right where the camera was aiming near the beginning of the video.
yeah i would like to have a go on a speedway bike
See you in the FIM GP in 2020 !
Wow that looks like fun. Have never tried speedway but those bikes sound angry. He did well compared to other beginners I've been watching.
Sean Pearce 500cc no brakes and run on methanol ;) they're awesome ;)
Your should do riverland Speedway
Not bad at all for 4 sessions, good effort.
If you can ride Mile Flat Track on the big twins at 140mph, draft then pass on the straights, you are super talented and fearless. Speedway is probably slower than what he is used to.
Took my riders test right here at IMS after track was rutted out after Wens. night race here. Bruce Penhall and Gene Woods both told me I would wreck caused I had only been out to dry lake a few times. Did wreck 3 times but ref gave me one more shot where I grabbed a lot more throttle and did pass my test. Ha.
Stanley Flanders Man , just being in the company of Bruce Penhall would've made my day lol let alone passing the test as well ! congrats bud :)
natural great stuff

It’s not all about drifting
Never knew they done this in the US, thought it was just europe. That track is really small though :L
👌👏👍
he said that...
yes, no brakes
I rode a speedway bike once, a Weslake Mk4, no thank you...
Id say the track looks too dry, needs some water on that shit,
He’s keeping the throttle shut to much
I'm sure Anthony Webster that you could do so much better! Perhaps you should reach out to Sammy and see if he needs a riding coach.
He no speedway rider as go back to something else.
