I have a 6 and a half inch wrist and I currently own a Mako II Pepsi bezel and my god the watch is gorgeous. Videos and pictures don't do it justice. My father owns a Seiko solar chrono and some MK designer watches and he always compliments how nice my watch is. Planning on getting him a Ray II for his B-day.
Thanks for taking the time out of your day to make a really long and proper review. It is much appreciated for someone who's looking to buy his first proper watch.
Nice double review and comparison. I love my Ray II, and find it works well in most settings. I have the blue version, and the dial is beautiful. I agree with you about the bracelets, but have found that I actually enjoy the Ray's bracelet more and more as I wear it. Lume is superb! I prefer the Ray, but the Mako is a great watch too. Looking forward to seeing more of your vids!
Excellent comparison of these two. I never realised that the bezel and hands differed and there was no lume on the seconds hand of the Mako 2 and the lume was not so good. Weirdly I prefer the look of the Ray off the wrist and the Mako on the wrist. Still can’t make up my mind which to get. In any case I’d get the blue version as love the sunburst effect on those ones.
I appreciate this video. There aren't too many watch youtubers who show wrist shots that also show the body of the wearer. It's also a plus for me the we have similar body types. Keep up the good work dude!
I just ordered the exact ray 2 you have in this video. While I agree with you on the bracelets (liking the mako over the ray) the more I looked at photos of the ray bracelet, the more I saw an "omega seamster" feel to it that I can't unsee. I think that bracelet adds just an extra touch of class over the mako. I have plenty of other 22mm straps, nato, rubber, etc and I think that bracelet will fill a gap that I do not currently have. Now if only my ray will hurry up and get here!
I just discovered Orient watches and ended up buying 4 of them from eBay before I could stop myself. I now have 2 Mako II, a black and a Pepsi, and 2 blue Rays, one of which was already modded to look like a Deep Sea with a sub-style bezel and lumed ceramic insert with a DD sapphire and 2 of them came with Island Watch jubilee bracelets already installed. I paid between $100 and $130 for each of them and I feel like I got a lot of value for not a lot of money. I ordered a couple different bezels and inserts along with some sapphire crystals and I am going to build a few different variations and mix and match parts to make some unique pieces. I have added a blue Auqaracer style mock-o-dile strap with deployant clasp to the ‘Deep Sea’ and it looks like it should cost way more than it does and I get compliments every time I wear it. I have so little in them that I can always put them back on eBay if I ever decide to thin the collection or just give them away to someone in the family that likes watches and feel like I got my money’s worth and then some.
Really well done comparo. Good work. I appreciated the detailed explanation of the differences. I also appreciate that the wrist shots were not on your sleeved up arm. People with tats on their watch-side wrists need to find other things to review.
I really enjoyed this vid. I was undecided between the mako and the ray and your video helped me decide on the ray. Would love to see you review some Vostoks
Great videos man! keep the hard work! I just have a question, and i know you habe seen these two watches, i'm looking forward to buy either the mako 2 or the seiko snzh55 (the black one), which one would be the best for everyday use? Greetings from Uruguay!
Also, as far as the lume comparison goes...I don't wanna accuse you of giving the Ray more time to charge but it sure seems like it. My Mako II gets VERY bright with the slightest exposure to sunlight even on cloudy days.
Nice comparison, I have bought a Mako 2 in blue and I love the color. I have seen in my watch and yours too in your video that the crown, does not fit till the end to the case. Is this normal?
Foro me the winner is the Orient Ray 2, because if you won't to pay more to get the Skx007, you should be buy the Orient Ray 2!! The quality s awesome!!!!
Nakon prezentacije odlučio sam kupiti MAKO II. Izvanredna prezentacija. Molio bih adresu gdje najpovoljnije kupiti ovaj sat. Pozdrav iz Splita-Hrvatska-Croatia
I think the Kamasu is a great watch with great value. Also with a Saphire crystal at that price is great. I own a blue Kamasu and I swapped the factory bracelet for a strap code Jubilee. It looks and feels like a more expensive watch. For me the only down side to the Kamasu was the factory bracelet. It wasn't horrible but swapping it with a strap code Jubilee made a huge difference!
Humble Gent almost when with Mako 2 then Saw Ray 2 Love The Bracelet On The Ray 2 More Then Mako 2 And Then Saw The Lume Shots Im Going For The Blue Version ... Any Advice Is There Any Rattle On The Bracelets How The Quality ?
Does the ray II feels big on your wrist or tacky on your wrist?, been thinking of this watch if i should buy this or no because it might overwhelm or takeover my wrist My wrist size i think is 6 inch to 6 and 1/4 max
i think his wrist is 6.5 6.75 max . this small watch look big on his wrist even he built muscles ,my younger brother has 7.25 inch wrist but wear damm small
I prefer the Ray 2, but the two tone bezel on the Mako 2 just looks so damn good. I think that little bit of red, with blue or black, looks great on any diver. Tough decision. Edit: I'm comparing the blue versions
Todd Barraza hey Todd...I wouldn’t recommend these for actually ocean diving or swimming for that manner. Grab a seiko SKX or if you want strong and reliable clean budget watch the Casio Duro is perfect for diving. These two are NOT iso certified.
He didn’t say he was actually going to dive with these watches. For a “dive watch” I would absolutely recommend these, they are solid watches with great looks!
I hate that the Ray's day complications don't line up properly 4:59 There are many Chinese brands (Phoibos, Loreo) now that give you more value for money out there imho. Seiko and Orient don't even give you Sapphire at this price point.
Purnell Charles those Chinese watches use Japanese movements. Seiko and orient are way better built watches and have better finishing than any of those Chinese watches
@@calypsojordana3274 look at price comparison though, both Orient and Seiko are still very good quality watches which keep great time, at an affordable price.

The Mako with the Pepsi dial👌 and the Ray as is👌 Orient is now my preferred choice over Seiko.
Mako doesn't have Roman numerals, what you see there are Arabic numerals. 👍🏼

I want the Ray II with a MAKO bracelet smh.
Either get a strapcode bracelet or order the mako bracelet separately
Got the same problem.
get the kamasu. it has that bracelet and similar dial
Thanks! I was looking for a video comparing these watches..I'll go with the Ray...in blue.

I gotta say thank you for your channel ! I love it ! I am looking forward on buying one of these timepieces

I will buy one of these watches and I think will be the Ray II.
I love the circular dials.
Both watches are great .. i dont know what to.choose. probably i will choose the Mako because is a little more sportier.

As a fan of prebond Seamasters I really like the look of the Mako, the sword hands and the dial layout look really good
The dolphins on the back of the Ray II really got me. That was when I decided the ray over the mako
Good review man. Answered all my questions. You just earned a sub!
Ray2 + strapcode's metal band is wonderful.
Thank you. Great review. Will be ordering the Ray 2 iminently.
Good vid brah! Helped me make up my mind.
Hey, nice video! Thanks for doing the wrist shots at the end. How big are your wrists? Mine are 8 inch and I'm concerned it might look small.
I will go to Ray II. Fantastic video
splendid video!
Thank you!
Good video, keep em coming sir!
Geez, i wanna do a blend of the two, it is really hard to decide😫
How so
Ray 2 also comes in orange which I own.
Wish it was solid endlink and clasp, and of course sapphire glass. But this is find for me.
Ya it's fine for me to considering these could be bought for $150 and sometimes less.

They really are. Especially for the price!
