    Great video, Den, thank you. The best bit, about this reel for me, is the guard to prevent the line going down and under the spool. Have been looking for one of these for ages.
    Regards,
    Barry from Essex.

      Thanks Barry. If it didn't have the line guard, I definitely wouldn't have bought it mate. I had the Preston Intensity previously and that didn't have one, so I learned my lesson there. I just hope it works well on the bank.

    Diagram. Totally agree that such small print is not senior-friendly. This trend is typical. When are companies going to wake up and realize that the senior marketplace is huge.😢

    Good review, reel looks great value, look forward to on the bank testing. I tested a Nytro rod and was blown away by the quality for the price.

      Thanks Paul. I am hearing some good things about Nytro tackle, so I too, am hoping this reel will be up to the test. I am hoping to get out on the bank with it in the next couple of weeks.

    Great vid Den ! The reel looks identical with Trabucco Castforce Feeder LD 5500 and the recently launched Korum Zelos Distance 7000. If the Nytro has a two part brake knob then it might get loose with time and catch especially thin braid lines. Happened to me on 2 out of 4 reels. Korum reels are of a lower quality and come out of the package gunked up with thick vaseline. Is a good design and they work well even with very heavy feeders.

      Thanks Ovidiu. I don't know if Nytro has anything to do with the manufacturers you mentioned, but I believe they are owned by Sonik. We have have to wait and see how well this one performs. I am hoping to get out on the bank with it very soon.

    I so agree they make the print so small it is near on impossible to read. The wife had an issue with a spray from a major supermarket where she had a very bad reaction from it. So, I made them aware of it only to get a reply stating all the ingredients are on there and more or less our fault! So, I replied in the same size text as the product saying not good enough (which could have gone on a postage stamp) as well as my standard text to prove a point. To get an apology and £30.00 shopping vouchers. Well worth a look at those reels for sure?

    I just picked up an okuma baitrunner from Aliexpress.
    Okuma is actually a really good brand and big in the US.
    I paid $40 for a 4000 size

      @FishingwithDen I have one. I highly recommend them.
      Used it 5 times and can't tell the difference between my shimano baitrunner and the okuma.
      Tackle world here in Australia has them for a bit more than you'll get off aliexpress

      @@PoetofHateSpeech That's encouraging. It sounds like cheaper stuff can still be good stuff.

      @FishingwithDen Kastking isn't bad either, but that's more geard towards lure fishing.
      Okuma has products in the cheap, middle, and super high-end. I can't speak of the longevity of this reel, of course, but I would recommend it so far

      @@FishingwithDenI've had my Okuma Bait runner reels for 15 yrs now, still going just about Lol. I also read that Okuma also known as Svendsen sports used to make some Shimano reels for the UK/European markets which is why you used to return Shimano reels to Svendsen service centres.

    Nice review Den. My only comment would be that a spare spool included would have been nice. I would be happy to pay a little bit more more for a spare spool included. My Mitchell reels came with a spare spool.

    • @FishingwithDen
      @FishingwithDen  3 місяці тому

      I would have liked a spare spool too mate, but I suppose some anglers might not want one and would have thought twice about buying it at an increased price.

    Ive often wondered how you manage fishing in Oz in an
    English coarse style with regard to tackle & bait.
    Internet from uk etc?

    I’m pretty certain Den that most of these reels,as is the case for most fishing tackle are made in the same factories abroad, just like when you buy food and items from Aldi. There are no special Aldi food factories.

      That does seem to be a common thread amongst contributors to my channel Mark.

    Some parts of that reel look remarkably like Okumas, especially the bail arm, spool and handle.

      I am getting a lot of comments like this Andrew. it would be interesting to find out if they are correct, but I suspect the various manufacturers are never going to tell us.

      Okuma make reels for a wide range of brands as well as their own range.

      @FishingwithDen thank you for getting back to me I do appreciate it big time they do look a really quality bit of kit look really nice reel for the money just didn't want to order myself a couple in case they was too big for my 12 ft rod and also for my 11 ft rod 🎣

    • @FishingwithDen
      @FishingwithDen  Місяць тому +1

      @@shaunhutley6098 No worries Shaun. I really like them after using them 2 or 3 times now. I think they are a fraction lighter than the Matrix 5000, but have a look through the video where I weighed them both. I have actually bought a second Nytro 5000 reel to replace another of my Matrix reels now. I use them on my 12ft and 13ft Free Spirit heavy duty rods and they balance nicely. I'm not sure I would want to use the 5000 on an 11ft rod, but if it works for you, that's all that matters. Perhaps you could buy one for your 12ft rod first of all and try it on the 11ft rod to make sure it is right before buying the second one..

    • @shaunhutley6098

      @FishingwithDen the same as me my feeder rods are all free spirits I will never use nothing else the best rods out there on the market by far I love free spirit mate I like using a bigger reel 4000 matrix Horizon reel on my free spirit 10 foot rod I just like a bigger real more cranking power yes I use a 5000 on my 12-ft rod but I know you might think the 5000 might be too big for my 11-ft rod but like I said I do like a bigger reel mate 🎣

      @@shaunhutley6098 At the end of the day, it is all down to what you personally prefer Shaun. I don't own an 11ft Free Spirit, only the 12 and 13ft versions, so I didn't want to give you the wrong advice and cost you money. As I said, If it works for you, then go for it mate. Tight Lines. 😁😁👍👍
