Loved your video! My grandmother was a great cook and she had twelve children which included two sets of twins! And she raised two other children who werent born to her!!
Thank you, your grandmother sounds like she was a lovely and very busy lady. I can imagine the children learned what helping out was all about. What a special lady to have 12 children (of course being a twin, love the twin part) and take in 2 not born to her. Our parents had 7 children and we certainly helped out. Mom always loved if we could make fun out of the work and if a mess was made while including fun then we had to help make up the mess as well. Wishing you God's blessings, Martha
I loved watching you make pie crust and also hearing your memories of your mom and school. May God guard, guide and richly bless your precious family. Mary
Thank you for the encouraging words. Different foods have a way of having memories flooding back. I love the way you bless our family. We appreciate you joining us in the kitchen by way of watching this video and may God bless you in a special way. Martha
You're welcome. So, my Mom was not the only one who wanted to make certain recipes. Sweet Pickles was another thing I told her I need her to show me how to make. No, it is never to late to learn. We appreciate you joining us in the kitchen as we made these pie crust and we wish you God's blessings. Martha
You're welcome and thank you for joining us in the kitchen by way of watching this video. It warmed my heart just knowing I was making the same recipe mom did for many years. We wish you God's blessings, Martha
I agree, I much prefer using gloves while handling certain foods and cleaning. Years ago I had a major problem with my hands and gloves was a must. Maybe that is why I still like using gloves. We appreciate you and wish you God's blessings. Martha
Thank you so much for a great recipe. I’m like you I’m intimidated by making fresh piecrust from scratch, but you gave me the confidence to try on my own. Thank you for a great recipe and a great video.
When I first started with pie crust at least it was just us eating them. My confidence grew and we took pie to our fellowship meals at church. If you make these crusts I hope you enjoy the time in the kitchen as well as the crust. We appreciate you joining us in the kitchen by way of watching this video and wish you God's blessings. Martha
I watched this earlier in the week, and I'm finally making some of your crust this evening. So excited! I assume I can freeze the extra crust disks and roll them out later.
I certainly hope you are enjoying some good pie crusts with some tucked away in the freezer. We always freeze ours rolled out in pie pans, but I see no reason why freezing in a disk would not work. I attended a bluegrass/bar-b-q event this evening and their dessert was pie, lots of pie. So, it was interesting comparing the crust on the piece I had vs our crust, still prefer ours. :) Wishing you God's blessings, Martha
@@hershbergersmiraclehomeste6885 I should get more pie pans and freeze them rolled out. It sounds much more convenient when I'm ready to use them. That sounds like a fun evening! I had unexpected company yesterday, so my baking got put on hold until tomorrow. 🤷♂️
With that much flour and eggs, would make some good chicken and dumplings with the scraps. I use very little flour because flour makes it tough. The eggs make tough too. If that is the crust you are used to, go for it. Looks pretty. Would be perfect for baked pie not cream pies.
We appreciate you joining us in the kitchen by way of watching this video. I love how we can learn from each other and that there is more then one good pie crust recipe. I think this one will remain our favorite although I would be open to trying others. Wishing you God's blessings, Martha
We appreciate you joining us in the kitchen by watching our video. I am so sorry, I am not familiar working with bacon grease. I have not used butter in my pie crust; however, I know there are recipes that use butter. Becky from Acre Homestead uses butter in her recipe, I will leave a link to her Scratch Pantry page where she listed the recipe. www.scratchpantry.com/recipes/flaky-pie-crust Wishing you God's blessings. Martha
If you are making a pork pie or savory pie. I would make sure bacon grease is clean, no leavings. I would put in a strainer. Make sure it is solid. Would be same as using lard.
Doing a half recipe is a great idea if you just need a few crusts. When you make them, I hope you enjoy them as much as we do. We appreciate you joining us in the kitchen by way of watching this video and wish you God's blessings. Martha

Can I use bacon grease instead of Crisco? That’s all I have besides butter.
