- A quick video on bumper removal and tow bar install on a Passat b7 estate as I couldn’t find much my self when looking.

Such a great help...fitted a tow bar to my B7 today.. i know its just a face lift model but it is intresting that a b6 tow bar fits a b7 an no towbar shops seem to want to tell you that. So took a punt at the wreckers

Nice vid! How long did the proces in total? Ps did you not have to plugin the car to a computer at one point?
Probably could do it in a hour and half maybe with my video. And no just brought the wiring kit and ran it as instructions said and it works fine 👍🏻
I'm fitting a crash bar back on and removed tow bar but I haven't got the bolts and not sure what size they are any help would be great

M8 X 30 mm. Would hope that whoever fit the towbar but them back in the holes to prevent water ingress. I usually put it on the fitting instructions when designing the towbar.
I know that modern LED lights are a pain, and I presume that they are all LED in your Passat? But do you know if there's a separate feed for each function? IE;- L Ind. 1 wire. R Ind 1 wire, Nr plate 1 wire, Park LIght 1 wire, Brake Light 1 wire. Fog Light 1 wire. In the MB led wiring, there is only one wire supplying both the brake and park lights...when the brake is pressed, it sends increased "bandwidth" ( I think that's the term ) so the LED glows brighter. Just wondering if the Passat wiring is the same? In some modern makes with LED lighting, Its possible to use a smart relay system that works, and saves all that ripping and tearing to wire up your towbar. The problem with wiring is that after the shell is assembled and painted, the wiring harness is on of tghe first things to be installed in the new vehicle, hence problems down the line. Hi mate cheers for the video. When I have my trailer connect the trailer right indicator doesn't work do you think that's down to the loose wire? Still trying to see where it all connects to wondering if you can help cheers
Hi buddy, yes it could be, Iv got to look at mine to be honest as the left driving light on my trailer when hooked up doesn’t function but everything else works.
That wiring harness looked way too complicated. Most here in the States are shorter and connect in the rear where your rear lights connect. Don't have to run all the way up front.
That’s what I expected to come like a short lead that plugs in the back somewhere not 12 feet of it haha. Was pretty simple once I read the instructions like 5 time lol

Haha yer it must for that price lol. You could buy a universal kit and wire it into the rear lights them self but unsure if you would get the light warning on the dash, I constantly have that warning in anyway for my LED headlight bulbs
Bloody hell, we used to tap into the rear lights 😳..modern cars..I tell ya 🙄

Yes mate nice and straight, to be fair this is a 140 sport and could do with a little more power up top, I had a b6 140 before with the early engine and she pulled much better

Hi a done my a3 it was a nyt mare I run the loom to the fuse box then got auto electrician to connect the loom to the fuse box
Once I read the instructions like 5 times I figured it out and it was pretty simple to do in the end

How did you find tryna connect wires at the fuse box mate im having a head scratch tryna wire up , the instructions aint the best , im competant to do it but still a head scratcher tryna get the wires into where there supposed to be with so little give in the wiring
Once I got my head round it and started following the correct instructions as I was following the ones for a different model lol then it was easy. There is some flat spades on the fuel bores not used that you put the + on to and then you have to un pin o think 2 or 3 wires out of a plug and re position the wires then re assemble
Have you the same car as mine think 2012-15 model 140sport mg one. If I get a dry day over the weekend I’ll pull the panel off and make a second video for you
Yeah mate ive got same car just the 1.6 tdi bluemotion and the instructions ive got make it look very simple to be honest its just a nightmare due to there being no give at all on the cables to be abke to spread them apart and access them easy enough , all panels are off but still no better 😂😂
Did you do a second video for the wiring mate? Could do with some visual guidance for that part lol
Had one fitted on mine now the boot catches on the bumper and there is little clearance looks like the bumper will have to come off again
I did the same mate it doesn’t have to come off you just need to pull the rubber off across where the bumper meets the car and get your fingers in and pull the bumper towards you and push down. The bumper should drop down into its proper place then
