I was waiting for something that never came... We're not tired of being who we are. We are tired of being hated without cause. Don't allow the hate of others cause you to hate yourself. Be strong and stay up 💪🏿
So fucking raw, real & powerful. These are words my black son has spoken to me his white mom. I have held him sobbing as he’s sobbed saying I want to be white like you. He’s tried to scrub the brown off. Prayed it off. I have stood in his way & fought him on this every step of the way. I have held his face in front of the mirror and said over & over, you are a beautiful strong proud black man with no shame. You be proud of every inch of this brown skin. You be proud of who you are. I’m proud of your beautiful brown skin & the human being you are but that’s not enough. You have to be whether others do or not. People will hate you & do things to you because of the color of your skin. People will treat you like you are less then but you are equal. It’s wrong. It’s unfair. It’s fucking ridiculously stupid. But you will not let it stop you from rising & being the proud black man that are in the face of this ugly ignorance and hate. Your message needs to be heard by every white person, with tape over our mouths so we can’t speak a word. Just listen. Thank you!
Wow this literally made me tear up... I am so truly sorry you all have to deal with all this hate.. hearing and seeing things like this honestly makes me feel ashamed of being white even though I know me myself isn't one to hate because of skin color..
I’m sorry. I don’t know my family’s history but we have always been poor Irish. Nonetheless.. I am sorry for it all. Please don’t judge all white people based on bad experiences. I’m just happy to be alive ❤

Are we ready to talk about the ways in which we perpetuate self-hate/anti blackness? It'll be raw but less eloquent as this poem, to be sure.
I’m sorry.

Great poem but presented too fast at some point... Heard the gasp too loud
