I live on the outskirts of London, and every time I go there I come back feeling dirty and covered in a thin layer of grime. You've done spectacularly well to present the city in such a romantic way
Ha! That applies to every major city around the world. They all have nice/historic areas that get overused as filming locations (think Latin Quarter in Paris, City of Westminster in London, Manhattan in NY) but everywhere else in the city is very different to what you see in popular culture.
What a joy, since watching this I have tried to become a gentlemen by following your recommendations. I always find myself coming back to this one to remind me why I started. I hope we get another video like this one soon!
Yes, if you're looking for the classic "British Gent" experience these days, you're not going to find it in Greater London I'm afraid. If you want that you are much better off visiting Winchester, Bath, Chichester etc
Is it just me or does this guy look like a kid who is wearing his dads suit when he's walking down the street. He just looks so funny to me, and he walks so weird.
You could argue it was possible the greatest city on earth not long ago, it's tragic how far such a great city has fallen in such a short period of time
My uncle recently retired as a colonel from the Air Force, he is a well educated, cultured and traveled man, fluent in English, Spanish, German and Japanese. He moved back home after all was said and done to conduct himself, as he so eloquently puts it, as a gentleman. He’s in his mid 60s, but has the wisdom of a man three times his age it seems, can tell you about ancient history and help you rebuild your Harley, and can swear like the best of them. He makes his daily rounds around town to the local landmarks (barbershop, followed by the proper coffeehouse, the alternating daily stops at relatives and friends homes and businesses.). The man has pull around this area like I’ve never witnessed, and it’s something else. I visited recently and I walked into his home, and he was sitting out on his back porch and was smoking a cigar in his underwear. He looks at me, mind you, I haven’t seen him in a year, and goes, “thank god I don’t have neighbors huh.”
Hey Kirby, I just found your channel and absolutely love watching it. I’m glad to know there are still some quality products out there. I’ve just recently become interested in this to the point of actually looking for. And I’m glad your videos popped up. Thanks again

absolutely wonderful video Kirby as always. Content is consistently on point. the height of luxury. I grew up in London, moving here to the US several years ago. You just seem completely at home in London, it's a pleasure to watch.
What a Gentleman you are Mr Allison. My grandfather would have been proud of you and certainly would have enjoyed taking a stroll outdoors with you immersed in a great conversation
I think that the charme of this video is to watch somebody taking care of himself. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor. The elegance and the dignity of little gestures made slowly with high quality means you want to pay attention and focus on doing things well. And for me that is what it counts.
Growing up, I was raised in an environment that somewhat looked down on shaves like this, cigars, anything that was luxurious and indulgent. Now as an adult that works in corporate America and has a fair bit of responsibility, I see that these things are all essentially self care. Nothing like getting a nice shave, throwing on an outfit and enjoying a nice meal and a fine cigar.
I didn't know "Proper" was so broadly used , I must be improper. I would like to see Kirby's definition for proper and who determines what's proper......
The mark of a gentlemen is his aility to seamlessly fit in to any social situation while maintaining an air of confidence and style the way one dresses is once again a mark of that confidence an american in london!!
@Alan Bellew I don't know if I'd go that far, but I'm kinda still figuring him out. Is this just an austentatious channel? Spending crazy amounts on bespoke shoes and suits the likes of most can't afford? Or does he genuinely love London and the traditions found here? I think he does genuinely love tradition and London but in a way one of our Royal members would. Automatically it makes you wonder though. I guess if you have the money, and the free choice, then why not have access to such refined products. I'm working class and almost certain I wouldn't like a taffy nosed pillock quofting about yet I'm intrigued to watch the videos he puts out. Well, most of them. I live the Sahakians! Especially Eddie. Cool, slick, knowledgeable and his voice is very pleasant in the ear. I couldn't afford to blow hundreds of pounds on a cigar tho! Even if I won the lottery there'd be parts of life that wouldn't appeal to me. So I'm not sure whether I watch this stuff to see how the other half live, or the old fashioned content and tradition that Kirby likes.

@@jeffwolinski2659 I’m in Los Angeles. It’s 80 degrees and sunny 9 days out of 10. If someone came up to me and said “Ah, proper day in LA”. I wouldn’t know what to say.
I live in a rainy area and you'd get the same response here, maybe a slight eye roll. Despite the fact that we have 3 months of drought in the summer people still think it rains constantly here.
They don't response that's why it's proper British morning
Great video Kirby
It’s funny, because I really started watching your channel in earnest during the initial wave of the pandemic, as a way to calm down after long hours working at the hospital. And now, it is nice to see you out and about emerging in these videos. I don’t fool myself into thinking we’re back in to normalcy, but I can’t help but notice how much your channel and presence has grown in the last two years. Your Content is better, and you are making videos which look better, and you seem more at ease in these videos. They’re natural
But I want to say, as a long overdue thanks, your live streaming shows during the initial pandemic were a tremendous comfort. Almost like FDR addressing the nation during World War II
Cheers
Pandemic lol. People git pneumonia from influenza. China has millions of deaths annually. You got sucked into fear. Sars COv 2 has never been isolated in a laboratory. Taking monkey kidney cells adding external substances not found in nature to get cytopathic effects is not isolation. It's sophistry and illusion. Influenza did not go on holiday in 2020
Lachlan Brown sorry dude, nice try.
But working in healthcare the last three years, I’ve been baited by the best. That doesn’t even register
This was meant to be an opportunity to complement Kirby and what a wonderful job he has done for the last several years. Not yours.
I live on the outskirts of London, and every time I go there I come back feeling dirty and covered in a thin layer of grime. You've done spectacularly well to present the city in such a romantic way
Its quite the american perspective on London/Europe isnt it?
Ha! That applies to every major city around the world. They all have nice/historic areas that get overused as filming locations (think Latin Quarter in Paris, City of Westminster in London, Manhattan in NY) but everywhere else in the city is very different to what you see in popular culture.
Kirby very modestly sidestepped the compliment regarding his support of the various businesses, that's a big point scorer
This guy's the definition of fake it till you make it, and its wonderful.
I dunno. I feel like he does actually have money
Uh, yeah, no. He ain’t faking. Kirby be making
@@harryaxford530 the Interwebs place his UA-cam income at $10-30 thousand per month, not including his hanger business.
Speak for yourself. Self reflector
What a joy, since watching this I have tried to become a gentlemen by following your recommendations. I always find myself coming back to this one to remind me why I started. I hope we get another video like this one soon!
The barber is a true legend. So professional and talented.
The Abercrombie & Fitch comment was a cheap shot but the English guy handled it brilliantly
Spot on
Very cheap shot. Kind of annoying too.
Competition
@@Dbulkss whats wrong with it?
@@derekporter66 competition is good
Hugely enjoying the content Kirby whilst on standby in my ambulance. Keep it coming.
Man I love how everyone is dressed well wearing suits, I wish America could get back to this proper style of dressing.
I agree. More civilized
Don't be fooled. People dress terribly in London as well.
Bruh 😂
I agree. It would be nice to see suits, hats and canes and the such come back into fashion. I love old fashioned styles.
Yes, if you're looking for the classic "British Gent" experience these days, you're not going to find it in Greater London I'm afraid. If you want that you are much better off visiting Winchester, Bath, Chichester etc
I can safely say without a doubt no man has ever asked me "how did you plan your packing" this is a funny show to be fair
Kirby & Tom scheming to get the Kings fragrance was hilarious. 😂😂😂
What a great informative trip round London. I’d love a day out like that.
Thank you for giving me a taste of luxury! Loved this, now London is on my bucket list
Is it just me or does this guy look like a kid who is wearing his dads suit when he's walking down the street. He just looks so funny to me, and he walks so weird.
Kirby is like a wheaboo? But for London lol A brit-a-boo maybe? At least he’s happy
Absolutely wonderful day of casually going around the shops and catch up dear friends thankyou sir for the stream
London is just exploding with history and character and significance. It's such a tragedy that so much of it has been sold off or de-nativised
London has been ruined over the past 5-10 years and is now a lawless shit hole.
You could argue it was possible the greatest city on earth not long ago, it's tragic how far such a great city has fallen in such a short period of time
@@zyyl1949agreed. I would say Tokyo is the best city in the world now. I remember when New York was fantastic
Lovely seeing sophistication, elegance and beauty.
London is an amazing city.
Impeccable as always, especially love the hat.
Another fantastic video, and a great tour of London’s finest. I hope you have a great trip!
Great to have you back in London Kirby!
It was great to be back!
What a strange piece of content yet very intriguing and calming - a true innovation.
Hey Kirby,
I just found your channel and absolutely love watching it. I’m glad to know there are still some quality products out there. I’ve just recently become interested in this to the point of actually looking for. And I’m glad your videos popped up. Thanks again
Kirby! Hold your umbrella off the ground and pointed forward. Don't swing it like a spiv!
This gentleman is simply elegance and class.
Great videos Kirby. I worked in the City for 25 years, always wearing the standard attire. I must admit to having descended into slobbishness of late, but your videos inspire to get dressed up again. You are a link to a World almost lost to us now. More please!
absolutely wonderful video Kirby as always.
It felt like a classy cinematic documentation of a city and a man. What genre is this even! Glad found this channel.
I’ve almost killed a case of Bud Light taking a drink every time he says “proper”. When he says “in London” I slap my wife.
I'm offended, that's horrific.. so inappropriate! You should be ashamed. Bud Light? Really? yuck :)
"Bud light" - you must be a Yank.
Isn't that an Irish stereotype?
@@marks9351 uh oh, somebody said “proper”!
This have me a proper laugh, well done, chap!
"Abercrombie and Fitch on the corner is closed.....which is probably a nice thing". ROFL.
I think that the charme of this video is to watch somebody taking care of himself. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor. The elegance and the dignity of little gestures made slowly with high quality means you want to pay attention and focus on doing things well. And for me that is what it counts.
favorite word is proper " HA HA HA HA" (Snob laugh)
What a great day thank you for sharing it with us. An hour well spent ,very informative .
Selecting Kirby's shoes in the shoebox looked like the selection of Harry Potter's wand. Great video, I learned a lot.
"good friend"...that's how you greet a "good friend" you haven't seen in a long time - a firm handshake. Right!
Elegance, class ,style ,and pure excellency absolutely a fantastic episode.
Drinking game: Take a shot every time Kirby says “brilliant” or “proper.”
I Tried this…..was proper smashed in the first 20 minutes. 🥃
You wouldn't have made it through this one hour plus video. You'd be brilliantly horizontal.
That sounds like a Proper drinking game... Brilliant effort.
I didn't know "Proper" was so broadly used , I must be improper. I would like to see Kirby's definition for proper and who determines what's proper......
Bespoke = 2 shots.
The mark of a gentlemen is his aility to seamlessly fit in to any social situation while maintaining an air of confidence and style the way one dresses is once again a mark of that confidence an american in london!!
Civility, manners and respect...all lost to the modern world. Well done Kirby!
I enjoied too much this gentleman, I learned a lot of London culture even though I am from Mexico, Cheers to all.
The dynamic of human interaction is just fascinating
What a pleasure to hear an American using the word “trouser(s)” in place of “pants”. Awfully refreshing and a mark of a true gent
This episode has nearly more pomp than Trooping of the Colour. I'm pretty much convinced Kirby wishes he was British lol
It's so cringe. A 'Its so good to be back in London' counter is needed.
@@chris-cole Very interesting take and you raise some good points!
Kirby is pure cringe! I second that comment
@@Bellew2k7 If you want cringe then check out the guys who do the gentleman's gazette , now there proper creepy ! .
Even a proper British Gentlemen has fallen victim to walking around with a Starbucks paper cup in his hand
That's because they took the coffee to go, back in the day they would have drank it there, to-go wasn't an option.
Diaper as old mate. Watching from kiwi land raised as a thrifty, diligent, grafting farmer.
I appreciate witnessing your approach to life and your willingness to share it.
This is one of the most satisfying videos I have seen in a LONG time
Thank you for making me feel classy. I am really getting inspired to be more gentleman like in my life. The wife is giving me free reign of a room in our basement that I am going to turn into a gentleman’s club/speakeasy. The essence did you inspire is amazing thank you.
Welcome to the club sir. Enjoy your stay.
Tom is his usual charming self, when Kirby talks about his stroller, but nobody wears strollers in London anymore, except barristers when at a formal court hearing (many wear dark suits instead for those) and senior Freemasons attending ceremonies at their temples.
Worn without the pinstripe trousers, it isn’t that uncommon.
1:35 - barber's asking 'Comfortable?' reminds me of Haircut Harry's 'Are you Comfortable Sir' video from his visit in the same barbershop but in India.
Noticed the same thing lol
Seems like a genuinely warm and pleasant chap to have a conversation with. He sets a right example and I'd like to see more of this.
My man livin his best life. Everyone should pamper themselves like this every now and again. Remind yourself of better days
Kirby, another excellent video from you. How I have missed the good things in life lost to COVID. We have to catch up on lost time and all the civility missing from being cooped up at home.
I do not own any bespoke apparel, nor do I smoke cigars. But I still really enjoy Kirby’s videos, including this most recent vintage. Great job, Kirby, and keep up the good work.
Glad you like them Wes! Thank you
@@kirbyallison Thank you for the prompt and kind response, Kirby. I greatly anticipate your next video.
I started smoking cigars this month thanks to your video with Eddie Sahakian how to lit a cigar. My first was an Arturo Fuente Hemingway short story, it was lovely. Just got a humidor and am starting to fill it up. Thank you for your content 🙏
Your Doctor will be chuffed to bits.
Welcome to the fold!
In USA, grew up in a small Southern town and was taught to check/wipe down shoes before leaving the house and before putting away after wearing. Looking tidy always makes a good impression regardless of cost of attire.
Superb location, camera, sound & editing work.
You and Eddie are the channel I didn’t know I needed. If I had the money I’d live life like this. I love putting my suit on for the soul events too👍🏻
You don't need to be a millionaire to take care of yourself...
The filming is top notch amazing cinematography music and so on you Brit have that touch of Class 👏
Yes indeed, Class and Charm.
