    Dang, I have chills after watching this! My auntie nerves were going off like crazy for the little boy, but his smile afterwards is pure sunshine. He’d make a great firefighter someday. 🥹💖🙌

    I think most of the solutions we saw on the show are contrived when the writers were fishing or watching kids play games like "The floor is lava"!😁

      I live sadly in a town in the UK where something similar happened, no electric but the wind took the bouncy castle and sent is spiralling down a hill like a plastic bag, the child sadly passed away. It was and still is truly horrific to think about this sort of thing happening

      With as much electricity as runs through a power line, you dont wanna push your luck. Besides, the rest of their clothes aren't insulated, neither is the boy. The other guy whose feet were tingling was lucky he noticed it and didnt panic, just stood still.

    Anyone else confused by the wooden bridge but it has metal screws in it, I assume that’s because the metal doesn’t have contact with anything except for the old which isn’t conductive? Not 100% tho just a bit confused if anyone can help lol

    • @Angietta
      @Angietta Рік тому +4

      If I'm not mistaken, the metal would only be dangerous if it was touching the ground. Since wood is a much worse conductor than metal (and the electricity it DOES conduct is not enough to be dangerous) the ladder is safe even with the screws.

    • @craigpater6278
      @craigpater6278 5 місяців тому

      @@Angietta in some cases where a really high voltage of electricity is involved the metal ladders on top of the wooden bridge wouldn't have to come into direct physical contact with the ground to be dangerous, a particularly high voltage of electricity may be capable of causing a high voltage electric arc that jumps the gap between the conductive metal and the electrically energized surface

    How can the ground be electrified when its the natural ground and not a metal floor? Was the ground wet?

    • @N00bOps
      @N00bOps 4 місяці тому +1

      Main power lines are powerful enough that the ground around them will still host a dangerous current around the point of contact. Electricity will try to find the path of least ionization (Path of least resistance), and unfortunately, a person's legs and waist is more conductive than most materials the ground is made out of. As long as you keep your feet close together, electricity won't try to go through you, as there's a longer distance it has to travel through your legs than over the ground, meaning it has an easier time going along the ground... Until you spread your legs too far. That's when you get zapped. If you get caught in a situation like this, the best thing to do is to stand absolutely still and touch nothing if you know rescue is coming, but failing that, try to move with as little distance between your two feet (or other limbs) as possible. Shuffling or taking too legged hops is the best tactic.

    I just wonder, why don't they just turn down the main power in the area. I remember a few years back trees collapsed due to a storm and took down the cables in the street. So the village shut down the electicity at the area.

    • @Correon28
      @Correon28 Рік тому +1

      There is two reasons for that. One would be that turning off the power wouldnt immediately solve the problem, since power lines, especially in larger residental grids (which I asume this would be) xan still contain power and act as some kind of capacitors. Thats why "grounding" power lines with special tools is important, but needs to be done in a safe manner which also takes time. 15 mins for both shutting down power and grounding sounds appropiate.
      But the main reason is that the show needs suspense and a "real" danger to both victims and rescuers, so there is always some made up reason to why they simply cant go the safe and easy route.
      Station 19 for example is absolutely ridiculous to the point where even non-respoders shake their head and go like "Dafuq is this show?". Chicago Fire obviously had better consultants and avisors, but they still have their "WTF" moments for the sake of suspense.

      they were trying to but it would have taken too long. at 0:54 you can hear the dispatcher say it would take 15mins for the power company to arrive and disconnect the power, but by that time the kid would be dead from the fire.
