Actually I think the last time a host was also a nominee was Paul Hogan back in the '80s. He was co-hosting and at the same time he's also up for Screenplay for "Crocodile Dundee".
@nickpeaches agreed - not to say that 'speech' and 'network' were EASY movies to direct, but 'inception' looks like a tremendously hard movie to direct.
Christie looks suddenly amazing. She does seem to want to give all the Oscars as lifetime achievement awards though. Movie of the year is probably TSN of the ones I've seen. Need to see TKS and True Grit and 127 H to really decide.
I think Nolan wasn't nominated because Inception was seen as a huge technical marvel, but it was less impressive in a storytelling way. I don't know if I agree with that reason, but I think that was the reason.
@cinemaker006 I agree with everything you said but how do you nominate The Town for Best Picture and not nominate Jeremy Renner for Supporting Actor he's probably the best thing in the whole movie.
Christie, when whathteflick started, you were a little stiff, but now you are fun. Don't know what your new show is, but I'm sure you won't be stiff for long.
i can't believe someone said Winters Bone was boring it was a true description of how clannish those mountain people really are i thought it was very entertaining
Christopher Nolan should win best director in my opinion I mean the social network and the kings speech were great movies, but nothing touches the wow factor of inception
@pauliewalnuts100 I agree he was the best thing about it, but Garfield's performance drove The Social Network. It was an overall better performance than Renner's.
Inception's Christopher Nolan not getting nominated makes me not want to watch the Oscars this year. P.S. Ever consider making tshirts with "whattheFLICK" written on them?
@malows1234 You said you were around when ET came out, so I'm assuming your older than me. Well you don't act like it. I HATE arguing via UA-cam, especially with close-minded people. So we're done. You didn't win, I'm just done arguing.
Inception was great but no where near as mature a film as King's Speech or The Social Network. 127 Hours, Black Swan were both fantastic as well, The Fighter wasn't.
@malows1234 First of all, there's a difference between a masterpiece and a classic. A masterpiece, you know when you see it; a classic is formed over time. In twenty years, Inception will be a classic with ET. And what is your obsession with 2001 Space Oddessy? It's a groundbreaking movie as far as visual effects go, but that's about it. Just because it's your favorite movie, that doesn't make it a masterpiece. And how can you go and make a rash judgment and say you know more cinema than me?
@malows1234 Your entitled to your own opinion. But it's not worth much considering you're one of a very limited number of people who doesn't think Inception is a masterpiece. You clearly don't know much film, and therefore shouldn't pretend to talk like you know what you're talking about. The Academy is biased. That's a known fact. The fact that you say they're not biased shows how little you know.
Interesting noms this year but the Nolan snub seems such a travesty, politics all over again, bloody softouches. Yay for Geoffrey Rush and Jacki Weaver, aussie pride. Natalie Portman may have some oscar glory this year and lil Hailee Steinfeld is very good and yes Christian Bale may get the gong this year and of course the Coens can do no worng. Social Network will win some awards no doubt director probably and the ending was epic, oh Christie though that probably the most action Ben has got.
Tom Hardy WAS soooooo sexy. Can't their be an Oscar for most sexy? I'd put him against Joseph Gordon Levitt and against the hot twins from Social Network. Colin Firth has been my fantasy for years soooooo.... That would be a tossup.
Why not Kick Ass for best movie? In fact is not nominated at anything. I'm not saying it should win, to me that's for Toy Story3 (please not The Social Network) but it totaly deserved the nomination. The Oscars are disapointing me year after year, now it's even at the nominations. Last year winning such a normal movie and now forgeting so good movies and actors. As i said, i don't like The Social Network, to me it's another normal movie but Andrew Garfield had to be nominated for best suppor/role
I didn´t see "The King´s Speach" but i guess his speach was about HOW INCEPTION SHOULD HAVE WON ALL THE SHIT !!! The King should be like " yeah...well...this movie is shit, i´m talking about stuff...and shit ...yeah...blablablabla inception rulles blablablabla ...fuck you all. thank you !! " *cheers and applauds*
They cannot nominate a film for an award when the nomination occurs prior to the premiere of the film. Christy, Ben, I thought you guys worked in the business? True Grit was not nominated for a single Golden Globe because it hadn't been out yet. And in other news, the year's biggest and most overrated film: Inception. Glad Nolan didn't get nominated, should have never been nominated for any award. Gullible viewers fell for it, cinephiles and writers cringed everywhere.
Christy Lemire's laugh at the end is so brilliant.
Just loved Ben's face when Christy said "go down on me" hahaha!
Great WhatTheFlick! You guys rock!
True Grit is a remake,
how is that original? and how is that best picture?
Actually I think the last time a host was also a nominee was Paul Hogan back in the '80s. He was co-hosting and at the same time he's also up for Screenplay for "Crocodile Dundee".
@nickpeaches agreed - not to say that 'speech' and 'network' were EASY movies to direct, but 'inception' looks like a tremendously hard movie to direct.
The Dark Knight is the reason the best picture award now has 10 nominees.
Christie looks suddenly amazing. She does seem to want to give all the Oscars as lifetime achievement awards though. Movie of the year is probably TSN of the ones I've seen. Need to see TKS and True Grit and 127 H to really decide.
the ending was amazing
The ending was hilarious
I think Nolan wasn't nominated because Inception was seen as a huge technical marvel, but it was less impressive in a storytelling way. I don't know if I agree with that reason, but I think that was the reason.
Damn this was a good year for movies!
@cinemaker006 I agree with everything you said but how do you nominate The Town for Best Picture and not nominate Jeremy Renner for Supporting Actor he's probably the best thing in the whole movie.
Christie, when whathteflick started, you were a little stiff, but now you are fun.

i can't believe someone said Winters Bone was boring it was a true description of how clannish those mountain people really are i thought it was very entertaining
What were you gunna say about JGL Ben?
"....Com'on.....Come On.."
AMAZINGLY EPIC ENDING!!!
A really intertaining video!
How could Christy drop weight that fast?! Ratings will go up on "At the Movies" for sure!
no he should have one an oscar for best original screenplay for sure but the beuity of inception is the cinemtagraphy which it won an oscar for anyway
@Solareffects Actually, "Avatar" lost to "The Hurt Locker" for Best Picture.
Christopher Nolan should win best director in my opinion I mean the social network and the kings speech were great movies, but nothing touches the wow factor of inception
I love this show sooooo much
i still cant believe I AM LOVE got snubbed from the foreign award.
The best WTF clip ever.
Armie Hammer was only one of the Winklevoss twins. Another actor played the other one, but they decided later to put Hammer's face over his.
The films that were TRULY better, and very well made were: The Social Network, The King's Speech, 127 hours, and Black Swan, I think anyway
Nolan not being nominated is absurd. He should win, let alone get nominated.
christy looks goooooood
It should be either Inception or Black Swan
Christy from this angle looks just like the Canadian actress from How I Met Your Mother....
Random fact: Because metal was scarce, the Oscars given out during World War II were made of wood.
Jesse Eisenberg is totally one note, I don't even think he should have been nominated. Nothing demanding about that role.
@frozencanuckreviews so true. I watched that ONLY because she won and was underwhelmed the entire movie.
@cinemaker006 Waiting for Superman, speaking of biased. Other than that, I agree with you.
christy wins the internetz for that ending...
greatest ending ever........
@pauliewalnuts100 I agree he was the best thing about it, but Garfield's performance drove The Social Network. It was an overall better performance than Renner's.
great ending.
@jamesdurnford still my fav natalie portman movie
@Alexwozere Losing that "Baby weight"
YAY!
innnnccceeepppptttiiiooonnnnnn
"tom hardy was so sexy"
lol so true
Inception's Christopher Nolan not getting nominated makes me not want to watch the Oscars this year.
P.S. Ever consider making tshirts with "whattheFLICK" written on them?
How did Fincher did not win
@nickpeaches Nothing touches the "WTF" factor of both Black Swan and 127 Hours...
there's endings, and then there's endings, AND THEN THERE ARE ENDINGS. That was the latter.
@noname6317 it came out last year.
YAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Best ending
Best picture it was amazing
When will Christopher Nolan be nominated for best director?
I think for Dunkirk
This year for Dunkirk
not even one oscar nomination to shutter island that is surprise and you didint even mention this.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha HA HA HA HA hA ......
I did "UP" on you and you have to go "DOWN" on me --
I did NOT just say that !
Christopher nolan NOT nominated. WTF???
i'll go down you Christie
Calling Jay Cutler a woman is an insult to women.
Last year when Sandra Bullock won for Blind Side I gave up on the Oscars.
They have no credibility now.
Did not like inception. I'm happy it wasn't nominated.
@malows1234 You said you were around when ET came out, so I'm assuming your older than me. Well you don't act like it. I HATE arguing via UA-cam, especially with close-minded people. So we're done. You didn't win, I'm just done arguing.

Nicole Kidman will win! =D

@BUCEnGAR i cant stand ben.... he did alright here, this time.
@cinemaker006 Chris Nolan for best director????????? looooooooool
Christy is looking real good. Lost weight or something.
Christy is funny and hot.
@malows1234 Your entitled to your own opinion. But it's not worth much considering you're one of a very limited number of people who doesn't think Inception is a masterpiece. hahahah no fincher!
I’m still mad
Toy Story doesn't deserve to be in
she looks sooo skinny! i didn't know she was pregnant!
Why not Kick Ass for best movie? In fact is not nominated at anything. I'm not saying it should win, to me that's for Toy Story3 (please not The Social Network) but it totaly deserved the nomination. lol theres a down one now isnt there???
Dude... Christy.. good job on losing the weight!!
Inception was not original..
the storyline totally copied The Matrix.
If Portman doesn't win best actress the oscars are a load of shit
I think that the kings speach will win best picti
Hoa can ANYONE think that Jesse Isenberg is a good actor, he can only do ONE FACE! lol...
damn christy looks so freaking skinny...when did she lose all this weight...
"The kids are okay "
should not have been there but because of course its a very "lib" movie they put it in there.
winter's bone good?!?! what?!??! this movie was horrible!! it was slow, boring and no exciting plot or anything, do not watch it!
