Yeah, but one does it more consistently than the other, one will also last longer than the other.. They all work, but some will work like crap while others will make your engine run better
Looks like both are similar. Iridium's probably dont wear out faster than platinums. Thats why usually the recommendation interval to change them are higher mileage
I don't know what factory Kia spark plugs the Niro hybrid uses but they lasted me 200,000 miles and I switch them out just because w Bosch double iridium spark plugs
@@lightspeeddan8263you drove it for 200k miles without changing the plugs?? I don't doubt it's possible but are you sure the motor is still in good tune? They may not wear out to zero operation, but they do wear down. Why go for so long like that?
@@ceasursmoke1391 difference is in the tip where the spark is produced iridium has an extremely high melting point theoretically giving it a longer spark life. Maybe educate people instead of just talking and looking down on them.
Less erosion sooner then, so it wouldn't change the voltage delivery in comparison until the platinum erodes sooner, then there will be a difference. Some vehicles are prescribed for iridium because they work harder and would otherwise go through plugs sooner with other materials. For those that call for platinum, you may get a few more miles with iridium but if they cost twice as much and don't go twice as long as platinum, it's a waste of money. Helps to see what the vehicle calls for specifically.
They should have done this test under compression! A bad plug will fire under these conditions, pit it under cylinder compression, and its a different result for sure. However, both are good plugs. iridium has the material that will last longer.
Motor trend just did a dyno with different plug testing.. performance wise they were all bout the sane. Opening the gap to 0.65 is the only thing that made noticeable performance gains.. oh on engine masters
I understand for other people (car people/mechanics) it would be obvious which is which. And maybe they matched it up to the video title and the "Iridium" is L and "Platinum" is R. But at the end of the day......... I still don't know which is which and I"m confused.
Please make sure you replace your spark plus with OEM parts if your vehicle is stock. It is engineer for specific plugs. If you're modified you should use spark plugs as recommended by your tunner especially when you change your turbo, air intake etc
Hate to break this to you, but "iridium" spark plugs ARE platinum sparkplugs, just with a miniscule amount of iridium added to the platinum. Sorry, but the difference between the two , in real world application, is nominal. I recommend using platinum/ iridium ALLOY plugs, with ACTIVE distributor cables. Then you'll see a discernable improvement in performance, as that super fast spark you get with platinum/ iridium plugs, will also be MUCH LARGER, combusting more fuel at the moment of spark, instantaneously.
Oh this will be fun! Sorry, but that is a completely false statement... at least for any of the reputable brands, and very much so if they're OE plugs. If you're still using a distributor and you think active cables (essentially nothing more than capacitive loads) give you a substantial improvement, you really need to read some physics. A well designed coil-on-plug solution will give you a much better spark energy and then you only need to deal with the crappy energy transfer and large parasitic losses from the spark itself.

I used a very sophisticated optical sensor called my eyes and came to conclusion they both have spark 😂
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I agree 😅

50 watts each spark.
5 million watts if We use Pulstar Pulse Plugs....
If you listen carefully you can hear star wars music

I was about to comment that lmao

Neuron bleed over discharge.. just replace the plugs 👍
Iridium is harder material than platinum. Less erosion. That’s it. Doesn’t change the sparking voltage or the energy in the spark kernel.
It's better describing it like how you did then just showing this video.
One spark had a deeper color than the other.😏
Yah but whats worth more?
Which one

iridium at the right and platinum at the left,
iridium have those sharply pointed electrodes

No load, 20,000 RPM. Useless test. Means Nothing
Not only that but they are both gap different from each other you can clearly see this
Sounds like he was about to play Star wars on the Spark plugs lol
Whatever happened to them Split Fire plugs that was the rage back in the day?
They were replaced by the E3 plugs at the bottom of the the trash can.
Now kids what did we learn from this?
The spark on the left has higher quality, a more solid consistent arc compared to the right.
The best one was the unobtainium.
Ahahaah😂
but they have to go to Pandora to get it. A little far and very expensive. Not to mention the MOQ's.

Both have spark, the one on the right has a larger gap to appear it's a stronger spark due to the spark looking "longer"

Cool demo 😎 👌
Appreciate the comment 🙏
Hey Mr. Earl which one is which?
i love this sound😂❤❤
Sounds like a skrillex song lol
Will the soften ice cream?
one on the right is plattnuim. you can tell by the purple spark. not sure witch one has more intensity
Not the some gap one has like 32 and the odder has like 40 to 42 gap

My ears hurt so bad now lol
Clearly the one on the right is superior
cool tool. does it also test mower and edger spark plugs that only have a spark generating magneto? thx.
It should test all sorts of spark plugs, I haven't tried it yet
The Iridium sparks better, according to the fire light level which I'm seeing as I watched. ❤

I'm always amazed how fast an internal combustion engine operates
I'm not sold on Iridium now...throw a match at gas and what happens...spark regardless and one such as either plug is gonna make damage so!
