Thank you Eric. Brilliant and easy to understand. Earlier in the year I was looking at a kross 61 as a lightweight top tier keyboard to replace an Alesis QS6.1. So It had to be able to do overlapping splits and layers in a way the QS was famous for. Alas every review and even the online factory manual I looked at only made out It could do splits and layers but not showing ability for these to overlap. There was that emphasis on easy splits from the panel but nothing about true combi operation. It was frustrating as I thought korg is famous for combis in that way. It put me off for a while but in the meantime I quit that band so the need for a lightweight board was negated. Also we are in perpetual covid lockdown where I live in Australia so no point joining another band as yet so no need a new keyboard. But my thoughts are I'd still like to chase a used one of these as it's heaps lighter to carry than the QS6.1 I have. You certainly have enthused me again Cheers from down under.
Thanks for the nice comment. It's a pretty flexible instrument and I appreciate that it is lightweight. I even shlep it around town on my back sometimes, going to rehearsals and whatnot. I've never played an Alesis QS board but I've heard of them. Cheers!
This series has been so helpful! Is there a way to take off a sound? I decided that the one of the layers is best left off but I can’t figure out how to without starting from scratch.
Yes, in the Combi mode main screen, hit page + to go over to the second screen, scroll to the right to select the timbre or "program" and then just go up to set the "Status" to off. Hope that helps.
Hi Eric! I love your tutorials, I was wondering if you could do a Show Must Go On by Queen preset, as most of the Original M1 Sounds are included in the Kross 2, thanks in advance!
Thanks so much for the positive feedback. My YT projects are on hold at the moment since my career obligations have increased recently. I love Queen and will most definitely consider it for a future tutorial! cheers.
Eric, great job. I have been creating similar splits and layers on the Kross 2 and it works very well. However, I do have a coupe of questions. 1. Any chance you can do a video on assigning effects? 2. Have you done any of the combi set up work on the Kross 2 Editor? I tried, but the editor keeps freezing and I have to shut down the program and start over. I'm using Windows 10. Thanks again for the great videos!
Thanks! I'm not a huge fan of the editor. I tried it for a little bit and it was okay but seems to have compatibility issues with Windows. I have a video I need to finish editing that touches somewhat on assigning effects. I've been busy lately with gig life but hope to push it out here in the next week or two.

Since you are intimately familiar with the Korg Kross 2, I was wondering if you could tell me how to access the pattern recording mode? Neither the manual or Korg's UA-cam channel, provides any insight into this. I spent hours menu-diving & doing online research and have combed through every section & page within the sequencer mode and all to no avail. I even lokked for professional tutorials for purchase & could not find any. Korg's product support does not into tech advice. Does the Kross 2 even have pattern recording? I know the new i3 workstation doesn't have pattern recording. I don't even know what the term workstation means any more....can you please give me some insight?
@@EricJungeMusic Patterns are a collection of loops recorded in real-time( but separate from the linear track view.) @@angel006a I don't think it works that way because the harmonies vary. If it was the same interval for every note, it would be easy to transpose one layer and call it good. hope that makes sense...
it's also my understanding that the "scale" tab has to do with micro intonations between the notes that are often hard to detect to the untrained ear. But I haven't explored this tab in a while, mostly because I don't really use it.
yeah, I think I get how you would do this. You could program a pseudo-pentatonic scale as a user scale (see page 163--or 172 of the parameter guide) and then assign that user scale to the second timbre (see page 76, though my reader shows pg. 84), to the harmony timbre and yeah there would be no real need to assign additional timbres for just one single key to produce major thirds. However, the user scales only admit changing notes by + or - 99 cents so this can be tricky, you would have to de-tune certain notes very specifically to achieve that. Still is an option should you really really need additional timbre slots to use.
Great video series, soooo much easier watching someone explain how to do this than trying to read the manual and put all the steps together!
I'm glad it is helpful to you! Gotta love those Korg manuals.

I hope u can help this problem, thanks.
