PD: yeah, Freezas PL is too high, but Bardock is like Trunks, he doesn't miss a chance, and the scene implies he attacked when Freezas was shocked by his SSJ transformation and his guard dropped. Actually, Goku could have won easily at Namek had he been more direct and quick, but Goku likes to fight his enemies and see the extent of their power.
You know in theory, zenkai boosts give a multiplier ranging from a low x1.25 up to x33 for goku. Then you can factor the x50 from super saiyan. Also do consider that bardock must have gotten at least 1 or 2 zenkai boosts in his original movie, one against dodoria for sure.
I would imagine if bardock can kill frieza! But he has to be in first form & caught off guard after that is king cold bardock has to train his ass off, good thing cooler isn’t canon cause the saiyans are sooo dead after frieza death.
see if super saiyan was thought of then, then bardock could have been a super saiyan if you think about it, he was in pure rage from his friends death, he was determined to live, and he was in the need for the power. he could have been a super saiyan but it wasn't fully thought out yet so he was given the short end as well as timeline stuff he had to lose the fight.
His power level wasn't high enough for the initial trigger I guess. SS seems to take a strain on the body that a person needs to be conditioned for. Goten & Trunks for example are said to be equally as strong as Gohan when they're introduced; which explains why they could go SS. Their base powers were high enough.

Form freeza :p His power level during the destruction of Vegeta is about 10 000 (maybe 30 000 to 50 000 with the zenkai boost), so his power level would be 500 000 at worst, wich is weaker then freeza first form and over 2 million at best (lil' bit weaker then freeza third form) Freeza last form is 10 times to 15 times stronger then bardock maximum capacity at this point
lets say his powerlevel is only 500k, thats only a little weaker than freeza while yes powerlevels work exponentially it is safe to assume (with recent developments from super) that bardock, as a saiyan, would be able to adapt and overcome this difference in power between him and first form freeza once freeza notices he is going to try to transform but knowing bardocks character, he wouldnt give him the time to do so and probably kill him now lets say his powerlevel is at around 2 million in this case freeza will be dead even quicker before he gets the chance to transform freeza will be caught off guard by how powerful bardock has gotten and once the first hit connects its pretty much over especially when you consider the fact how long each transformation takes it is safe to say that if bardock went super saiyan at that time, freeza would have died
