Thanks Oburg. I cut my teeth in the Mount Rogers area 35 years ago. The stone went away thank goodness. 😂

I just did this loop on May 18 - we started at MTS and worked our way up to sams knob (staying overnight below) then around and down flat laurel creek. Fantastic but I forgot how cold it was and definitely won't be bringing my ultralight summer sleeping bag again! Brr.

Awesome. Camped one time between Sam and Little Sam in late November, got down to 9 degrees that night. LOL. With the Devil's Courthouse nearby, we call that area the Devil's Freezer. 😂
