Brilliant video- really useful- would I use the blue dot bobbin case for using shirring elastic in the bobbin- as it has a looser tension and can take thicker threads... please advise.. thanks
Thanks Kim! Another helpful video. I do have the blue dot but honestly I don't know what I was doing wrong because I couldn't see any difference and wasn't able to achieve that "handsewing" appearance I was aiming for. If you have any further advice on this I'd appreciate it!
Hi Kathleen: I haven't tried it for the hand quilting look, but it's supposed to work with that. Have you tried the red dot bobbin case for this application and did you use the hand quilting choice under the Sewing Application menu? I would try the blue dot bobbin case first with the Sewing Application menu (the t-shirt icon) and choosing Quilting and then Quilting Hand-look QU. If this doesn't work well, I would substitute the red dot bobbin case with the same machine stitch selections and see how it goes. Hope this helps 🙂
Thank you Kim!! I've copied and pasted your answer for reference and I will definitely try this :) I sometimes like that look for top stitching especially on sweaters and coats and it would save me a load of time to not have to do it by hand!
Hi Kim, you are so helpful! Regarding the blue dot bobbin case , I have a Janome 15000, would it be beneficial for me to use it on the Janome 15000? And what part number should I get?
I find that this really helps for free motion quilting. I'm not sure if it is the same part number for the Janome 15000, so I would suggest checking with your Janome dealer to be sure that you get the right one for that machine.
I have a question. I now own my third janome and my newest is the janome 9400 I am still having problems free motion quilting going up and to the left. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Anna Marie: Some machines prefer to stitch going in one direction, rather than the other - say to the right, rather than to the left. This may be the case with your Janome 9400 if you aren't finding issues when quilting to the right. There could be many other reasons as well, so it's difficult for me to accurately pinpoint what our exact issue may be. A few suggestions: try quilting to the right and see if you are still having this problem; if you are using a Supreme Slider, try quilting with your feed dogs up; make sure you are using the blue dot bobbin case. If you are still encountering problems, I would suggest contacting your local dealer to see if they might have some suggestions or might need to check your machine for a problem. I hope you are able to solve this as when it's quilting along well, it's a snap to get your projects finished.
Sure wish i had seen this before I zig zagged over some stained glass leading. Had a lot of trouble with tension. I have a Janome 1500 and have those 3 bobbin cases. Used the red.
I'm not familiar with Elna machines, although I know that you can often use Janome accessories on the various Elna machines. I would suggest that you check with your local Elna or Janome dealer who should be able to confirm this for you.
