@@justinburritt1385 Maybe a few years ago when PAR ran SEPO/POSE which ran with CSX power... Pan Am has Ex-CSX C40-8s which aren’t always painted over so that might be what you are seeing too. But normal CSX trains do not run though OOB.
Hello, I am on vacation here and did not know this train existed😭 I just woke up at 3am to shaking and loud train whistles that sound like they belong on a train to the depths of the underworld. I am traumatized 😀
It's a "cabbage". Cab + baggage. Take the engine out of an old diesel locomotive, put it on the opposite end of the train from the locomotive, and you get both a baggage hold and a control cab so you can run the train in push-pull rather than having to run the locomotive around it at each end of the run.
Did they retain the traction motors and use power from the Genesis, or is it totally gutted? Seems like with traction motors, fuel tank, and power plant gone it might be a little less robust as a cab... although the F40 frame is crazy heavy.
Which one? There’s an amusement park by the beach (Palace playland)that’s basically just across the tracks from the station, while there’s a bigger amusement park further inland (Funtown/Splashtown) that is an 80-90 min walk or an 8 min car/taxi ride away
one is an old locomotive with the engine removed, it's a cab car so they don't have to turn the train around. It's also good insurance for the engineer since in a grade crossing accident locomotives are built like tanks and will go thru anything short of another tank, this on a line with a lot of grade crossings. the LIRR used the old locos for hotel power to run the lights and heat in the passenger cars as well as the cab car use. Modern locomotives have a built in hotel power generator.
Wow that woman in the tank top sure looked sunburned! I bet she had a hard time sleeping on her back. I know I did many years ago going 2 an amusement park wearing a tank top and no lotion on me

Nice raised letter
Whoa that end locomotive had a garage door on the side. I thought it was a luggage car at first when it was approaching. Does it hold luggage?
It does. They made them out of old locomotives. It’s also used as a cab car.

It’s an old gutted EMD F-40

Hate those fake electronic crossing 'bells'!
🤡
Those E-bells really are a disgrace to the railfanning community
The Downeaster whipped out the huge middle finger
How far of a walk is it from the train station, to the amusement park? I haven't been there in over 30 years.
I've never been but it looks like a fun town!

NICE
At least its wasn't going really fast
Oh there's almost always a slowdown put on blocks where they know there's going to be street events. To give people time to clear.
@@kishascape Its slow because theres a station legit right next to this crossing
