Lilly, I was in an abusive relationship for nearly 20 years. I was young and foolish when I first met this person, and still young when I left them. They mentally and physically abused the heck outta me. And one day I said in my heart 'if I dont forgive this person, it will eat away at me for the rest of my life...so now that I am free of them, I need to forgive them, let go and and finally move on mentally as well as physically, and although it was hard at first, I did it! Now when I think of that person, I feel almost nothing for them that I wouldn't feel for a complete stranger. I am stronger and better for having forgiven them. I have evolved from that battered and brutalised individual, and I have let go, completely let go of the anger, the hate and the terrible venum I was carrying. I have not done this for them, no, I have done it purely for me, and I am a better, a stronger, and a happier version of me now; minus all that rage and baggage. I live in a small town and I love to cook but you can not make any money as a cook in a small town. All you youtubers inspired me to do a cooking show and make it funny and fun to. I needed this advice so badly. A friend started to date my ex boyfriend as soon as we broke up and never talked to me about it or tried to see if I would be okay with it, knowing that we had had a very long and tumultuous relationship and that her being with him without asking me would hurt me. She moved away that summer and I never confronted her, but just kind of cut her off and harboured a lot of anger. I found out today that she wants to talk to me about this, and I really don't want to rehash everything I felt and went through. I think I will find it in me to forgive her so that I can stop feeling angry and resentful towards someone else, but I won't reach out to her because I'm not ready for that. If she ever contacts me, I'll tell her that while I don't think what she did was okay, I am no longer harbouring any resentment and have moved on with my life. I cannot forgive the person I live with because she lost my trust and respect. She hit me at 4am because she forgot the door code and her keys. She was drunk AF and high AF and lashed out at me. Called me all sorts of names so I called the cops. Yes I did. She put 3 holes in my door as well. I don't feel comfortable living here and because of that I'm eating less and stressing more. I need to meal prep and she is always home and the kitchen is always a disaster. What do I do to overcome that fear?! Like I'm being real here. I got 27 days left here.
I get what you're saying but think you can give those two meanings different names: forgiving and moving on. You can move on but refuse to trust the person who hurt you.
