Why we bought a farm in Norway 🇳🇴

- Norway is a beautiful country with clear blue fjords, more mountains than you could ever hike, a decent amount of wildlife, and endless forests.
I mean, the winters are long and dark, and the mosquitoes and biting flies will annoy the hell out of you in July, but apart from that, it is an amazing place with vast space and very few people. It is a country where you can still return to a life of less dependency, and a closer connection to nature.
At least that's what I like to think.
As a bonus, buying land and small farms in the countryside is somewhat affordable. That's why my girlfriend Thea and I bought a small farm close to a lake in the countryside of mid-Norway.
It took a childhood in a small town, 5 years of studying, and a year in Vietnam to realize what life I was truly looking for!
I couldn't find it in any other country until we came to Norway.

I didn't know you were not Norwegian! Cool, this makes immigration feel so much more possible. Thanks for sharing some of your history. I think it's cool that you became a hiker, an outdoorsman. Enjoy peace.
It's still a bit tricky with the immigration but definitely possible :) I'm glad you enjoyed the look back :) maybe you'll make it here too one day :)
I love how you ended the video with the homemade ice bath.
Always! In that case hot tho 😅☺️
I’m happy that you have not given up. I’ve watched your progress for the past year or more.
I understand that realization of using recycled material, having not much money and lots of effort to accomplish something. My home features much of that.
But I always look at my shed with satisfaction. I know it will last a lifetime.
I'm not particularly good with giving up :)
And those structures at least have character! That isn't something you find often in modern buildings :)
Perfect video. I definitely gonna visit Norway someday. Feels like you sold me a country
And thanks for the warning that life outside the city actually harder than city
It's a good place! you will see when you visit for sure :)
Norway's Tourism Board should hire you to promote the country. I love your story of finding a place of peace. Enjoy.
You let them now 😅 they haven't even ever answered any email. And I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
@@tilldaling The should. You really live more like a norwegian than most of us norwegians ourselves 😂 And your rocking that Mariusgenser like no other. Your the real viking tourists are looking for!
@@Markus-iu5is it's the perfect sweater! And I'm glad you think so, let us see if they ever reach out 😅 I would not say no to some long exploration!
What a beautiful video! Love how you two are following your passion🥰
I'm glad you're staying along ☺️ there are quite some plans for the coming years :)
Very cool to see your journey! We are a small scale farm in Innlandet, and it is true as you say. This life looks very idyllic on the outside, but oh my gosh it is so much hard work. We moved to a farm to live the simple life, but in the last three years we have been more overworked and stressed than ever before. But it like you say, you're setting up a business, and finally now on year 4 we feel on top of things, and life is calming down. Good luck on your project!
I kind of feel like Canada is a mix between productivity and simple living depending on where someone lives.
It is the same here, all cities have the pressure I assume :)
I do not often comment on UA-cam videos, but I just want to say that I believe this channel is going to get viral soon, the music, story telling, filming and editing, masterpiece.
Wishing yall the best :)!!
I truly hope you will be right with this! I would love to be able to spend more time on it :)
the video is wowwwww. i loved every natural scene from it.❤❤
I'm glad you're enjoying Norway as much as we do! :)
Lovely video, Till! I’m so glad you’ve been able to find fulfillment in a more rustic lifestyle. It’s been gratifying to see you and your young family grow into where you are now. It’s a like a greatest hits of your lives! 😁
You knew the story before watching I assume! :) Denmark doesn't even feel too far away in terms of years :D
Great video Till! I looked through your older videos and came to the conclusion you are 28. The beard makes you look a bit older though lol. I hope you are proud to be German despite your passport difficulties. One of my best friends is mostly German. Me and my brother tease him on certain things.
Right now on Duolingo I am learning about Oktoberfest.
That is correct! And it might be so :) I do like the structure and discipline being German comes with!
@@tilldaling Me and my brother make the joke that our best friend is the dominant one in relationships because of his heritage. I do have some German in me but mostly Italian and Eastern European. So, I consider myself pretty disciplined.
@@MDobri-sy1ceyou must enjoy olive oil then 😅
@@tilldaling I do. I have been taking a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil in the morning for years now for health reasons though lol.
I was just thinking of Switzerland in terms of similar nature but they speak a different kind of German.
Very different :D And farms are much more expensive..
@@tilldaling Well, I just learn the Standard German except, I noticed some Germans do say Servos “Hello.” But that’s probably more southern Germany.
@@MDobri-sy1ce Yes, Bavaria :)
just 7 weeks to go, and then it is my turn 🙂
I hope it's going to be a great journey :)
Hey Till, could you please share some info about weather in Trondheim region? We found a very nice cabin but wondering if it too windy/rainy there? The cold and darkness are not a problem but only some strong wind and everyday rain would bother us. Thank you for your time 🙏🤍
The coast is windy, not too strong in summer :) I'd suggest you spend some time here to see for yourself!
This year we had a great spring!
@@tilldaling Okay, thank you for your response.
Hei Till, tusen takk for sharing this very calming and i inspiring video! We are also looking for a cheap cabin in southern Norway but would like to have a permanen living right. Do you thing this is possible for eu citizens and an average budget of 50 000 Euro? Tried to contact some norwegia real estate agency but they do not respond. We thought it could be the lower budget... Thank you for your responce.
Those would be small farms without the need for husbandry... And on that budget, I'm afraid it is not going to be much more than a ruin or an extremely simple cabin without a permanent right to live. 100.000 plus some restorations will be more realistic :)
Pretty much everything goes over Finn. And most likely and unfortunately, they might not have taken you seriously :)
@@tilldaling Thanl you for the info, Till. We do not plan to have animals for now so I hope with a little bit more cash to be able to find something suitable. Stay safe & be healthy. Looking forward for your next amazing video! 🩵
Work on a land makes a man free and knowledge makes him unfit to be a slave
I could not agree more! Self-sufficiency is a wonderful addiction
It's so amazing to see you progress. I have been following your journey since last year. I dream of owning a farm in Norway and your journey is truly motivational. Cheers.
I'm glad you stuck around that long :) it's of course fairly progress here, but steady. I hope you will find your farm in Norway sometime :)
