Using DTMF to censor GTFO... A true man of class.
Pretty sure that was dial-tone not DTMF, but whatever :)
@@pete3897 350 Hz and 440 Hz... Those two tones, swapped at 90hz is what is commonly known as dial tone. Sometimes two of a thing, like tones for example, is referred to as 'dual'. Back in the day, if you changed something at a regular interval, they might call that 'modulate'.
@@TracyNorrell Yep I'm aware dial tone is two tones mixed (in my country its 400hz and 440hz). However it is not part of the DTMF standard - the Multi Frequency part refers to the differing pairs used for each number. Dial-tone is just DT :)
You seem like a person of culture and understanding. Picking the nits of nuances defined by a standards body is a favorite past time of mine as well. I'm glad that we were able to agree that dial tone is technically DTMF, even if it doesn't match the (0-9, *, #, A-D) "standard". It's been a pleasure to share this dialog with you.
@@TracyNorrell wow, thanks for the cordial reply! I'm in full agreement with you around how humorous the choice of tone was either way :)
The PoC | GTFO people divide into two categories:
- those who RTFM before trying PoC for the first time
- those who RTFM before trying PoC for the second time
the card throwing is my favorite part
Her's a true "carder". hehe
You put your book on a shelf, not to look clever, rather to be able to refer to the information, secure in the knowledge that it has not been corrupted or is unavailable due to a breakdown in tech.
Nice joke.
Still buying DVDs in 2024!
@@zxborg9681 DVD's were designed with a limited life span.
Travis Goodspeed was my inspiration to delve deeper. Super nice dude too.
Pretty happy that I found this series. Thank you for making these!
Polyglots are very cool. There is this "new polyglot binary format" called APE(Actually portable executables) discovered by Jart that is actually native code, packaged up in native binary formats, in a way that they don't interfere with each other, so that you can run the same actual binary code on multiple platforms(e.g. you have a single file that can run the same code on Windows, Linux, OS X, the BSDs, etc.). It is crazy to me that that is possible, that none of the various ELF, COFF, etc. formats include incompatible header data, but jart took it a little bit further: Building an entire C library(Cosmopolitan libc) around it, and embedding a zip-file structure so that you can create a portable binary that also includes a read/writeable filesystem(yes, with writeback to the actual executable). It's basically a cross-platform SDK that runs on most target OSs from a single binary. Pure awesome.
Russians probably had some sort of contract with Casio that let them "copy"
It happend the same with the famous "Nu, pogodi!" LCD games.
I like the old electronics ads in PoC||GTFO.
I'm too busy forward engineering this week to have any time to reverse engineer anything. Reverse engineering takes like 10x longer (but it's way more fun!)
Quickly becoming my favorite YT channel, keep it coming Hash 😎
02:05 that zero ex two-two.
As in two-two-twain.
Apple always look to me to be inspired by bang olufsen aesthetics
They've stolen everything they ever built. 🤷♂️
I love the cards !
Hash, classy AF.
I was wondering if you subscribed to the periodical 2600?
Lifetime membership, purchased during COVID when they were struggling.
ok... lots to think about here... On a side note, going to be SE of you this weekend in Tyler.
Nooooo! The Cards.... 😢
I love the sermons by PML... I've uploaded readings of them to youtube.
So maybe someone will do it with Brick Game
4:21 What was Casio thinking when they copied and ripped off that Russian calculator?! ... 😂
Reverse engineer? My daddy never reversed anything in his life and he became a millionaire. He even had reverse taken out of his pickup. Forward ...always forward
Usenet!
I didnt like that card throwing TBH, looked sketchy. And that 0x22 not being even 18 (\022) - that polyglot magic is called mojibake as far as i recall my biggest inferential errors :)
Anyone see some of those videos that use a laser (rust remover) system to shave down chips, a small layer at a time to see what's underneath? It's pretty cool and you can do the same with those 8 layer boards (or pretty much anything with layers) to reverse engineer just about anything. Here's a simple example (not toxic solvents or acids, required) ua-cam.com/video/NN8bqM7qMTg/v-deo.html
are you real
4:29 its obvious the soviet union that copied
Wait it’s “rechessim”?
Yeah - it also troubled me - at least it doesnt sound similar to recession 8-D
Recessim- Latin adverb, meaning "moving backwards", from "recedo" meaning "I fall back".
generic algorithm pleasing comment
😮💨 I’m just not sure if I should believe people that but a video game font in red with a white boarder on the screen
