going from what you said disconnecting the box bypasses the imobilizer well actually any old rover fob with the 2 buttons if you press lock 8 times then unlock 8 times it actually works lol

Don't panic, but I'm going to say the 'P' word again! 😅 What I've been doing with my Polo is doing easily reversable things. So I bought an aluminium handbrake cover I really liked but didn't fit because old car syndrome! So I ended up cutting a groove in the cover so it'd fit, rather than cut the bit off the handbrake. I've put some stuff on the door cards that can be removed, odd bits and bobs like that, so if I ever want to return it to stock I can do. I've done nothing that can be considered a modification though. I just felt after 15 (almost 16 now) years of ownership I needed to give him a bit of a facelift! Maybe that'd be the way to go with the Metro? It's amazing the difference new seat covers and floormats makes. Just do gentle things with it. Shame it's an auto, I can understand you there. But it's still a nice little car and is worthy of a bit of slap! (I realise this probably makes me sound a bit pathetic, not slamming it or putting coilovers on etc., but I'm too bloody old for all that now! I want to get from A to B safely, that's about it. My teenager days are long since behind me!)
I heard you can fit MGF suspension to a metro and get rid of the Hydrogas set up but with it being a low mileage auto you’d be better of keeping it standard maybe if another one pops up at some point

Kev l would keep it standard but l would register it as a vintage vehicle then you won't have to pay to pad tax or insurance all you will have to pay for is the fuel and then take it on its first vintage car rally then you will win a trophy
Don't do any mods. As others have suggested, get it back to show room standard inside and out and flog it to a collector, or stick it in storage for another ten years
You’re wasting your time pumping up the fluid, as it’s the gas that has gone. You are just replacing the space where the gas was with fluid. The suspension will be very harsh with just extra fluid in it. Front suspension units need removing and sent somewhere to be recharged. Hydrolastic suspension services do this. 🤘

Hydro-elastic suspension sag can be a pain to cure but pumping back up can hold for years (or hours....)
