  • Coming from a cartesian printer before having purchased my K1's, I knew nothing about speed...or how aggressive these machine's movements can be under high acceleration values.
As I researched to see what can be done to retain my machine settings but keep my K1 from getting up and walking away during a print, I found ‪@Derrick_Darrell‬ 's Wide Stance V2 feet and decided to give them a try.
After many months of use, I can confirm that they do in fact keep the printer stabilized, maintaining the same position where I had initially placed it.
I honestly can't say the same for the factory feet as I could see a noticeable difference in the machine's position over time.
My decisions to go with these feet over any other options stems from their ability to provide a wider footprint while maintaining a lower center of gravity. Both equally important for this application.
These feet not only keep my machines planted but they prevent any wobble that was present when running the stock set-up. It was only a matter of time before my second K1 was given the same treatment and I made sure to capture that for anyone interested.
In this video, you'll find a step-by-step guide on how to incorporate these feet onto your machine to help remedy the urge for it to try and dance its way off of the surface it sits on.
Below you will find a link to Derrick Darrell's Makerworld account which has a variety of additional items for your K1 included (these feet do not interfere with his 270 degree hinges or the side braces):

🤦🤦 lol, i remember scrolling thru somewhere and seen those feet installed and wondered how they held on. I went with the Prada feet cause i liked how they also bolted on the sides. Appreciate the effort making videos! Looking forward to the next one

The great thing about these feet is that they won't interfere with Derrick Darrell's side braces which provide additional rigidity to the frame since high accelerations present flex. I decided to go this route, keeping that in mind. You provide a good point though as I'll have to detail that they won't work with the D3vil hooves due to their side mounting points. It would be a lot of filament gone to waste if someone doesn't realize so I'll need to make that very clear.

I've been running these for about 3 months and they are very good at what they do. D3vil ones are so wasteful but these rock

@ThisisDD I never even had a consideration for the D3vil Design option after witnessing these at work! I'm very pleased with them.

@@CovenantCustom i printed these out and tried them and was much happier with them as well. The D3vil Design ones are attractive, but they are definitely not as good as these. I also love how much higher the printer rests. I can fit my hands under easily now so I don't have to lay my printer down as much

I was actually just looking for a solution for my K1! currently I have ratchet straps compressing the rubber cones into a concrete paver so the my k1 is about 50 lbs heavier, but I am very much considering some HULA feet, since there's a kit for the K1 from voxel filaments!

@eovnu87435ds I initially had one of the machines on anti-vibration feet that were intended for use with a washer/dryer. These provided greater stability but it would be interesting to install Hula feet in addition to these as both machines are equipped to create a control element for comparison.

I like the devil prada's the most.

@TheOneAndOnlySatan They're definitely another option! Since I had the workspace, I chose to go with these since their larger footprint helps distribute the machine's movement even more effectively. Both are better than stock though!

Cool guide. Are u going to install bed fan chamber heater mod to that k1? Interesting one and I guess I can see it already at your second machine.

    • @CovenantCustom
      @CovenantCustom  2 дні тому

@kenyajobs1069 Thanks! Going to be covering that install soon. It's most effective with a 6mm bed and 500/750W heater which I've also got planned for this machine. Results with a factory bed are minimal.

I have both the 6mm bed and 500W heater waiting to be installed. Expect a video in in the coming weeks as I've got a bit of travel coming up.
