Unfortunately, the Hungarians had to play that match in bad weather with not having the proper footwear for it. Even then, they still put up a fight until the end, Puskas got a goal right at the end to equalize, but it was offside, and on that day, the Hungarian golden generation died.

1986 is still the best final ever. Amazing football, back and forth nonstop gameplay. Germany weren't giving up and Maradonas Argentina never lost hope.
@@gumdeo 2022 was exiting I'll take nothing away from that. But if anything has taught us about football it's that you NEVER write off the Germans (Italy's an exception). Mix that with Maradonas Argentina in a heat and pressure filled stadium (quite literally) and you've got a game with endless possibilities. The final was amazing, never knowing who would win at 2-2 and then after so much brilliant football, skilfully and tactically it was Maradona who made the winning goal happen to make his childhood dream come true.
@@MikeDchy25 i think the 86 WC and 2022 WC are similar. Argentina in both cases were 2 goals ahead and then conceded 2 goals to become draw. Still they didn't lose hope and played, maradona's 86 and Messi's 2022 were both fantastic WCs.

I saw both these WCs live on TV because I was born in the 70s and I can say though the final of 2022 had penalties it was better because after France equalised both the teams were attacking which is what I love in football. The 86 WC both teams weren't attacking as much as you can see in the 2022. Even the save from Dibu in the last minutes was something. Just compare the shots on target from both teams in 86 to 2022. The 2022 final had much more shots on target than the 86WC. I personally liked 86 semifinal against England where Maradonna dribbled past many English players and scored the goal, the semifinal was better than the final.

@@gumdeo 2022 was exiting I'll take nothing away from that. But if anything has taught us about football it's that you NEVER write off the Germans (Italy's an exception).
Mix that with Maradonas Argentina in a heat and pressure filled stadium (quite literally) and you've got a game with endless possibilities.
The final was amazing, never knowing who would win at 2-2 and then after so much brilliant football, skilfully and tactically it was Maradona who made the winning goal happen to make his childhood dream come true.
@@MikeDchy25 i think the 86 WC and 2022 WC are similar. Argentina in both cases were 2 goals ahead and then conceded 2 goals to become draw. Still they didn't lose hope and played, maradona's 86 and Messi's 2022 were both fantastic WCs.
@@ebynmatthews 86 had better football I think, but I think it had more to do with the fact that there were no penalties involved. They were both exciting but the football flows better when there's no penalties.
@@MikeDchy25 As a whole tournament 86 was better, but if you compare only final then 2022 was definitely better. I saw both these WCs live on TV because I was born in the 70s and I can say though the final of 2022 had penalties it was better because after France equalised both the teams were attacking which is what I love in football. The 86 WC both teams weren't attacking as much as you can see in the 2022. Even the save from Dibu in the last minutes was something.
Just compare the shots on target from both teams in 86 to 2022. The 2022 final had much more shots on target than the 86WC. I personally liked 86 semifinal against England where Maradonna dribbled past many English players and scored the goal, the semifinal was better than the final.

People keep saying "it had the best atmosphere" 😒 really what are you twelve? Anything that happened the last 13 years is the best. I wasn't born yet to watch 1970 or 74 WC with Pele and Cruyff or 82 Brazil vs Italy and I don't have to cus I've seen them and respect how much more entertaining some were compared to others. Zoomers are in competition with other generations like everything in the last 12 years is suddenly the best.
I'm sorry but I've seen 10 World Cups and 2010 was the absolute worst I've ever witnessed, even the smaller teams played crap. And I'm not alone here, pretty much everyone was tuning out and they just wanted the final to be over before it started.

He was better than Messi in the final. It's not about who was called MVP of the game by FIFA, it's just my choice. As far as I can agree with Messi as best player of 2022 final game, I can't agree with Burruchaga as 1986 best final game player. Coverage really started to improve when some genius decided to put the camera in the stands on the halfway line, rather than behind the goal posts.
At the time it would be even harder to see what is happening at goal area because of the film quality.
