I think its very important to note that no one actually buys their armor or should buy their armor. Best armor in the game is available for free, just lying around. So their initial cost only factors into the repair and upgrades.

Exactly. Buying weapons or armor in this game is a waste of money. Everything can be found for free, you just need to know where to look. Money is needed only for repair and upgrades. Not even ammo and conusables are worth spending money to get, they are quite plentiful in the world.

Personally I totally agree cause my 2nd run I started to realize I found more armor long as I was patient, but at the same time I feel if you are really struggling and need that boost save a little bit on the side, I feel saving up and buying that really nice set just feels so good especially if you keep notes of good artifact spawns check back often it's a nice role play experience but I totally get the I bought a good set and found it 30 mins later 😂 overall still totally agree let the zone guide you to a amazing set.

There is one suit that is not available for free which i prefer as my heavy suit. Which is the s100 survey. It's only 50k which is worth it imo. It's not as good as an exo but as a "heavy" its amazing. Almost full anomaly and physical protection when fully upgraded
Though I have to say the way I played it i heavily farmed artifacts when I started and only really started doing missions when I had 3 mil saved up at which point it doesn't really matter. I'm just collecting different weapons and suits at this point and idc if I have to buy them when there is no available free version (such as the pnz 9n Wolfgang)

I used exoskeleton armour with artifacts to increase carry weight and stamina, with that I carried so much loot, that I fully upgraded armour and gun's, and even started to buy ammo from vendors because I had so much money. Don't fear of exoskeleton armour, it's actually ower powered.

Never upgrade electro/fire/chem protection on armors. I always take my exoskeleton off before going into chem/acid/fire anomaly on veteran. It is hard to die being naked, and there is no reason to lose durability. Electro anomalies hit hard, but you should be able to avoid damage in 95% of cases by using bolts.

Found a monolith holdout in Pripyat, I believe it's right besides the music school and it's a hard fight cause they keep spawning. But here's the best part, some of their drops have random Ruby and Diamond exoskeletons which I have sold, lugged back to my stash at the Corps HQ. Which I then access at Rostock to sell to Ragman.

  • @88Bulko

1st - farm "Compass" and use "Weird Ball" After that you can run any armor you want. Even the cheap one, because "Compass" will give you max possible physial protection, and a "Weird Ball" as a backup for gunfights. for capacity farm "Weird Water" and you prepeared fot 80% of the gameplay. Additionaly you can farm "Liquid Rock" or "Skipjack". This will cover another 10% of gameplay. So for minimal comfort you need ANY armor with at least 3 slots.
I've tried exoskeletons, unfortunately they kill most of the artefact gameplay, you basically need only "Weird water" and "Hypercube"/"Thunderberry". No micro management. I hope they will add sleep anywhere and sleeping bag + exhaustion, so you actually NEEd to sleep.

It would be good to clarify the situation with wearing a full suit and a suit plus a helmet...
And what is read on Reddit - the protective parameters of the helmet seem to apply only to the head, but at the same time people noted that the combination of a helmet and a suit with high rad and physical protection indicators win over full suits with superior characteristics.

When it comes to cheap and durable exoskeletons I would use Operator and Brummbar. You can find Operator Exosuit in Burnt Forest during main mission and Brummbar past Yaniv( I don't know the chances but you can also find Brummbar on the random enemies I think)

Hey, something to consider and reason to use Ruby exo over diamond: The Ruby is almost a mix between the Diamond Exo and Operator Exo with its upgrades, it has the Arm servos upgrade for weapon accuracy AND stamina regen. You can upgrade all nodes and aren't locked out of choices, and seems to have a lot of wear resistance when upgraded. Diamond beats it out on protection but idk how the protections work with artifacts, IE does a max phys protection artifact have any benefit if you are already at 5 bars of phys pro. Would love to see a breakdown of stats and what not like you did for all the guns.

@ASSASSIN19923 Artifacts can provide physical protection like armor does. If you upgrade an armor to max level of protection (5 bars but I'd like to see data on how armor works) would an artifact that provides a medium bonus to physical protection be a benefit. Does armor have a hard cap, no cap, diminished returns, weird rules? Is wearing a compass artifact with a Diamond exo doing much of anything

Moral is if you’re a guy running around grabbing artifacts or regularly filling up your inventory with gear you can sell then the exoskeletons or gear similar to it it cost and strength can work out just be a bit mindful when spending on smaller stuff such as ammo or supplies so you can break even, by time you have exoskeletons you’re probably passed mid game so you should have the fundamentals down pat, but for those that dread the carry weight system or don’t even look for artifacts only if you come across them then seva suits are your better bet

Yup I ran the SEVA from top of concrete building in garbage early game, wanderer SEVA mid game, and base exoskeleton late game. It has the highest wear resistance and I believe second highest max weight or very close to second. Sure it has one of lowest anomaly protections but they aren’t that dangerous anyways and artifacts can fix that. It has second or highest PSI protection from what I remember. Diamond is basically the only exo that is better for what I want in an armor but it still has less wear resistance and a bit more expensive so I just have the Diamond in my stash. Base exo is pretty heavy to wear but can be reduced with upgrades. Most of the other exos have far less PSI, max weight, and wear resistance so they don’t interest me. Plus a couple are hella expensive.

In my opinion, SEVA suits are the best in game, low physical protection can be balanced with Compass artefact which gives 80% physical protection and even the SSP-99 gives 20% physical protection will give maximum protection of 100%
But SEVA suits give you all one lead container which compass can sit inside, and also they give really good protection for every other stat which can be further boosted with artefacts but the thing about SEVA is you only need like medium protect stats on artefacts to basically reach peak protection on any particular section you want, fire, chemical or electric and so on.
I really wish I could find the armour upgrade stats in the game files because some armour may be pretty mid, but once upgraded they get pretty broken.

As long as you don’t sell ammo/guns/artifacts/armor to barkeeps- Also, I wud recommend two alternate sets of weapons/armor. You can swap in between them and when u go into a green outpost or “repair runs” you save a ton of money repairing at green techs, which is more worth for the fast travel fees. And don’t ever let yr weapons/armor degrade to red.

I don't recommend go and run and find the high tier armor, wait until you get a lot of money. I actually had over 250k when I started to upgrade my armor in second run:
Lesser Zone and Cordon: OZK Explorer - at this point you can get any better without buying, so not point.
Garbage, Cement Factory and The Cooling Towers: PSZ-5V Guardian of Freedom Suit found near The Brood west of Slag Heap. Decent starter armor, with good physical and radiation, no PSI, but you shouldn't get into that many Controller fights.
Wild Island, Zaton and the Swamp: If PSZ-5V is in yellow get the PSZ-5I Hawk, found at the Railway Maintaince Facility, east of wild island. An an unique variant of the same variant. An underrated armor is the Mercenary Suit. Was the first I upgraded, but that was just so I could get 3 containes, and 1 weight. It got comparable decent Radition and Physical defense, and just as good upgraded, but weights almost nothing.
Then get the Seva D suit at Cage at Cementary Factor for the last part of the Swam and SIRCAA.
Then you are midway through the game, and you can get the CORUNDUM SUIT. Upgrade the shit out of this. Also get the SEVA-I, upgrade if you want, and switch between them, and only repair it at a green technician to save money.
This will be enough until you get into the endgame, and can you can get yourself an Exoskeleton with sprint. At this point you should have tone of money. I upgraded both the Corundum and SEVA-I and still had almost 300k left to go up and upgrade my Seiga and Kharod.
If you got Weird Water, and has no problem taking trips back to sell, you should get money in no time. Also a lot of the artifacts that vendor ask for you can find at the 10 Scanner location, which are all easy money. I had almost all artifact before a vendor asked for me to get it.

So annoyed that Guardian of Freedom armor is still bugged even after they “addressed” it in the patch

By the way it can also provide +10% stamina recovery, not that it matters, but might have a use. Not sure if there are other armors that can do this.

Good content, but for my taste a bit too length and chaotic. I would benefit from chapters and clear structure.

i disagree about the cheap armor for saving costs strategy. you should increase yur carry weight asap and make sure you have enough energies and water, to take weapons and medicine from your trips to pay off your repair costs every time and even get a net positive. in my last playthrough i was sitting on 100k at the end of lesser zone. also make sure not to use items and ammo you are not supposed to at a certain stage of a game. for example dont use 9x39 weapons when at garbage or wild island because they are much more expensive to run and to maintain. dont rush to the bulat suit in army wearhouses and maintain it throughout the game. it will not be sustainable. but anyway.
TLDR: dont switch to cheap armor. increase carry weight instead and sell collect reasonably expensive weapons from bodies and medicine from bodies on your travels as well as armors you dont want to wear anyway or duplicates just to sell them after each journey to maintain your gear at a net positive.

btw money is really not a problem in this game when you pick up valuebale items along your travels and sell all the ones you dont need. i never cared if a vendor is green, white or orange and still had 700k when completing the game while running operator exo, svu and revolver.

Just loot enemies and the environment around you. I have 1 of every armor in my loot box and have never really hurt for money except at the very beginning of the game.
