A last addition. SMWX, I found your critique of Lesufi interesting. The local government elections of 2026, will surely be based on service delivery, and if Lesufi is trying to take over the ANC, he needs the Gauteng vote, which will be based on water, electricity, roads & sewerage, housing, and jobs.
Nothing will ever change the the people of KZN we have made our minds we have found our political home MK party. ANC must just forget about KZN. Maybe they can try W.C not KZN.

Pres Mbeki's story is one of tragedy...he is the hero that swims against the current and fails. Today we see the disloyal people who called themselves loyal comrades, have left/ran away to serve their own agendas... the same agendas they served in the anc ‐which was looting and undermining laws of this nation. These are the same individuals that kicked honorable members out, like Mbeki. It's unfortunate that today, young south Africans don't look at people like him with admiration and have all these negative things to say(like he is a hypocrite, etc). But will rally around people like Zuma, whose works we saw and know he presided over the complete destruction of this country and walked away with a compound worthy of a African despot and the cherry on top, a political party set on further destroying and bringing about corruption of our institutions
I think these veterans/former leaders leaving the party will be more of a statement than an act of changing the ANC. It would make a big blow though in terms of optics and support from the people.
Mbeki did not support Jacob zuma on his new quest to save the ANC he was bold enough to make a move, why didn't he support him and instant he was was supporting the ANC of Ramaphosa onlynti flip just a few months after the electios😂
Mbeki is just one of those old comrades who have the files on everybody's dirty laundry inside the ANC but are too afraid to air it out because his "legacy" as a Statesman matters more to them than justice and accountability.

Well dr Mpofu, in your talk with Zuma you failed to ask him why he didn't want to let Ramaphisa be elected. Here you have to ask similar questions: who refused to roll out antiretrovirals. Who accused Ramaphisa, Sexwale and Phosa of ridiculous plots? Who tried to destroy ANC by helping form COPE? In your analysis, has Mbeki supported any of his successors after leaving office? For me this is a bitter man. A man full of himself who thinks his voice and opinions are still those of a President. He forgets he's an ordinary man now. He no longer has power and his opinions are just that. Opinions.
Politics is a complex subject, political parties are not just a collection of individuals but an expression of social interests. All I'm saying is you don't seem like you grasp this, judging from your comment. Do something else, watch soapies or play with your kids...
The corruption within the ANC is long going and not new. As a non-member,I struggle to understand why ANC members, even Zuma, struggle to leave the ANC. Mr. Zuma decided to take with him, part of its identity on his departure. So there is definitely a big psychological connection, and so as an outsider, I would question if an unbiased review / revamp would be possible. SA has not found a clear vision it can combine on. It is very clear what we DON'T want, but who and what do we want?
Mbeki introduced Scorpions and prosecuted criminals. Zuma ANC decided to squash that judiciary capability, for what reasons? In order to steal. Mbeki is the right person to talk about this issue. @@mkhumbuzibiko5706Agreed ‼️💯
MR Mbeki his leadership is questionable. I lose lot of friends due to HIV and aids during his term. He refuse instruction from WHO and tell as to eat onions. He can't help ANC
He must be so disappointed, in terms of what he fought for so hard....
he fought to get one version of SA. Zuma + friends fought for a different form, the ones who got rich from the struggle got exactly what they wanted
Thabo Mbeki is often regarded as one of the most intellectual and strategic leaders in African politics. His vision for an African Renaissance and focus on economic diplomacy marked him as a key statesman in shaping south Africa
Took a hiatus from SMWX but it’s good to be back as a regular consumer. Ur analysis is still amazing Dr. Walsh, thanx ma brother.
In the next video, you should try to get DJ Sbu as your guest so that he can train you on how to make an apology when you are wrong. You can publicly support the identity theft of an innocent South African and call patriotic South Africans names and when you find out you were in the wrong you remain mum like nothing happened.
Suka la wena with your anger issues
@@Godswillmpofu Feel free to provide input when there is actually someone who was talking to you. As for now, sit down kid.
dear smwx you are talking a lot but say nothing of interest
Great content 👌
A last addition. SMWX, I found your critique of Lesufi interesting. The local government elections of 2026, will surely be based on service delivery, and if Lesufi is trying to take over the ANC, he needs the Gauteng vote, which will be based on water, electricity, roads & sewerage, housing, and jobs.
Nothing will ever change the the people of KZN we have made our minds we have found our political home MK party. ANC must just forget about KZN. Maybe they can try W.C not KZN.
Mbeki for the win imo
Lesufi as ANC leader is a terrible idea, remains to be seen what kind of support he has outside of Gauteng. The guy is a race merchant after all with so many instances of this during his stint as the MEC of Education, is obviously trying to limit access to info with this farce of a coalition, cannot comprehend what proportional representation actually means, and clearly has allegations of corruption to answer for with the school decontamination scandal.
Thabo Mbeki is now 82, and will be 85 by the time the 2027 elective conference comes around, hopefully he is there to see what goes on. One guy I do have a lot of respect for is Moeletsi Mbeki, now there is a voice of reason to listen to.
Panyaza far better than Stehussuin😂
@@Kush-Kemet there's no Stehussuin in SA politics 🤷🏼♂️
@@dorrienvenables3057That matriculant leading DA🤣, by the way I careless about his correct name
@@Kush-Kemet All that Lesufi seems to be competent at, is losing support for the ANC in Gauteng. How would he be a better party leader than the current DA leader?
@@dorrienvenables3057DA has been stagnant to began with, it's been hovering around 20% since Mmusi, Not Stenhuisen making, I don't expect anything from a matriculant... and very soon he's going loose Tshwane...
Arg please man. We've heard it all before. Being the "quality" elder of the party which he clearly assumes himself to be I'd advice that he look closely at the writing on the wall. The ANC is being true to itself. Can't stand the heat? Find a different kitchen. Thanks
mbeki is only back for one mission just to make sure that Zuma doesn’t rule the country ever again…if mbeki didn’t come back zuma would be ruling this country again🤞🏽🤞🏽Ramaphosa is to weak for Zuma in terms of support.
I grow up in the Apartheid years and it was not easy to express your views that years, so for a man that fought that hard-to-get freedom for Black/Indian/Colored people it must be a major disappointment!!
Very off topic but please do an episode on China-South Africa relations given that we sent the GNU to Beijing for the recent FOCAC.
MBHEKI Is a leader who doesn't have a backbone because he goes with what suits him at the time, we don't know really his stance not long ago he was rallying for the ANC but now he sings a different tune
Ironic how Lesufi, the premier of the wealthiest province which presided over the worst ANC provincial performance outside of the of the Western Cape and KZN wants to now present himself as the dominant force...
Zuma washo anangamkholwa nangu no gigaba eseshilo ku meeting ye anc that money was involved in nazaraak and the media did not published gigaba s speech
I really find Mbekis rants as a ship that has lost its cardinal points, he is envying the successes of Jacob Zuma; and the exploits towards the ANC should no one step foward to stop JZ
Mbeki is a coward and flip flops he said " l wont campaign for the ANC led by criminals" but he did campaign. 😂😂
Thabo Mbeki thinks he is popular in the community but he is cheating himself waar was hy all these years when Zuma was still the president
The truth is that the ANC was not standing for black child they are just blush of out serving the master
The former president is correct about renewal of the party there is big gap between leadership and membership The president cannot make decision even those vested to him by the constitution he must consult indecisive structure that will pushback saying he must decide eg Simelane issue no one want to decide this is the president prerogative but he is not going to make decision anytime ,the quality of the member also is a problem as the characters are not that is required easy to belong to factions where money is used and result in destroying the party corruption has neutralized robust engagements
You have a point, but you don't use punctuations!
Thabo gets his orders directly from London !!
Opinions.
You can't Renu something that is rotten thru and thru
How do addicts and serial offenders change. Let alone renew? 😂
Politics is a complex subject, political parties are not just a collection of individuals but an expression of social interests. All I'm saying is you don't seem like you grasp this, judging from your comment. Do something else, watch soapies or play with your kids...
Thabo Mbeki is blowing a lot of hot air. Zanele Mbeki is a billionaire and their wealth is under threat.
I stopped listened to Mike long time ago, he's a flip flopper who does not know where his stand.
Insightful. Invite Mbeki for indepth interview
Mbeki introduced Scorpions and prosecuted criminals. Zuma ANC decided to squash that judiciary capability, for what reasons? In order to steal. Mbeki is the right person to talk about this issue. Interestingly, in the GNU, there's no idea being put forth to re-instate Scorpions, why? Because everyone in the GNU are in for themselves, nothing else.
Thank you for another interesting topic.
True Sizwe, former Pres Mbeki has not explained why after he refused to campaign for the ANC at one point,he now resurrects the renewal project even after a dismal performance at the recent national election
Mbeki is a foreigner Sympathizer legal or illegal
LUSUFI is gearing up to be deputy at least
