I’ve worked for 4 years at a beauty store and so many customers would ask for gel polish that doesn’t need a lamp.. Had to explain every time it was still regular nail polish and they would never believe me because of that Chanel top coat.. (and some other brands that also call it a gel coat without it being gel) 🙃
Yeah. And it sucks. And the worst paet is that these "gel" polishes are often no more grippy than other polishes and chip off just as easily. I got tired of doing my own nails and yesterday just did them at a salon with a gel polish, hope it lasts
Simply: It goes all the way to the edge of the cuticle, which no one does, no one actually paints that way Me, who has yet to master not flooding my cuticle: UMMMM
Also, Dior and Chanel have exact matching shades of nail polish to their lipstick shades. As someone who regularly wears pirate and 999, this is incredibly satisfying. Could I find this somewhere else? Yes, but I like the packaging and save more just getting it than I would taking the time to figuring it out otherwise.
I used to buy Maybelline clear polish with UV reactive components two decades ago or three, and it was cheap and long-lasting. I doubt Maybelline was the first one to do it. Many brands today has the same type of product, -the question is only if the dior one is one of the best long-lasting polishes or if it's just 100% the name that makes people prefer it over other ones.- Apparently the old Dior Nail glow had a pinker glow unlike the more purple glow that's common for these, and that pinker glow is what the fans were in love with.
I was gonna say this. That nude would look like I have no nails on my fingers because it's the same shade as my skin color, but it would look amazing for people with darker skin tones or paler skin tones.
Except that you can get the same color way cheaper, and big brands shouldn't be promoted unless they actually do something major and good. Just bringing out a brown color and asking 44 bucks for it is ridiculous.
I think she might've said that more so because most people think of brown polishes as a deeper colour tone for their nails when those colours are actually nudes for others. Also calling it crap... 😬 One thing is not liking it, another is thinking it looks like poo.@@HoloShaii
I love that second “boring old lady” color. It’s such a nice neutral. Also most people using these expensive polishes are likely not painting their own nails. It’s more likely they have them at salons in bougie areas or people with that kind of money to spend buy them (because of the name and not the quality) and take them to the salon.
I disagree. I use Dior nail polishes and I’m honestly considering transitioning to only a few good nail polish brands that will last me years. The Dior polishes I have are 15 years old and still PERFECT inside the bottle. They last forever on the nail too compared to other brands. I’m starting to realize that nail polish is plastic. Buying cheaper brands means throwing them out more often. More landfill material or pollutant. So buying a few staple colours in a brand that will last is my personal preference at this point.

My nails got severely damaged by (edit: A SPECIFIC BRAND of) gel nail polish so I’ve had to switch back to regular polish until my nails grow back. I purchased your polishes because I trust that its gonna be a best quality and created with us followers in mind ❤
Gel doesn't damage your nails. Removing it improperly damages your nails. It's always the removal and not the product itself. I'm a nail tech, and I always wear gel because it's long-lasting, adds extra strength to the nail, and is shinier.
@@kenziehurlocksame, i wear gel polish 24/7 to keep my nails from breaking and also coz it’s pretty and my nails are not damaged at all, it’s the removal that damages the nail if not done properly

@evelinaz1548 what I recommend is filing off the top coat and some of the color and then use mini mani moo gel no more. It's sold at Sallys and their own website. That's what I do and it doesn't damage the nails. Never force gel off or peel it.
People please don't call darker brown colours as poo or boring old lady etc. Those are nude shades for people of colour. As a brown person these are the colours that suit me or are closer to my skin tone.
It’s nail polish colors. Why do you take it so personal? It has nothing to do with the color of your skin. I for one did not take it as an attack on me personally.
The reason gel nail polish comes in an opaque bottle is not because of the lamp. It’s because it would cure in the bottle over time from being exposed to UV light in natural sunlight like from a window.
The fact holo brand polishes are prettier, cheaper, better packaging, better glitters and finishes just shows that people who overspend on designer polish that just chips and washes off eventually is wild to me.

If you used _Passion_ 20 years ago, you know what I mean.
It certainly looks better (except for Nail Glow! lol) than the high brands you have tried before that have a short career in the cosmetics industry. In any case, it's too expensive for me to aqquire them, so thank you for showing this!
I dont know if this applies to chanel nail polishes anymore, but i have one that my mum passed down to me and is about ten years old now, its genuinely almost like new still despite its age which is a great aspect that obviously this video wouldnt be able to adress
I find these stream kinds funny. "I want to know what the experience is of a rich person who dropped $200 on a Chanel nail polish". Mmmm I am a HoloTaco Royalty member, so apparently I keep dropping $500 a year on nail polish, and I can assure you I am not actually rich (probably because I buy too much nail polish)
This isn't for rich people. Rich people aren't painting their own nails. This is for people who can't afford a Chanel bag or a Dior jacket to feel like they're getting a taste of luxury.
Other than your polish…the only other brand I love is YSL polish. But I think it’s being discontinued …I don’t know why it’s very good. Yours is still the best though❤
I didnt get to watch much of the stream because i was sickly and distracted, but watching fhe highlight now, it doesn't look bad, but the luxury tag doesnt make it worth it. My mum exclusively wears a dark purple mauveish colour of either dior or chanel (as in she has both) nail polish. She has 7 bottles on a shelf that are all pretty much the same colour and its been like that my whole life. Might have to send her this video hahaha
I would wear all these fancy colors! (I wouldn't pay for them though). I get excited every time new colors get released. I do have a few Holo Taco polishes in my collection! But, loving how a polish looks on screen, for me, is very different from loving how a polish looks on me. I am very particular about my style, and I honestly think these more "boring old lady" colors match my personal aesthetic more than the bright loud holo taco colors. I also use gels (real UV gels) because I'm too impatient to wait for drying time, and too messy to not have redos.
@@kenziehurlock hi! what's proper removal? I have a magnetic gel polish that i want to use but never do because I'm scared to screw my nails up with removal, and wearing peel off base coat makes them pop off too quickly
@@evelinaz1548put your peel off base coat only at the center of your nail, that way it will stay. some gel products can be soaked off, but some people say too much soaking makes their nails weak. i file my gel off with a hand file. if there's no lifting it's okay to leave a thin layer of gel base on your nail so that you never file your natural nail, but if there is lifting then lifted product should be removed. look up nailmartusa and nailcou here on youtube for a clearer explanation
@evelinaz1548 what I recommend is filing off the top coat and some of the color and then use mini mani moo gel no more. It's sold at Sallys and their own website. That's what I do and it doesn't damage the nails. Never force gel off or peel it.
I obviously don't have Chanel Clair de Lune but that's genuinely the only one I would buy if I had the money.
I gasped when I saw the other hand, you wouldn’t have caught simply DEAD wearing that color back in the day, other hand or not
People please don't call darker brown colours as poo or boring old lady etc. Those are nude shades for people of colour. As a brown person these are the colours that suit me or are closer to my skin tone.
That’s what I was thinking. Brown colors don’t suit me very much, but they look gorgeous on people with darker skin!
yes x100 I love browns on my skin tone!
It’s nail polish colors. Why do you take it so personal? It has nothing to do with the color of your skin.
I for one did not take it as an attack on me personally.
Smh not everything has to be about r4ce
it always makes me salty when people say they don’t like brown shades cause dark brown is one of my favorite colors of all time😫
That dior nail glow😂 it's just like nail tint. Nail tint is worth less than a dollar with that same amount XD
I live vicariously though your polish reviews. Thanks for another. Throw back to simply nailogical days! .
The reason gel nail polish comes in an opaque bottle is not because of the lamp. It’s because it would cure in the bottle over time from being exposed to UV light in natural sunlight like from a window.
Today was pretty rough, thanks for the laughs 💖
Brown colored nail polish is elegant af! Love to rock it!
The deeper chocolate color looks amazing on you ❤ Too bad the color Inspiration is discontinued. I really want that color.
The fact holo brand polishes are prettier, cheaper, better packaging, better glitters and finishes just shows that people who overspend on designer polish that just chips and washes off eventually is wild to me.
I really liked the Chanel nail polishes because their formula is good. I bought them for $20 and that was back in 2007. But I agree with Christine on the brush and the handle though.
It makes me so happy every time you post
people roasting those colours then the holo taco autumn collection dropped 😬😅 oops
lmaoooo
I think a fun game for cristine would be guessing which is the designer nail polish vs holo taco
I LOVE that beige nude shade!! 😍
absolutely love the green nails and ring combo. Top tier!
I like blush nude colors 😅 they make your hand look soooo clean. But I also have my nails painted baby blue right now
I also looove brown nail polish 😭 special a nice deep dark brown like dark chocolate. I’ve been looking for one for YEARS. OPI used to have one in the 2010s
I’m team channel I guess haha
the dior topper was bomb tho, looks exactly like a black opal wich is beautiful to me
I love chocolate brown polish or a dark brown red. Like cherry cola color
Ngl the dior top coat is the best top coat i've ever used (dont tell me anything about holo taco they dont ship where i live)
I didnt know it was 40$ until i got to the checkout tho😭 sephora employee did me dirty
I do really like the Dior cosmic topper, but you’re right it can probably be executed with two other toppers at a significantly lower cost
Man some people in the chat need to chill, the company isn't going to get it's feelings hurt, but some random person who doesn't even wear Chanel and just likes those colors is going to hear "Karen colors", "it's giving old lady", and "eww it's so ugly" and feel bad about it, some people love neutrals, classic reds, and creme polishes, some people do like Chanel just as much as y'all like Holo Taco, hating on things just because they aren't for you isn't a good look no matter how much glitter and holo is on your nails
Yeah they really don't need to be so aggro over it. Plus all the pale ppl calling brown ugly and poop colored completely ignoring that brown ppl exist. 😐
People are gonna have their opinions no matter what you can’t change that.
@@pinkversace187it’s ok to have opinions, but shitting on someone else’s is not ok. You can dislike something without putting down others who do like it.
Thank you!! also found it kind of funny how people were clowning on the polishes but after cristine said she liked it, all of a sudden people were like so pretty! 😂😂
1 year late here but I just discovered that Cristine didn’t quit and am watching all her livestreams. Her chat feels a bit mean girls sometimes. I much prefer the YT comments
Does anyone remember when Chanel had matching 💄and 💅🏼in the most amazing texture and colors? The _Hydrabase_ lipstick was overpriced but decent quality. It' s ALL gone: _Dragon, Lotus Rouge, Barcelona Red, Flamme Rose..._ Now it' s a carrousel of discontinued shades and watery _Rouge Allure_ that wouldn' t pass a blind testing. If you used _Passion_ 20 years ago, you know what I mean.
I don’t like pure brown but with a little orange in it I love it. Like a burnt orange
The dior top coat is actually pretty good >.< not me getting sucked into the Dior
Love love love Chanel nail polish. It lasts the longest on my nails. I've used Chanel cosmetics and perfumes for years and it's all I use.
The Chanel color palette gives class
I love the brown one truly it’s beautiful
This gives such autumn vibes ❤
This isn't for rich people. Rich people aren't painting their own nails. This is for people who can't afford a Chanel bag or a Dior jacket to feel like they're getting a taste of luxury.
I love neutral colors, they're the best looking on me
Other than your polish…the only other brand I love is YSL polish. But I think it’s being discontinued …I don’t know why it’s very good. Yours is still the best though❤
I love these reviews. No brand can even compare to HoloTaco.
Okay simply I see that Swarovski ring!!
i think as a set the chanel colors are old lady vibes but paired with the right colors (like that green) they could look good.
The kitty cam is so important, thank you
I didnt get to watch much of the stream because i was sickly and distracted, but watching fhe highlight now, it doesn't look bad, but the luxury tag doesnt make it worth it. If it were moderately priced, id like it. The luxury tag and model of polish it seems to repeatedly use dooesnt make it worth fhe price fo want. But then again, i own almost 100 polishes
The Cosmic Dior nail polish is actually so pretty, I own it and it is very cute
I need a good brown polish for my rotation. Love it in autumn.
My mom likes Dior Nail Glow, she does 4-5 coats to make it a candy like pink tint that reminds her of those translucent lollies.
i love the Dior nail glow! i have no idea why it didn't show up on your nail. normally its like a soft pink glow
watching this to wind down before my first class tomorrow!
I love your braid curls! You've never looked better girl 😅
My mum exclusively wears a dark purple mauveish colour of either dior or chanel (as in she has both) nail polish. She has 7 bottles on a shelf that are all pretty much the same colour and its been like that my whole life. Might have to send her this video hahaha
Cristine! Would you try Dazzle Dry? I used to work at a salon and the polish dries in 5 minutes. 😁
I would wear all these fancy colors! (I wouldn't pay for them though). Simply, I have been a fan since the eating polish cake days, since before Beyyyyn even showed his face days, and I am so in love with your polish line. Big fan of the Holo Taco brand and style, but would personally buy more neutral shades and colors for myself.
I share the same sentiment. I love colors on other people, but personally, I just use neutrals and reds.
I got some Chanel polishes as a gift, and I actually really like their formula
Lovely, more crazy and unhinged purchases!!!! 😂❤
okay i can't lie i absolutely love the cosmic topper
I love browns and neutral colors 😅😅 even if they are sparkly
For some people the tan and brown colors would be nudes.
i love a true brown especially as a french tip!!!
Watching Cristine at 4:05 talking about no flooding the cuticle and thinking about how folks here in Brazil do nails 😂
If you haven't seen it, I recommend
But are those emeralds on that ring? That’s fancy.
Cristine is out here spending money so we don't have to
I think that durability of the polish is important too, like a ¢50 and $5 polish there’s a big difference
Yes durability in and out of the bottle. I have bottles of Dior that are years old and they don’t get gloopy or dry out. They stay perfect compared to cheaper brands.
On the nails, I find Dior polish way more durable too.
That said I’ve never bought them for myself 😅 they’ve always been gifts.
@@citrinette Agreed! I have a few that lasted me at least a decade! They are still perfect!
@@tsukikaze7777 yes I think my oldest bottle of Dior is 15 years old. It’s exactly like the first day still. Not sure how that works but it’s pretty incredible. The only other brand that has lasted me as long is Sally Hansen
@@citrinette there's incredible quality in Dior products, such as their perfume and cosmetics. I have a small bottle of Dior fragrance that is at least 15 years old, used up to the last quarter of the bottle and it still smells perfect! I wish Chanel stepped up their game in this aspect, not smell old after 3 years untouched or barely used to the point I have to get a new bottle because it smelled old and unwearable.
The only nail polish I can justify buying is yours honestly. The last nail polish I tried bit a different company got so gloopy even though the cap was on and tight & it became unusable 😭
Get some nail polish thinner. It's sold at Sally's.
As much as I hate how expensive the polishes are, I actually did like the Chanel polishes. I’ll never buy them because I have holo taco which is beautiful and less than half the price.
The nail glow is ridiculous price and doesn't do much BUTT as somone that cant wear colored nail polish it's the little extra pizazz that makes the natural nail look more alive. I've tried to do the same with the holo Taco Base coat, but the blue undertoan just excentuates the corpse hand look I get in the winter
But that's just me 😊
Tbh many of the Chanel polishes I have encountered are high quality and complex colors that are hard to dupe.
you need to make a skin-color collection with 5-6 different complexion! call it "send nudes" and name the polishes like "oatmean, peanut butter, cappuccino, chocolate" etc. istg I'd buy the whole collection!
That'd be hilarious. Google would definitely block the ads for that collection 😂
oatmean made me laugh haha. does kinda sound like a HoloTaco nail polish name just from like an alternate dimension. oatMEAN >:(
I feel like this has already been done(except not with the food names)
She didn't buy Chanel Vamp :( That's the iconic color!!
Early!!! Been here since middle school seventh grade. Just graduated HS you’re amazing!
Love both of those gold, plus cosmic n the blush-brown
modest moss is TO DIE FORRRR
Ohhh your other hand colour is gorgeous❤
