PART 3 IS NOW UP - ua-cam.com/video/vH258VPS2yE/v-deo.html
This is really fun. Thanks for sharing the whole process, as it happens, mistakes/discoveries and all. Bless you and your family!
Wow great job and awesome job on taking care of small issues as they came up. Good problem solving.
Loved the concrete chute you built.
Also waiting for part 3. I can't wait to see the roof! Thanks
Part three will be up in morning.... then I'll work on the roof
Moving along. I’m really digging this project. Looking forward to step 3.
The ICF works great for this application we just did one as well
I'll get part three out eventually!
Papa Pepper where is part 3?
That box...good idea !
That is super nice!
Shalom brother. Enjoying this and part 3.
Cool! Thanks for checking it out!
Don't forget water proof the out side walls. Roofing tar and rubber membrain for roofing it will hold the walls together with a 6 inch crack in it.
Great work anyway men
I searched all your videos for part 3 havnt found it. When will you make the next chapter?
I was waiting for the cold and the rain to stop first. Hopefully we can finish this thing in the next month or two.
Papa Pepper awesome I was so into this build. Most intrigued UA-cam vid I’ve seen in a while
Put in a fireman's pole and a spring board at the bottom. : )
This was a scary one to me, I fell on a piece of rebar one time and it drove into my knee 5 inches. Not good!
Were you able to finish the project? Would love to see an update.
Unfortunately, finances, availability, weather and help have not lined up, but we hope to complete it soon....
Any update? Would love to see more of this even the condition of it after winterizing
I might be able to do that. We have not progressed with anything, but I could show how it's weathered over the past year without more effort being put into it.
Just poured the floor. Video coming next, editing now
What are the walls sitting on? I didn't see any footings. Not an expert here but couldn't it sink into the soil over time without footings to carry the weight?
It's mostly rock and clay here, so it's rather firm anyway, but when we pour the floor we'll tie the whole thing together. Once things warm up and stop raining, we should finish it off.
where do u get ifc cheaply?
Did you brace any of the walls?
I didn't see you use a viberator in the walls to get the air bubbles out. thats a huge oversite.
We did. Didn't record everything, but we used one. Thanks!
Did you forget the footing to support the weight of the wall and roof?
It's pretty much built on rock. Most of the "soil" here is a giant rock shelf with clay mixed in....
Awesome
Just saw the box pics thanks
Yup, it was simple, but worked well!
What was the cost per square foot? This seems like a better option than prefab steel bunkers.
Cool....
I saw a video on aircrete and thought about doing a root cellar made with aircrete which should give you all the insulation you need and have the strength you need. I thought I could take a split a/c unit and put the coils in the cellar and run the unit above ground off of solar panels and it could be kept cold like a deep freeze for long term storage. Could use an electric scissor jack to elevate you up and down the thing so you save space over having stairs or using a ladder to try to climb while holding stuff. Or do the staircase made of boxes with drawers to hold goods so the space of a staircase isn't total wasted space.
Did u make one can u give me more information about it
@@celiacastro4566 Haven't made one yet. I have to wait until next year when I build my new home. This location is in a floodplain so I won't try it here.
Interesting. Where’s the floor and roof builds?
Just poured the floor... editing video now. It'll be the next one up!
Nice job any pics of the shoot you made for concrete
ICFs are great but this is not the way to use them, I will summarize. There needs to be footings, 4" of concrete is too little for backfill pressures or a concrete roof. ICFs should have more bracing. Concrete should be poured in lifts of 4-5'. They are courses, not layers of ICFs. There is more, but those are important.
what about drainage?
Lesson learned about the sides. That way if one decided to build one they would know.
5 foot drop rule? need trimmy or pump truck, dont worry just rule it will work no mater what
All that icf ain’t cheap loving the build tho. What’s the benefits of that icf anyways?
ICF bennifits, 1 person can form it up in a day, No forms to rent or dispose of, no back framing, Already insulated inside and out, No rebar tying(rebar sits in clips), wall panels(drywall or plywood) can be screwed to the tabs. Its a brilliant system, yes more expensive up front but long term costs even out.
When part 3?
Spring. shut it down for the freezing and really wet portions of the year. Should be back to finish it as the weather warms and things dry up.
@@PapaPepper okay cool thanks for reply
@@caterpillarford3988 Okay, part three in the morning!!!
what state are you in?
@ 2:50 :)
Why not leave the bottom dirt?
Interesting, hadn't thought of that...
@@PapaPepper how much was the fox blocks and the concrete do u have an email I can know or can u wrote it here
Idk how to check if someone msg on a post

Go video
Part three must have been a bust.
Actually, I have yet to complete it... not ideal, but finances, availability, weather and help just haven't lined up in the past year.

Your moving around so much with camera makes it hard to watch video.
Can you try to slow that down please.
Want to watch your work but getting dizzy and I’m sure others would appreciate it also.
Don’t like criticism of folks that take time to record but feel sure it would be to your advantage.
Thanks for that input. Noted.
Wow great job and awesome job on taking care of small issues as they came up. Good problem solving.
