I love seeing abandoned places that aren’t covered in graffiti and trash
Me too but y’know it is Disney not the regular world
They are dreading the park right now as it shows on google maps. Everything is wipe out and looks likes it’s bare sand. It’s going to be a water park again by the looks of the bundles of blue pipe laying all over again.
@@ClaytonHartin they’re changing it into a lodge I’m pretty sure
It’s bc it’s highly illegal
@@jack_2028 well people do it anyway
Dude, you're giving me heart palpitations when I see you climbing on a rotten, old slide! Stay safe!
ジジ Army and Disney/exploring fan heyyyyy
Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FR THOUGH
That water and those big over grown structures make me soooo uncomfortable. When you stepped on that mattress looking thing my stomach dropped. I wouldn't even be that close to that water.
Courkey when did he step on the mattress?
@Weaver Cabral ya what is that?

Kurt Ramos I usually put more skills on Lockpick as Speech.
He's as fast as Dash, and no one sees him since he can run so fast!
DJ Weaver Cabral It's a lifeguard training dummy.
@Weaver Cabral Where?
@@RedPillDosage at 2:09 behind the building
Incredible footage. You've set the bar higher for Disney urban explorers since I don't think you left a single area of the park unexplored!
Weaver Cabral pretty sure it’s just a mannequin
I questioned the same thing
I felt very uncomfortable seeing you walk through that tall grass a bit. Especially since you’ve spotted a baby alligator. Anyways, awesome video!
Ahh, River Country. I actually explored this during one of my shifts. I was stationed right next to it while there was a private event going on at Wilderness. I was like, literally next to the fence, and I was in a pretty pointless position. So I hopped it, being a born-and-raised Disney kid and knowing the significance of the site. Didn't get very far, but It was fun while it lasted. It disappoints me when Disney is lazy and careless, and lets projects like these rot away instead of addressing them responsibly. As always, I think this sort of exposure is good for bringing down Disney's ego, which is necessary every now and then (or often these days I find). If more people point out these negative practices it'll hopefully get their asses in gear to doing the right thing.
Yeah! actually where Matt hops out of the park where the golf cart was at the end of the video is where I started from.
They can’t risk having river country under the public eye again.
And the right thing is?
A kid died because of the brain eating amoeba
Summer of 1977 - It has changed quite a bit since then. Absolutely astonishing video. Great work and thank you for taking the time to explore and bringing many childhood memories flashing through my mind. Experiencing what this park offered for so many including myself, It was the pioneer of an era and true giant of a "water park" as we now know today. The reflections of memories that will always haunt my mind.
Thank you for the reoccurrence.
Weaver Cabral ITS. A. DUMMY.
@Weaver Cabral man u were on a role 2 years ago huh lol
You deserve an award. You are the only person who can say you've been on a River Country slide since 2001.
Tommy Holland not true a few girls were on it back in the late 2000s
james shinault yeah their youtube is Vics vlogs
Adam the woo been there also
Weaver Cabral oh shit your not lyin
It's not a dead body. They already told you Weaver it's a 'Life Guard Training Dummy' listen fucker!
I always find that high pitched horn sound that always goes off really freaky!! Ads great ambiance to the video! Lol
its prob a boat or the monorail
When i was first learning about river country i didnt know there was a ferry at disney i guess i forgot when i was there in 2006 but i thought it was a alarm going off lol
Joseph Parodi it’s most likely a boat
Didn't music start playing in the past

The sound of your footsteps actually makes for a satisfying asmr 😂
4:41 - imagine someone out at the Contemporary with binoculars tryna bird watch or something looking out and just seeing Some Guy on top of a rock. And by the time they look back the guy is just Gone.
How the hell did a mattress get up there? Wonder if they have homeless people sleeping there?
Thats where i sleep. Get out of my room.
@Jason Magdaleno 😂😂🤣🤣
Wow I was concerned you would get hurt or bit by somethings. If you saw a baby gator I'm sure mama was near by.
where the babies?
Not how alligators work, the mom just leaves them to fend for themselves
I can't believe you went on the slide. 🙈
Rip river country, its gone now 😢
No lines? That's awesome
Wow, it's beautiful. I remember my day at this park, way back in 1982, as the most fun of our entire Disney vacation. I think I like it even better this way.
if i could pick a handful of people to go back and enjoy just one day at river country in its glory days, that would be a dream come true! @BrightSunFilms
Your lucky to be alive
Awesome video but one word of caution, Disney routinely monitors youtube for this kind of stuff
k re yeah. There was a guy who did a night video in depth and even caught an alligator on it but it's gone now.
Disney and Universal tend to be really strict when it comes to videos containing places they've abandoned. Adam The Woo, a popular vlogger and former urban explorer, was trespassed by both after posting contend that they found unsavory.
Dude!! You're crazy and amazing and I'm totally living vicariously through you right now! This video is awesome and the exact kind of exploring I like doing. I gotta say this for Disney: They use the best of the best when they build. That cave had support beams that have held up strong over the years and even some of that wood still looked to be in somewhat decent condition.
Impressed you actually went on the slides
I talked to a cast member at Fort Wilderness, and he said they've been discussing about possibly beginning work on the DVC hotel that was planned to replace it in 2014
This was so lovely to watch 😍..... My obsession with River Country runs deep!...
It was so nice to see parts of RC that haven't been shown in a very long time....
StitchWitchDolls there's a facebook group of old river county and discovery island workers. If you are investigating , that is the perfect place to start
I will have to check that out
Sweet River Country footage. I'd kinda be freaked out about busting through the slides or something xD. So sad they filled in the pool in. Not like anything was gonna come of it but still sad.
Disneys Jumanji themed area is amazing..
xD
You should have a million subs
21:34 I would have shit bricks if I saw someone sitting in that cart 😂
I did and it was empty 🤣
Wow. I went to River Country quite a few times as a kid back in the 70's. This video definitely triggered some dormant memories. The park was centered around a large "lagoon" that had a wide beach on one side (that big grassy area you see briefly starting at 15:18 was the beach). This main lagoon is the body of water that Matt spends most of the video spelunking around. The wooden structures sticking out of this lagoon were both lifeguard stations and also landing points for a zipline that you could take. The large outcropping of rocks that he crawls around for most of the video is where most of the water slides/flumes were located (there were 2 or 3 as I recall). I guess it's a testament to Disney construction quality if you can still walk down the flume without falling through. Definitely remember standing in those lines, particularly the area where you can see people pass below you on the flume. Near the end of the video (starting at around 19:35), Matt comes across a big dirt area with a significant rock outcropping -- it has 2 "free drop" slides coming off the top of it. Definitely remember that (and my mom screaming her head off when my dad finally convinced her to try it). That whole dirt area was another smaller lagoon, which they obviously filled in. You can see several steel ladders still sticking out of the dirt! Thanks, Matt.
Yeah, i'm surprised you don't have more subscribers/views. Awesome but stay safe!
Weird how abandoned it is yet it's still just straight up connected to the park. He went right in there
Its almost hilarious how easy it used to be for explorers to sneak in there. When you see videos from now, they have it on complete lockdown
If you pause at exactly 2:08 there's something there that looks like a body
Emily it’s the worker he choked out to not get caught
It’s probably a training dummy lifeguards use
It’s that kid who drowned
I saw that! It looks to real to be fake. Super creepy!!!
Where did you get in? And this video is utterly amazing. You deserve more than 150 subs!
For Sale Disney's River Country
I was there 1998 it was so amazing it was all pirate-themed and it was like a tropical island
Great video. This must be the definitive vid of what River Country looks like now. You have balls of steel for walking on that water slide.
Every time he turned round I kept expecting to see someone behind him.
Dude I love that u take us to places that our curious imagations could not recreate keep up the good work
You walked down those old fiberglass slides? Damn! You, sir, have balls of fuckin' steel!
Damn, you walking on the slides gave me so much anxiety
Pause the video at 2:10. Tell me what you see.
StraightUpCynical lmao wtf
StraightUpCynical Omg a dead body
Hey kids, wanna see a dead body?
It's an old test dummy they used to put down slides to test them. You can see the joints in the knee and the way the feet are turned around is a dead giveaway.
It's a vat! Disney uses fake bodies to test their lifeguards attention.
It’s a good thing that someone got footage of this place before they demolished it last year
20:00 that pool area was just recently filled in from Disney being cautious about Zika. It's interesting to see it already having growth in it
i thought it was the lazy river he looked like he was y the water slides its kinda hard to see with all the over growth of vegitation ! great video its neat to see the changes in this. so creepy suprised its still standing of the wood and stuff still.
21:34 I would have shit bricks if someone was just sitting in that cart 😂
I noticed that, figured it was a breeding ground for mosquitos
if you can go to discovery island that would be dope.
Chels Sees Disney they blocked the old dock. its pretty hard to trespass the island without being seen
Dark Exploration Films dang.
Chels Sees Disney its mostly swallowed by vegetation at this point anyway. You can see some artifacts but alot is completely covered
Chels Sees Disney he's done video for discovery island
He had
I really enjoy watching these videos. Keep up the good work! 😃
NOW I KNOW WHERE THAT SOUND CANE FROM THAT LOUD HONK NOISE FROM FNATI RP ROBLOX
🌻Sorry for the typo's, but I was literally feeling the jitters, and couldnt type fast enough to want to get out what i wanted to say, and the baby alligator and then you dared to walk accross that old planky wooden bridge tht again could of just crumbled and the water, same water you just saw the alligator in, my little buddy please be safe your young and daring, along with that comes high risk...be safe kiddo on all your adventures.🌻

@meinfooreliuent7472
Disney ran the park for a long while after that accident. And it wasn't the parks fault either. It was a really rare chance that could happened almost anywhere
If you really don't want disney to know where this video is, find some kind of torrent to share to other people in a P2P connection.
SuperFlashDriver Why would they care?
@@martinsleis3852 because sometimes they feel that these videos encourage more people to do the same, and that as a result items from dead attractions have been stolen in the past
@@tadpolegaming4510yeah so? They abandoned them for a reason. And now they moved on. They won't care about atraction they abandoned 20 years ago
@@martinsleis3852 they don't like stuff getting stolen from dead attractions, they've taken down videos and channels before
Bro, if I've ever seen a legend on UA-cam, that's gotta be you man.
Ngl the whole time you were going down the slide I was like thinking what it would be like to ride a skateboard on it
i see you came from themouselets videos on tik tok too 😂
I wonder why Disney workers care so much about people exploring River Country territory and letting the world know about it it's almost an advertisement for Disney and itself so they should pay you guys royalties LOL
Amazing video of Disney's River Country. Are you planning more videos of River Country?
ugh yes, i love this A LOT

The area where the mattress is was the start of the rapids lazy river type ride. There used to be a waterfall that came over that entrance that you had to pass under.
So happy I subbed so early
This video is AWESOME!!!! You are one brave dude!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
2:35 the most aesthetic part of the park.
Sounds like a car locking noise at 17:21
I was very surpirsed the slide did not collapse due to the enormity of this dudes balls of steel -
the most amazing amount of footage from this I've seen. Nice scenery, good for screenshots for wallpaper. Didn't get to go to this park when it was open but kind of wish I had
Disney watching this like: 👁👄👁
The anxiety I have right now thinking about that water. Especially in Florida.
I’m honestly surprised he didn’t get banned
Can you do more videos of river country what it looks like in 2019
It's_Shadow_Bruh They demolished it
At 20:05 those were my favorite two slides to go down as a kid into the big pool thats now filled in
I've always loved his videos, but my spoiled 2021 self wishes I could travel back in time and bring him a gimbal
@ 2:09 why is there a body on the floor?
they prob also use the area for storage so they just put a mannequin there for now
Sneak lvl 100
This seems so sketch... Did they just straight up build a water park that was connected directly to the Florida swamps with slides that went straight into the river? Seems like nature encroachment/alligator danger would have been a huge issue to deal with all the time.
I believe they attempted to seperate the two body's of water to an extent. i guesse their was a tiny flaw in their system
Yes. It was an awesome park where the slides actually went into the lake. I remember being a bit freaked out as a kid going down one of the slides for the first time into this lake since I grew up in South Florida and always worried about alligators in just about every natural body of water.
Matt, thanks a ton for making these videos! They have brought back a ton of good memories. Be careful out there dude! 👍
17:51 clear EVP capture said "go"
Lol ok.
I'm surprised he doesnt run into wildlife there even poisonous kinda.. Florida wildlife is crazy
Dude, the shaky camera is KILLING Me. You gotta slow down a bit and stabilize !!
otherwise this is BADASS !!

It must have been so cool to walk down that water slide all over ground it was really cool to ride it when it was operational, seeing this brings back so many memories that I would have forgotten.

Patrick Is Ebola river country in disney world orlando is near fort wilderness (the campground). there are ferry boats that take off every 15 min that transport guests from Ft Wilderness to Magic Kingdom. so the noises are the boats lol
