My ISP atm is Virgin Media, can I just set it up without putting the current router into modem mode. (like without using the WAN cable thing), thinking to buy this
This one here is just a "router", so you gotta pass it the internet from the modem. There's a bunch of different internet connections all over the world so its hard for me to say what will work for Virgin Media. They might have some recommended brands for all in one modem/routers (or you could just look at forums for what other people are using for modem/routers on Virgin). If you're ok with running the two boxes then you don't need to check any of that, can just grab a router and do what I've done here. You'll have way more options with just routers, but I understand having it all in one is "simpler" on the bench.
As a result of using it for a month. Internet speed is stable. However, because of the use of the Dual Intel chip, the heat is so intense.
So I made a little space on the bottom of the router so that heat could be discharged smoothly, and I ordered a cooling fan in case I didn't know. There is a warranty, so I'm not worried about it, but I think the heat may cause the router to die. When designing a product, it seems that we don't really care about heat emission.
The problem I have with the AX50 is that in order to use the parental features they force you to install an app. Unlike the Base model AX3000 I could change these settings from the routers interface. Another problem is that they force you to bind the Tether app witch for some reason cuts me speeds from 500mb down to 210mb. Only reason I picked this one us was for the USB3.0 I should have stuck with the base model.

Yeah what speed is your internet plan? It's why I did the apple tv server test to just test local network speeds. Best thing to do is hook up a laptop to the router and do a speedtest directly. Then connect via wifi on a phone next to the router. Keep taking a couple steps back doing speed tests and see where the drop off is. You should be getting some significant increase in range with this router
Fenix Tech I’m paying for 20Mps. After I hooked up the ax3000 I’m getting 20Mps from the router. I did a speed test on my desk top before and after, I did a speed test with my iPad Pro before and after. The router didn’t boost my speed at all.
@@rbosque If you paid for 20mbps, and that's what you're getting, then there's nothing wrong. You're not going to get his speeds unless you have an internet plan similar to his.
Hmmm can't think of much you can do to boost wifi speeds. Just try 2.4 and 5g and see what works best.... a lot of the times in apartments the 2.4 band will be smashed with everyone elses routers.
Without diving into model numbers my general rule of thumb is that anything made in the last 2-3 years is going to be significantly better than what your internet company would provide. TP-Link and Belkin are both good brands so I'd just look at their modern routers that fit your budget, check reviews from amazon and order away. If you absolutely can't get WIFI 6 then I wouldnt worry, it's not even really utilised really yet, maybe a few fringe devices. The reality is that any good Wifi router will probably serve you well for many many years. I just wanted a Wifi 6 because I'm a nerd and am hoping the new playstation/iphones use it... but nothing in my house uses it yet.

J_USB3 is connected to USB 3 in front pannel, can I connect tp-link Archer TX3000E Bluetooth to J_USB1 since F_USB and J_USB both are 9 pins ?
Yeah they are both the same, just USB headers on a motherboard. Some of your headers might be 2.0 or 3.0 so double check you're using the right one for this device.
I plugged this into my att router and it work, but I want to know if I can take off the att router out of the WiFi options so it would only show the new router to able to connect.
Yeah definitely. Once you get the new router up and running, turn the wifi off for the old router. If you have any home smart devices like lights or anything then they'll obviously need to be setup on the new router, but yeah turn the old one off for sure.
Nice vid but let’s say that my internet speed is 60 mbs and that’s what the maximum speed is because that’s what I pay for per month if I buy this router will it still increase the speed to like 200 mbs even though I’m paying for 65mbs
Nah the internet speed you pay for is the theoretical max. The main help here is network speed and wifi range. So it’s going to boost general WI-FI and if you’re streaming files over the network then you’ll see a speed upgrade as well. But general internet is capped at the ISP.
I had to get one using ios to test the PC --> Router --> Apple TV. The app was called "Network Speed Tester". Mobile app was free but the AppleTV one cost a few bucks. You probably don't need it, the network speeds are pretty great without really testing. Checkout the speeds I was getting in the video here. If you want to test PC --> Router --> PC then I'm sure theres a bunch of free speed testers, I just haven't needed to try one.

Where are you based? Something like that seems internet company dependant. A very basic test I would do is turn everything off for 30 seconds, turn it all back on. Ethernet a laptop or desktop to the main router where the internet comes in and test the ping. Thats the closest youre going to get to the source. If the ping is 150 off of that then you'd want to be talking to the ISP. Could be something on the general line to your place (external) or could be some bad wiring (internal). Hopefully the reset helps, and then next step hopefully the net company can do some resetting on their end... if they have to send a technician out that stuff is kinda annoying. Good luck

Yeah from everything I've read up on, the default modem/routers they send out are super average on the router side of things. I guess the average person can deal with it but if you even remotely care about network performance then it's worth upgrading.
The router they give you works fine as a modem, but its got cheap internals for the wifi. It works but it sucks. I bought this second router to use as a wifi/router only. It would be better if the ISP's offered different options for routers, but they're using dinosaur stuff.
A waste of equipment ... you can never use the 160Mhz band, even forcing it to work only at 80Mhz ... very poor equipment and very poor support from Tplink ... their forum is full of complaints and no solutions.
@@fenixtech1342 The advantage is precisely to use the AX network, if you leave this equipment in automatic, they always prefer the longest range instead of the highest speed! Try it on automatic and you will notice that even in AC, you will often be using 20 MHz or 40 MHz instead of 80 MHz!

Now I can scrub through a video file and it's pretty much instant, even on massive files (havent tested 4k too much, but huge 1080 files are totally fine).
@@fenixtech1342 finally I got this ,
As you said temperature is sitting on a stable area
My galaxy s10 wifi6 is giving
700Mbps in 1 feet
500Mbps in 12 feet
Not bad I'd say
@@Ryknex Cant complain about 500megabit
Thanks for the review. :)
Can you link/add a mesh setup (Deco M4/E4 )in this router?
Unfortunately no and it seems that tplink have abandoned this model (probably too hard to develop for). I have this router myself and it's great but for futureproofing I think the AX20 (AX1800) is a much better choice at the moment.
can i just plug it in and it would work or do i need to pay monthy or have an own router
Your videos and editing are excellent. The only thing I feel like that's missing from this video is a little bit of saturation. Also, the top half of the video looks out of focus at the beginning.
Thanks mate, yeah I’m using a manual focus lens that I think is a bit busted. Got a canon 10-18 but waiting for a canon to Fuji adapter to come in the mail. The one I’m filming now is on an old canon eos m cause the Fuji manual focus lens is getting to me
I just hooked mine up but I don’t get the speeds you do. 20mbs / 2mbs. Very anemic. Not sure what I’m doing wrong... help
What speeds are you paying for?
Alphonso that’s what I was thinking. Thanks.
Could I get some help haha I just bought that router today and I’m getting bad wifi speeds I think I’ve done something wrong
Hmmm can't think of much you can do to boost wifi speeds. Just try 2.4 and 5g and see what works best.... a lot of the times in apartments the 2.4 band will be smashed with everyone elses routers.
Τhis router stands alone , or I have to connect it to the router the internet provider gave me ?
yeah its just a router, no modem. I have a separate Modem from the ISP which provides internet to this router.
How fast is the download and upload speeds on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz?
It’s in the video lol
I have a question what if I don't have wifi 6 within the area, Bronx, NY. what other router you recommend.
I have this router and it random disconnects from the internet and won’t be able to access wifi unless I power off and on the router and it works again. It’s happening so frequently. Can anyone help?
tp-link Archer TX3000E says Bluetooth cable should be connected to F_USB on mobo. I have a MSI x570 A-pro mobo, which does not have that F_USB. I do see J_USB1, J_USB2 and J_USB3.
Can I move the router to a different room with my gaming set up and use lan ?
Yeah of course, I’m using LAN to my AppleTV and wifi to the next room with the PS4 and PC
I miss Apple’s AirPort base stations - simple and beautiful design and easy to use. :(
Yeah they were amazing for the time. There's some good looking networking gear around like the Netgear Orbi's.
How much for the archer ax 50 in your country.in Bangladesh its comes for 14,300 BDT
Looking at the video quality I thought you had 100k + subscribers
Thanks mate 🤜🤛. Road to 100k here I come!
But general internet is capped at the ISP.
whats apps are u using for network speed tester
I had to get one using ios to test the PC --> Router --> Apple TV. The app was called "Network Speed Tester". Mobile app was free but the AppleTV one cost a few bucks. You probably don't need it, the network speeds are pretty great without really testing. Checkout the speeds I was getting in the video here.
If you want to test PC --> Router --> PC then I'm sure theres a bunch of free speed testers, I just haven't needed to try one.
Was the overheating issue fixed
Mines been running for close to 2 months and havent had any overheating issues. It's sitting behind the TV in the living room. It's a medium sized room so maybe the ventilation is ok.
I get 50mbs on a 5g with the default routher😞
Can it be used as a modem or just a router?
Its only a router, no modem functions
This router or asus 2900?
Haven’t used the asus
Does this router have vpn client so that I can use my paid vpn subscription vpn servers?
Can someone help me so I had fine internet I got like 25 ping but 4 months ago it went up to 150 but only went up from 7pm to 11pm and It went down to 25 ping at 11pm and I got this router to help but I still get the same results the only thing that went up was my download speed can someone help please?
Good luck
I got a Tplink Archer Ax1500 router it upgrade from my current modem built-in wifi is crap i hate the LTE Modem/Router combination i have BEC 6300NEL Ridgewave R15 LTE modem its built-in wifi is crap so i upgraded my wifi to wifi 6 Next gen wifi
I notice it lower my Ping from 150ms to 69ms which is good
Yeah from everything I've read up on, the default modem/routers they send out are super average on the router side of things. I guess the average person can deal with it but if you even remotely care about network performance then it's worth upgrading.
If you had an ISP router, why didn't the ISP update their router before you had to buy one? I have a cousin in Sidney area! Good day mate!
The router they give you works fine as a modem, but its got cheap internals for the wifi. It works but it sucks. I bought this second router to use as a wifi/router only. It would be better if the ISP's offered different options for routers, but they're using dinosaur stuff.
Does it have a SIM slot?
Nope, just a router
A waste of equipment ... you can never use the 160Mhz band, even forcing it to work only at 80Mhz ... very poor equipment and very poor support from Tplink ... their forum is full of complaints and no solutions.
Hmmm weird, whats the upside of using that specific band instead of letting it select bands automatically?
@@fenixtech1342 The advantage is precisely to use the AX network, if you leave this equipment in automatic, they always prefer the longest range instead of the highest speed! Try it on automatic and you will notice that even in AC, you will often be using 20 MHz or 40 MHz instead of 80 MHz!
Babble, babble, ...... You babble about everything but how to make best use of fhe Archer AX50. You think everyone is a so-so IT guy like yourself?? 👎
The ax50 a total shit, I replaced it with a Netgear ac 1900 thinking that it would be better and no! The devices are disconnected, you do not get a good signal or you have a signal but you do not have internet, you do not have a month of use, at any time I change it for the old one, do not spend your money on this equipment.
Hey, you ait funny. And please talk English with no accent, if you can!
