      you broke trust earlier in the process. he might trust the product and the company but not sure about you. you would just create more certainty around you. however if they are asking to read whole contract probably a bit to late. I would just agree and bring lots of enthusiasm about reading the contract but make it seem like it's going to be a pain in the ass to read everything. your enthusiasm and willingness to go over it with him shows you aren't hiding anything and he would fold. no one wants to read though contracts unless they have some type of legal background them might skim it since most contracts are the same.

    Is looking at their meter just a way to keep the convo going? I mean, almost everyone who doesn’t have solar has a smart meter and as far as I know there’s no important information to be gained by looking at it.

      There is important information to be gained by taking them to the meter. You could explain how a smart meter makes their home one step closer to getting solar. In some markets the old homes still have old analog meters. You could also talk about how net metering will run the digital meter backwards reducing their electric bill
